  1. Just saw a band called Palaye Royale supporting Enter Shikari in Norwich and they're the best support I'd never previously heard of that I've seen in years. EDIT - Possibly the best live performance I've ever seen from anyone by Shikari themselves.
  2. Chelsea shat the bed a bit yesterday, didn't they? I really hope that Man City can keep up with Liverpool to at least make the title a two horse race, because Spurs probably aren't going to catch up and the more interesting race could be for the last two Champions League spots. Still desperately in need of a striker (Higuain please) and it appears Sarri's tactics don't work if a team can't perform just because their primary method is countered then some changes are in order.
  3. Makes a million times more sense than fourth place getting a guaranteed Champion's League group stage spot.
  4. My main aim so far has been accounting for real life accomplishments within a TEW setting.
  5. Is there anyone who's knowledgeable enough about Mexican wrestling to help me with the Hall of Immortals criteria there? It's a bit of a struggle to work exactly when CMLL becomes a promotion worth considering a major promotion for "headlining a major event" purposes, and I have no idea which titles are historically considered as the main prizes in either CMLL or AAA. Mid 90s Triplemanias also appear to have been multi-event affairs, so several workers end up getting more than one "main event" per year.
  6. I do quite like the idea of 77 being a non-first choice number 7, and likewise for all the multiples of 11.
  7. Football Manager: Morata Edition
  8. Can't wait to see what Wayne Routledge gets up to tomorrow. Casual bit of arson?
  9. FIFA Manager Mode transfers suddenly looking more realistic than Football Manager...
  10. Liverpool have a disgustingly good overall squad depth this season.
  11. That is literally not how football should work and sometimes I wonder how things got this way.
  12. As a (somewhat lapsed) Chelsea fan I very much agree with this. My preference was Aubameyang over Morata at the time of their respective transfers and, thought I was more than happy to give Morata a chance, the better purchase is more than obvious at this point. Morata has not been an acceptable replacement for Diego Costa and Giroud isn't an acceptable replacement for Morata. I'm not even sure who the right man for the job would be, but the modern 4-2-3-1 formation needs a goalscoring striker so that high scoring wingers like Hazard can complement their tallies rather than make up for the lack of them. Chelsea are awful at blooding young players, as evidenced by the fact that the last consistent first-team player to work their way up through the ranks was the now 38 year-old John Terry. A top level team with a massive bank balance and a revolving door of managers will always struggle to create a decent long term vision for itself. This ties in with the lack of time given to managers in the modern game. The fact that there are only a handful of managers in the English league who have been with the same club for more than 5 years is a sad state of affairs. I don't follow game-to-game affairs for any team nowadays but I'm under the impression that Jorginho has been a key asset for Chelsea so far this season. Something about him having more than twice as many touches than any of his teammates in the Palace or Watford game?
  13. Has he fallen over or is he posing? Is it both?
  14. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they find out about their bans and the discussion which will no doubt happen in their own private circle.
  15. Sweet. Less work it is. It's just those pesky Battlebowls from the early 1990s which throw up any problems there.
  16. Currently looking at Hall of Immortals candidates and I'm unsure where to cap the mark on headlining "Historic or Legendary" events. Wrestlemania, Starrcade, and January 4th main eventers are obvious inclusions but I'm also tempted to include Royal Rumble winners in this category, regardless of whether they went on to the Wrestlemania main event itself. Similarly, G1 Climax and KOTR winners might be worth including in this category just to pad it out a little. EDIT - Also the possibility of Anniversario and Triplemania (and Summerslam at a stretch) being included, as well as the difficulty of determining the main events of Starrcade '91 and '92 due to the Battlebowl.
  17. He'd probably raise more if he offered to leave the public eye, tbh.
  18. Yeah I'm fine with that. Means I just need to settle on Match, Team, Wrestler, and Manager awards where PWI and WON differ.
  19. RE: Differences between PWI/WON award winners, I'm happy to put a poll up with both choices and see which one gets more support. Some of them are probably quite clear cut (ex. The Giant or Kenta Kobashi in 1996) but others will be a lot closer. FWIW, I've pencilled Ric Flair in as Veteran Wrestler of the Year (42+) from 1991 to 2007
  20. I'd comment on this but I didn't even know Red and Dogg had a "The" in front of their names. The Rock, however, I'd definitely include it because just "Rock" doesn't seem right. Same goes for The Undertaker and The Miz. My grey area comes with guys like Khali and Big Show as I'd never include it for Show but I might for Khali.
  21. This. While recording the PWI/WON matches of the year I've written them down in the way that the game would record in-game award winners. Speaking of, I've gathered PWI and WON award winners of relevant awards into a spreadsheet as a means of determining who "won" what according to the game. Where they differed I've currently got both winners written down but WON seem to have been a lot more scientific in their decisions than PWI's often popularity focused approach. A problem with this arises from where WON have included MMA companies and PWI don't bother with that type of award. I have five remaining categories plus four with gaps where existing awards were made defunct or inactive; any "award winners" before first-time PWI/WON awards are too far back (and too subjective in general) to justify bothering with. Some of the gaps might be worth filling in as Managers and Colour Commentators, for example, haven't been awarded since the 90s, but could easily be voted on, as could the likes of awards which have no basis in real life. I might check back through past EWB lists to see if any of the remaining categories were voted on.
  22. I don't mind working on End of Year awards for now. Possibly Hall of Immortals tacked onto that also.
  23. I wish I knew about something about these non-public mods that supposedly exist. Guess I'm not good enough to be part of the IT crowd any more It's absolutely unbelieveable that Genadi is actively baiting mods to ban Skummy for "consistently breaking the rules" when everything he posits that Skummy has done are actually his own actions. "Spite, jealousy, elitism or just some butthurt reaction to your boards being exposed for what they are" is damn near a perfect summary of this whole ordeal except that the lady doth protest too much. Surely MrCreative's argument that plagiarised mods are already policed successfully is evidence in support of the rest of Skummy's point about weaker mods falling by the wayside, an point which is supposedly an "incoherent rant"? The one thing I agree on with Genadi in all of this is that deleting posts is counterproductive, if only because it spurs the "reeeeee, I'm being censored" rhetoric currently being used to defend a petty, selfish argument that has no foundation in reality and only serves to stroke the egos of a group of self-appointed attention seekers.
