  1. If Blatter doesn't make it to trial, can the prosecution continue the trial against his family over illegally obtained assets? Because part of me thinks this is going to result in a Budd Dwyer scenario so his family get to hang onto his ill gotten gains.
  2. Splatoon is a massive disappointment, it's pretty fun but I constantly feel like I'm beta testing it with the complete lack of content. Considering there's no single player mode either, it's probably better to wait it out unless you really want it. The inability to use a pro controller is mind boggling too.
  3. I'd be absolutely shocked if the English FA wasn't involved in the bribery in some way or another, the best thing to come out of the whole saga is exposing nations that publicly disagree with Sepp Blatter but still gave him a lucrative selection of sports cars or other luxuries.
  4. I get the feeling it won't lead to any large scale changes to the corruption within FIFA, but if it sends some of the most corrupt guys in the organastiation to prison for 20+ years it'll be worth it. They've timed it so well that it didn't give anyone the time to prepare, saying that, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there's some offshore accounts that are safe and will allow a bunch of officials to disappear off the face of the earth.
  5. It's probably missing off the European place gained if Arsenal beat Villa, but even that isn't a certainty.
  6. Of all the times to have a Steven Gerrard testimonial, Liverpool did it in a league game where they needed a result to get into Europe?
  7. It's fairly simple actually, games cost a lot to make and they cost a fair bit to port over or develop versions across multiple platforms. A system selling less than another system means that developers will spend less time polishing it when they could dedicate resources more to the one with the higher market share. It happened frequently at the start of the last gen with the Xbox 360 and PS3 wars because the 360 was easier to develop for and was selling more so it was easier to develop for the 360 first and then port it over and iron out the cracks, leading to inferior PS3 ports (Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, New Vegas etc.) I mean just look at the Wii U, it's a great console with some pretty good first party games but because it's not selling so good publishers are wary of porting multiplats to it, a game without some of the latest games (like watch_dogs) coming out means that it becomes a 'secondary' console and not someone's 'priority' console, so sales are even worse and leads to less games being developed. Nobody wants to buy a console and then realise they've bought a dud, especially when most console purchases at the start are based on potential rather than actual quality, which can lead to some amazing consoles having no games and some terrible consoles selling a truckload and having the best exclusives.
  8. aaaand all interest has disappeared. Fuck Robomodo for their super shitty Tony Hawks HD game!
  9. A game coming to PC doesn't automatically make it moddable, it's certainly possible but after the whole RAW PC game fiasco it wouldn't surprise me to see strict anti-modding measures.
  10. I like how Brazil now views out of touch English names as 'exotic', I mean what sort of name is Nathan? What sort of monster would actually call their first born Nathan?
  11. I thought they actually released the thing? They just changed a shitload of things and changed it to Daniel Craig. Because that's the closest we'll probably ever get to a re-release of that ever. edit: Donkey Kong 64 is fun as fuck, and I'm guessing the reason they're releasing them in EU first (as well as the Donkey Kong Country games) is because RARE were UK developers.
  12. Lucas confirmed as Smash DLC Donkey Kong 64 among one of the first N64 VC games. Fire Emblem x Shin Tensami is still going ahead Majora's Mask HD announced for Wii U
  13. I'm pretty sure it ceased to exist because the hardcore wrestling fanbase who will try games not named WWE is so tiny that it wasn't profitable to continue it.
  14. So it's $25 for a game with 8 wrestlers that's probably worse than a MDickie game and limited to one platform that last had a major game in November 2013? What sort of audience is he expecting here? Because people who are too cheap to buy a current gen console are highly unlikely to buy a $25 game on a whim, especially with a specialty game like wrestling.
  15. If we're using artists with only one album then Fever Ray wins by a landslide.
  16. The content of the gamers are dead articles aren't the problem, the problem is that somehow about 10+ gaming websites all decided to write in depth articles about the same subject and post them on the same day. Sure it could just be that one journalist did it and lots of other journalists thought it was a good article so hastily wrote something within 12 hours, but it looks a lot more planned out than that.
  17. I think there's a few elements missing from the timeline though, everyone is focusing on the middle of 2014 and forgetting beforehand about Anita Sarkeesian and some of her videos that caused unrest in the gaming community. She raised some valid points about the need for larger representation of women in gaming, but used some fairly flawed ways of expressing them, namely that there were barely any female protagonists in video games which was fairly easy to dispute. She also made some good points about the total lack of women in development of games, and even now all it's has resulted in is more female community managers (people who run the forums) so that developers can pretend they care about equality. Reviews giving unanimous praise for Depression Quest was the straw that broke the camels back because it's just a flat out awful game that seemed to get positive reviews entirely because it was created by a girl, and the strange thing about it all was that it wasn't just one review site giving it plenty of praise but a collection of gaming review sites, which made it feel like there was an underlying narritive revolving around it. Then it becomes an ethical debate of should you give a game like this a positive review because it's showing that women are coming out of the woodwork to make their own games, or should we slate it because it's a bad game and make it harder for women to get a foothold in the gaming industry.
  18. Tbh it's not really like journalists are to blame for the video game industry being so terrible right now when almost every AAA game failed to deliver in 2014, if anything the video game industry right now is in a decline following a spike and everyone is trying to paper over the cracks because if the video game industry collapses then they're all out of a job. It's better to create a narrative of "it's good but could be better" than "this is nowhere near the expected quality of a AAA game in 2015" Not that I'm agreeing with the ethics of such a thing, but the total death of the video games industry would drastically reduce the number of good games per year if there's no profit to be made developing video games.
  19. Do you guys have to derail everything that you don't agree with? It was a fairly good back and forward thread with some solid arguments that has been turned into a dank new meme
  20. Polarizing seems to be putting it mildly, 6.5 seems to be the average score which is well below acceptable for a game hyped like that.
  21. But I hate Fire Emblem because I can't deal with permadeath in video games that can make the game unbeatable. It's like whenever I play X-Com and one of the crew members dies after 20+ missions together and I lose all motivation to play again.
  22. Nintendo doesn't recommend hard drives that are powered by two USB connections because they drain too much power, even though I use a SSD in that configuration because the power draw is much lower for a non spinning hard drive and it's just as fast as booting from the Wii U's internal hard drive. So basically any hard drive with a power brick should be fine, even if all you use it for is moving games over that you're not going to be using and then not turning it on until you need to move those games back. Also remember that you can download anything from the store again if you've already bought it, so if you don't feel like getting another hard drive just delete something else and download it again when you have the time. In other news, I'm thinking about getting a new 3DS almost entirely for Xenoblade Chronicles, are there any other must have RPGs for the console? and any other must haves I should be looking to try and pick out if I can find a good deal?
  23. Donkey Kong Returns is on the EU eShop, I guess that means Punch Out should be on the US one now.
