    lmao Die Hard 6

Doesn't this make The Dark Knight Trilogy a Die Hard prequel?
  2. I quite like Ed Sheeran but don't listen to him much because his songs are very overplayed. Adele is ok but not my thing. I wouldn't be able to identify the others' music but Sam Smith looks like he sounds very annoying.
  3. Watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia whilst wearing a dressing gown and drinking milk. FML.

    Doctor Who

It's a bit YA fiction-y but there's nothing wrong with that. Way better than the RTD era one also.
  5. I don't think I've ever even seen an episode featuring the second Viv.
  6. At half time I was sitting here thinking that another Spurs goal and a couple of goals against Bournemouth would be nice. Then I look up the final results just before going to bed and see that whoever was updating the scores has put them all the wrong way round. Time for bed now but hopefully they're corrected by morning
  7. While it might make the list a whole lot shorter I'd suggest making it a requirement than an album receive at least two votes to qualify in future. Otherwise two of those are just "albums that Naitch likes a little bit".

    The Punk Thread

I gave Try This a listen and you're totally right about Armstrong's influence being obvious.
  9. My favourite part was "this might be the last time you see me involved upfront because we will be hiring people who know what they're doing."
  10. I hear Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent too.
  11. Sounds confusing as fuck. At least it's thrown up some interesting matches.
  12. I was very similar to this only an album later. While Minutes to Midnight was different to their previous two album I still enjoyed it. But A Thousand Suns was just too much of a clash with my listening tastes at 16 that I didn't give it a second thought. The following two albums weren't on my radar either but Heavy brought me right back in just under a year ago. The Feeling were one of my favourite bands back when my music tastes were still forming and going through a very strange phase at the start of high school which also included Duran Duran. I think Smackdown vs Raw 2007 is genuinely responsible for kickstarting my re-ignited interest in heavier music. For example... Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace was the first album release I truly anticipated. It was also the last 3DG album I actually had any interest in. Transit of Venus just wasn't anything special and then the singer left. I'm now much more interested in his new band Saint Asonia than anything 3DG are doing. Breaking Benjamin haven't been much concern since their 2010 split despite "reforming" in 2014. I guess Benjamin broke it My interest in Skindred waned significantly after seeing them in 2011 where the singer decided to call me out for "not enjoying the show" despite the fact that I felt like I'd had my shins crushed against the barricade and eventually decided to just climb over it and get out of the way. I might end up seeing them again in a few months but only because they're touring with CKY.
  13. I watched Three Billboards and thought it was pretty damn good. I'm also reasonably confident that the last film I saw at the cinema was X-Men: Apocalypse almost two years ago. I don't go to the cinema much...
  14. I'm so out of touch with TV that I haven't heard of most of these entries. I have started watching The Orville now so my list would be a whole 5 shows now or something. I specifically chose not to vote for any shows which I hadn't seen the most recent season of but I echo Srar's appreciation for The Librarians.
  15. Europop/dance is totally my non-guilty guilty pleasure.
  16. Mark Sheppard looks like a drunk uncle trying to fight his nephews for a piece of the whole pie at a Thanksgiving dinner in that Supernatural picture.
  17. Pedro did alright. Rudiger too until I thought he was gonna get sent off for jumping the barricade and squaring up to a fan at around the 80min mark. I guess the ref didn't see it though. Drinkwater and Willian were the only other outfield starters who seemed like they knew what they were doing/cared enough to do anything about it. David Luiz was shockingly bad and lucky not to get sent off. Kenedy played shit too and I'm glad he was taken off but Morata did fuck all in his place. Musonda and Sterling impressed me in what little time they spent on the pitch though. A 0-0 draw was disappointing because the only Norwich player who seemed top flight quality was Pinto. Pritchard and Maddison got a lot of praise for their performances but it felt like a light breeze would've knocked them over. Pritchard actually took a fairly good front bump in the penalty area in the first half. Is that how strikers play now?
  18. 1. Eternity, In Your Arms by Creeper - Hands down the most impressive album of the year for me and the best debut album since Pvris released White Noise. 2. The Knife by Goldfinger - John Feldmann is responsible for a lot of my favourite music but this is the first Goldfinger album since I became a massive ska fan in sixth form, to the extent that somehow Save Ferris managed to reform and release their new content for the first time since 1999 before them. That said, it was well worth the wait and walking away from an underwhelming Beartooth performance at Slam Dunk South to join the bouncing crowd just in time for a Feldmann-fronted superband to open with 'Spokesman' was the best decision I made that day. 3. The Peace And The Panic by Neck Deep - I'd argue that this album establishes Neck Deep as the best pop punk band of the 2010s. So glad I finally got to see them live this year, especially after the tension created by their Nottingham gig being cancelled one song in the day before. 