  1. And Bayern just beat Benfica 4-0 in Europe and Barcelona had lost 3-0 to Benfica a month ago. Imagine if Borussia M'Gladbach played Barcelona! On a more serious note, most Barça fans seem to be really happy to know Koeman's gone. Personally, I think it would have been difficult for any manager. However I do feel they have some really talented kids that will bring them back to the top in due time. Unfortunately for Koeman he joined the club at the worst possible time.
  2. Leicester 1-1 Arsenal (Sat 12.30pm, BT)Newcastle 0-2 Chelsea (Sat 3pm)Tottenham 3-2 Man Utd (Sat 5.30pm, Sky)Norwich 1-2 Leeds (Sun 2pm, Sky)Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham (Sun 4.30pm, Sky)
  3. Also Scott Minto, Gary Charles and Brian Deane!
  4. 13 hours. Could have been worse.
  5. Not saying it won't go ahead but most smaller confederations aren't recognized by FIFA and won't have any saying in this. Unless you actually meant CONCACAF, AFC, CAF and/or OFC. Unless you meant something else?

  7. I really liked both of these. I didn't mind those in between but I kept playing 11 up to 14 and still remember how bad FM12 felt. I started with the first italian league version of Championship Manager. One of my dad's friends from when I was a kid fixed computers. It's all I ever knew about him. Sometimes he had to fix ours, and he would bring me games he'd copied from other people's PCs. He brought me every single pc game I played from 1988 to around 1995/96. It was this one: Then I had the 96/97 and 97/98 versions (the second one was the first CM you could run 3 leagues simultaneously). I played it non stop (even more so than the 01/02 version) during my football obsessed years up to 01/02. I only had one more up to FM06. Can't remember which but didn't play it too much. From that moment on, I was already working so I could get it every year and did so up to FM14. Then I stopped again because I didn't play it enough so it was kinda pointless to get new versions I'd play half a season and quit. I restarted in 2018 I think? The game has changed a lot, and there are loads of new features, but to be fair, most of the stuff that has been added lately is pointless to me. I was ok with how the game looked back in FM14. I like the 3D even if it's far from perfect. Prior to that, I played this absolute classic: Yeah. CM3 and 98/99 are the same game.

  9. Draft day sports too. They do basketball, baseball and football. Definitely less in depth. I've played it in the past. It was also the first baseball manager game (Baseball Mogul) I played many moons ago. Once I found OOTP I never played mogul. Mogul is an option but there are better alternatives I think.
  10. I think I should have 15 points? I had 14 and got West Ham's this week. Man Utd 2-1 Everton (Sat 12.30pm, BT)Burnley 1-1 Norwich (Sat 3pm)Wolves 1-1 Newcastle (Sat 3pm)Crystal Palace 1-1 Leicester (Sun 2pm, Sky)Liverpool 1-2 Man City (Sun 4.30pm, Sky

I did mention Sandinista above too.

    The Punk Thread

Might have been me. I mentioned Turnstile's new album in the AOTY discussion. However, I don't share the "you hate fun" sentiment. If you don't like their new album, you just don't like their new album.

