  1. Most reviews I've read of the last episode touch on what you're asking about - saying they liked the way that the horde basically followed Rick's movements from the very start. Others have gone farther and suggested the horde was lured towards the farm, but that seems a stretch based on the one brief sighting of the chopper we saw. Maybe if it were in the background of further horde shots.
  2. Good point. Still, if she wasn't such a terrible mother - Carl wouldn't always be missing and in trouble.
  3. I'd have bought that if her anger had come after the revelation. But it came after he spent a good deal of explaining that not only had he killed Shane, but that he was glad to be done worrying about it. Her timing was just way off.
  4. But Lori? Oh God, the most infuriating character in forever. Her mind games are just beyond frustrating. I spent the entire episode hoping she'd get fragged.
  5. Fantastic episode to complete a string of 2-3 episodes of high quality. I loved the way that certain character deaths in previous episodes meant that I watched this entire episode expecting to see another major character (or three) drop off. It ratcheted up the tension a whole bunch and really had me on the edge of my seat throughout the opening 15-20 minutes of the episode. The three big reveals for next season have me hopeful it will be fantastic as well. For all the complaining I did about the slow pace of life on the farm, that idyllic setting was well established so the conclusion really hit home. Can't wait.
  6. Their music is certainly energetic enough to warrant a good live performance. I can't imagine you'd be able to sing their stuff without being pretty active and energetic.
  7. I picked up fun's new album (Some Nights) when it came out. Very poppy, but an interesting sound. It's been on a pretty constant loop since I got it. Particularly fond of All Alone, We Are Young, Some Nights, Stars, and Out on the Town.
  8. How on earth did the horrifically bland South Korea vote make it to the third round of voting? Oh yeah, they had an influential member on the board...
  9. Does anybody else find it a tad dubious that members of a bidding nation have a vote?
  10. You're off your fucking rocker. Unifying the Middle East and breaking down barriers had zero to do with FIFA's decision. It was all about money. End of story. In Russia's case it's not as offensive, because they will host a great World Cup and had a strong bid. Qatar had a terrible technical report, severe concerns over player and spectator health, and a laughable bid in terms of FIFA requirements. Dirty money spoke loud and clear today.
  11. That Australia did not win does not bother me so much. The US had a powerful bid. That Russia and Qatar, too obviously corrupt and resource rich countries won and it was rumoured an hour before an announcement was made - that disgusts me. I am sick to my stomach.
  12. It's pretty telling that the majority of games have been 0-0, 1-1, or 1-0. I understand that nobody wants to lose, but a little 'do or die' would make things interesting. Brazil/Portugal/Cote D'Ivoire should give us that since they're going to have so much competition for those top two spots.
  13. Granted this is only the second I've watched closely, but it definitely feels like a huge let down compared to the first week of 2006. Australian bias aside (I'd much prefer the epic 3-1 win over Japan to the clinical dissection at the hands of Germany) - there just haven't been any scoring thrillers or draws based on evenly matched teams rather than one under-performing and another putting ten behind the ball. The only games I've genuinely enjoyed as spectacles so far have been Korea/Greece (for personal reasons) and Mexico/South Africa.
  14. Has there actually been a genuinely exciting, competitive game of football in this tournament yet? No side has scored a goal and lost so far this tournament. A lot of draws, two thrashings (Germany and South Korea), and a bunch of dour 1-0 wins.
  15. If I wanted to make it really fitting, I'd have a Dutchman on the sideline giving me bad advice. He didn't really need to make the argument. The fact sahyder thought it was a legitimate red card had already established it.
  16. Oh, my bad. Well, I'm going to go wake up my girlfriend of German heritage and vent some frustration. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I might have sex with her afterward too.
  17. No way it was a red card either, but I've seen some in this thread claim it was justified.
  18. The same way a referee can't follow the basic rules of the game he is paid to officiate? Not that we were ever in this game - but hand ball in the box being overlooked and straight red to Cahill were atrocious calls.
  19. Or Rooney, Wayne Not according to Verbeek's pre match comments.
  20. Our substitutions have been odd. Grella (hack) off for Holman (ok); Garcia (hack) off for Nikita (potential); and now Emerton (our best tonight) off for Jedinak (average). Keeping Kewell, Bresciano, and Kennedy wrapped in cotton wool?
  21. Socceroos squad could be much stronger than it is. Verbeek's insistence on taking guys like Moore and Garcia ahead of Griffiths; McDonald; Colosimo; Ogenovski; and Carle is further proof of the guy's cluelessness. I hope he's killed in some kind of explosive cigar accident.
  22. Christ, I cannot wait for this World Cup to be over from an Australian perspective. This Pim Verbeek system has been a fucking lost cause from day one. Jagging 1-0 wins against powerhouses like Bahrain and Kuwait should never be considered 'good enough' with the talent we have available, but somehow the Dutch shyster has been bluffing his way along for the past two years. Germany are a class outfit and I don't ever expect us to be a top ten nation - but the talent is available to at least be a consistently competitive outfit with a coach who has a clue. I pity the future of Moroccan football if this is the man they've appointed to look after their junior development.