4. Safe In Sound by Lower Than Atlantis - I didn't actually realise this album existed until the end of the year despite seeing them live in March AND knowing that they had some new great singles released throughout the year. Even after finally getting round to listening to it I wasn't expecting it to be as good as their previous album but somehow they managed it. 5. All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell by Pvris - Not quite as good as White Noise but still a good album in it's own right. Probably the only album I was looking forward to this year that didn't disappoint. 6. One More Light by Linkin Park - My favourite Linkin Park album since Minutes To Midnight. I wasn't too keen on the two albums which followed it but the singles from this album coincided with myself noticing my own musical tastes maturing a lot over the past year, possibly as a result of working at a live music venue (or even just starting full time work). I found out about Chester's passing just after moving the first batch of things into my new flat and sat on my sofa watching the tribute show live at the Hollywood Bowl from 3.30am until just before sunrise back in October. The addition of my new Chester canvas, courtesy of @Bobfoc, gives my place a very strong connection to the band in my eyes. 7. Modern Ruin by Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes - It took me until the end of the year to listen to it regularly but I've been a low key fan since they supported Sum 41 on the Kerrang Tour 2016, and Frank Carter is easily in my top five for stage presence. 8. After The Party by The Menzingers - I was only midly familiar with the Menzingers when I started my new job in February. The Menzingers were booked to play a few months later but I didn't really start my tradition of listening to upcoming gigs that I was looking forward to until later in the year. That said, I'd probably say that they were my second most influential band to perform at work this year behind the Skints, as well as intensifying my existing interest in punk genres beyond pop and ska punk. 9. Makes Me Sick by New Found Glory - I was underwhelmed when I first listened to it but the addition of campy synth to NFG's regular pop punk sound has grown on me over the course of the year. 10. All These Countless Nights by Deaf Havana - It's got some good songs and nothing outright bad. Pretty mellow but that's the direction they've been going in since changing their style between their first and second albums. 11. Poison The Parish by Seether - I didn't know about this album until a friend of mine mentioned it was one of her favourite albums of the year. Once I listened to it I had to agree. 12. After Laughter by Paramore - Paramore's sound continues to mature in fascinating ways as they follow Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco in the transition from "emo" to mainstream pop rock. Hearing 'Hard Times' in an ASDA earlier this year signalled to me that they've been successful in doing so. 13. Trouble Maker by Rancid - In my opinion the best Rancid album since ...And Out Come The Wolves. 'Molly Make Up Your Mind' is fun because I often go to Subway with a colleague called Molly and she struggles to decide between healthy or tasty. 14. The Spark by Enter Shikari - This is the one I was most looking forward to, especially after 'Live Outside' was released as the lead single and it immediately became my favourite song of the year. Unfortunately the rest of the album was fairly underwhelming by starting off strong but tailing off into nothing special. 15. Wolves by Rise Against - Another solid album from Rise Against. Their last three have all been on an incredibly similar level of consistency, which I guess is a good thing, but all lack the standout songs which make their earlier albums more special.
  19. Against The Current x1 Billy Talent x1 A Day To Remember x2 Deaf Havana x1 Delain x1 Enter Shikari x1 Four Year Strong x1 Fozzy t-shirt x1 + jacket x2 Me vs Hero sweatshirt x1 New Found Glory x1 Reel Big Fish x1 Rise Against x2 The Skints x1 Suburban Legends t-shirt x1 + baseball shirt x1 We Are The Ocean x1 (the second last one they had in stock before disbanding) The Who x1
  20. The new Evanescence album, Synthesis, consists mostly of reworked versions of past songs with orchestral and electronic elements. My Immortal and Lost in Paradise both become even more poignant but my personal favourite is Imaginary. Deaf Havana's Only Fools and Worthless Liars Deluxe includes a second disc which repeats the entire original album but in an acoustic, almost folky style after they did an acoustic set at King's Cross and realised they liked that sound more than their usual sound. The deluxe album came out just a month after I'd left for uni, and the fact that most of the songs are an ode to uncertainty with plenty of nostalgic references to Norfolk made it the deluxe version the perfect remedy for getting through the more melancholic days when I wasn't visiting home to see my then-girlfriend. She took to them as well and they effectively became our band rather than us just having a song or two that we bonded over, which only adds to the nostalgia listening to the two albums provide for me. It's really hard to pick out a favourite but the album really has two distinct sounds; some of the songs are really upbeat while others are more mellow. The opening track, The Past Six Years, really sets the tone for the more energetic songs and just how different the style of the album is to the original version.
  21. Here are all three new things I've watched this year: 1. GLOW 2. Doctor Who 3. Rick and Morty
  22. 1. GTA - So many great games in this series. I've played Grand Theft Auto, London 1969, III, San Andreas, IV and V, and loved all of them. 2. Football Manager - I might've only played 2007 and 2012 but the entire series is a huge improvement on older versions, and the fact that I'm still playing FM12 to this day is a sign that that games are made right. 3. Sly Cooper - A slightly less well known one but perhaps my favourite ever set of games. Although the first one is fairly dull I actually started with the second one, and didn't play the original until I bought the Sly Collection for PS3 a few years ago. Sly 2 is perfection and Sly 3/4 are decent developments of the story after that.