    The Punk Thread

There are a few. A classic example is Rancid as you probably know. Their first records were pretty basic 90s punk rock (Let's Go maybe not as much, but still), And out come the wolves had a clear the Clash influence mixed with what they were already doing that basically became what most people think as the typical Rancid sound. Life Won't Wait was written in cooperation with many jamaican reggae/Ska artists and Vic Ruggiero and the Dirty Reggae/Ska scene in New York, which gives a distinct 60s ska feel to many songs in the album and they immediately follow that up with Rancid 2000 which is by far their most Hardcore album. From that point on, it goes back to what it was prior to their last 2 albums, albeit a bit more polished and poppier but at least this 4 album sequence is really cool. Another example is Propagandhi. Their sound was very simple fat-wreck style in the 90s/early00s and changed to the technical metal-influenced punk rock they do now. In the case of Bigwig, it's basically whatever Tom Petta wanted to do. The original lineup wasn't there anymore. In fact, the original bass player actually plays in a ska-punk band in NJ. He still does pretty much the same thing. Reclamation, their last album, was Tom Petta with a different "backup band" and they played a different style. I think this change was more relevant and unique than the first one you say, because bands playing ska-punk in 1997 because of the third wave boom and suddenly playing pop-punk in 1999 are a dime a dozen. As for classic punk rock/hardcore bands who've changed a lot, Black Flag is an example we've discussed somewhere n these boards. The Clash is another. London Calling was nothing like 1977 and Sandinista was nothing like either. Technically all those styles are under the umbrella of punk rock, but their shows usually attract completely different crowds.
  15. Before I forget again... Chelsea 1-0 Man City (Sat 12.30pm, Sky)Man Utd 2-1 Aston Villa (Sat 12.30pm)Leeds 0-2 West Ham (Sat 3pm)Brentford 0-4 Liverpool (Sat 5.30pm, Sky)Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham (Sun 4.30pm, Sky)
  16. I've actually seen the presets live in Brisbane and it was cool, but I can safely say I've never listened to any of their albums, ever. I like Bloc Party, but that song not so much. I like their first album a lot, and Four too. I also like them live. It feels like the 2000s are moving really slowly. They have loads of songs from that decade in the book.
  17. Sorry, I forgot. Can I still bet on the last 2? Brighton 0-1 Leicester City Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea
  18. Is this Damian Abraham Fucked up? I didn't know they had a new album.
  19. Brentford 2-1 Brighton (Sat 3pm)Leicester 0-1 Man City (Sat 3pm)Southampton 0-1 West Ham (Sat 3pm)Watford 1-1 Wolves (Sat 3pm)Leeds 2-2 Liverpool (Sun 4.30pm, Sky)
  20. Mine are Turnstile - Glow On and The Armed - Ultrapop. I also like the new Descendents, but it's not really new material so I won't include it. Now, stuff I don't know so well, but liked: Black Country New Road, Parannoul, Squid and Shame. Black Country New Road, Parannoul and Squid were all bands I listened to a full album for the first time. I liked all 3. I heard Squid's album because someone else posted it on EWB, actually. I had listened to Shame previously but not a lot and liked the new album, so I'm including it in this list. About some of the albums mentioned in posts above, Foo Fighters new album has terrible reviews but I actually like it. More than anything they did apart from their first one, to be honest. On the poppier side of things, Halsey's is cool. I liked it. Billie's is a bit different but still, most who liked their previous album will like this one, I guess. Lorde is completely different. It's definitely not for me. It can be for you though.
  21. True. As I said, some people see it that way. If he plays well, it will still be a great deal. In fact, they won a title while he was in Barcelona, so it could be said his absence didn't even affect them that much.
  22. Griezmann's negotiations have been in the papers since may. It took a while. Some people actually say Atleti paid too much, given how much Barça wanted to get rid of his wages.
  23. He was a legend of the genre indeed. I'm happy I saw him live when he was still a good performer. I don't listen to much radio but there was a radio show fully dedicated to him (2 hours of his songs and other songs he produced). It was cool. I don't listen to much reggae/rocksteady/dub these days but it was a nice throwback. Personally, I'm more of a fan of the Upsetters, his original band. They were more traditional reggae and a bit ska and rocksteady in their first albums, but his solo work, which as you say, helped pioneer dub music, is really good.
  24. Yes, but with no disrespect to the Italian league, at the moment it's not as strong as the english or spanish leagues (at least while he played there). Ronaldo at his peak which I would say was between 2011/16 would score over a goal por game and some 50 goals a season while still playing a fake Left wing position. He's not able to do as much now - even though he plays more like an out and out striker these days - and it's easy to see when you watch him play. His last couple of years with Madrid were already a bit worse. Again, I didn't say he's just crap now. I did say he's still very good at what he does but at some point in his career he was arguably the number 2 in the world, and he's not at that level anymore. The name Ronaldo still carries weight and it comes with the memories of all the goals he scored the last decade. I think some (I would even say many) people would be expecting that and they're probably not getting that. As for Bruno, I think that'll mostly depend on the manager. As you can see, Ronaldo's NT goalscoring increased since the new manager arrived because he has the team play for him at all times. Even though there was a slight decline in goals at club level he started banging them in (if you just check the stats) for Portugal, as if he was actually improving and reaching his peak. When you actually watch those goals, it's not hard to see why he's scoring more now. I'm pretty sure if Bruno is allowed to play the way he did last season for Man Utd it wouldn't affect him THAT much.
