  1. No doubting they deserved to win. Just not a big fan of the way they won their game in the round of sixteen.
  2. That's how they got the mantle, I think. Still angry about 2006.
  3. Jeez, really wasn't expecting that much fight from Egypt. How are they going in continental qualification? Would be good to see a 'new' African nation in the World Cup next year.
  4. .... Yeah... Not watching that.
  5. Pretty sure you're not a bomb if nobody knows you went off.
  6. I've been on it as cynicalpoet since early 2006. My Top 10 for the past 7 days has been mostly Michael Buble, as that's what I've been listening to while writing for BR.
  7. They did explain why Juliet was intent on helping Jack. After seeing Sawyer's reaction to Kate's presence, she knew she'd never have him fully and would rather reset it so she never met him and "never had to lose him".
  8. Spoiler: Click here to view It would make a lot of sense. Circles of ash, salt, silver are associated with binding mythologically speaking. It's strange. In their initial exchange, I got the impression that 'Jacob' was the bad one - but the episode changed that drastically. I think that might be the best single episode character I've ever seen. I do hope we see a little more of him in the final season Amazing episode!
  9. I assume they used CGI to make him have similar facial features to Reynolds, though.
  10. I don't find this sad, really. It's a beautiful sentiment. ------ Brick - Ben Fold's Five Soul Suckers - Amos Lee Must I Paint You a Picture? - Billy Bragg Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss Hurt - Johnny Cash Go to Hell - David Ford
  11. Actually, every theater should have the Stryker ending. The three alternate endings are the aforementioned Wolverine one, the linked Deadpool one, and a third where Wade finds the body and asks "What the hell is that thing?"
  12. Fuck Sun. It's all about Jin. Sun is everything that is mind blowingly annoying about the average Korean woman. Sun, on the other hand, is a fucking bad-ass - and not a lot like the average Korean man.
  13. Spoiler: Click here to viewI really enjoyed it. After the bitter disappointment of X3, it was good to go into a new X-Men movie and have it be enjoyable. Sure, I was a little bummed at the lack of cool Deadpool stuff (but the alternate endings do give me some hope) and I struggle to grasp how the gap between Schrieber Saber Tooth pre-amnesia and Tyler Mane Saber Tooth post amnesia are even related - but it was good. Loved the various cameos, enjoyed the action, and dug seeing another installment from my favorite comic book universe. Did anyone else think Patrick Stewart just looked creepy and weird in his cameo?
  14. Spoiler: Click here to viewThirded. My one gripe with Lost has been the killing of every single character I get attached to
  15. DFF's question interested me. For the record, though, CAF only have six this year on account of hosting. If I had to tinker, here's what I'd go with. CONCACAF (North and Central America) - 3 Qualify CONMEBOL (South America) - 5 qualify AFC (Asia) - 5 qualify UEFA (Europe) - 14 qualify CAF (Africa) - 4 qualify OFC (Oceania) - 1 qualifies That reduces CONCACAF's representation by one. Honestly, the only reason four have a chance is to ensure that in a lean year - the US is still present for their sponsorship dollars and viewing figures. COMBEBOL pick up an extra spot since a side like the 2006 Uruguay side should never have missed out on a World Cup. A fifth ranked South American side definitely brings more to the table than an extra African or North American side. AFC gain an extra spot. Bias aside, Asia is a huge growth market for football. The majority of earth's population is here, and if North America can get special treatment on account of the need to lure in US dollars, I think it's smart business to do the same for Japan, China, and India's clout. UEFA gain an extra spot. Europe really is where the best teams reside, outside of a few South American exceptions. CAF lose a spot. Africa doesn't have the growth potential of Asia on a sponsorship or viewership level. OFC gain a spot. I have no selfish reason for this, I just think a World Cup should have representation from every confederation - even if it does mean the likes of Vanuatu, Fiji, or New Zealand getting a few thumpings. They'll never improve or develop any love for the game if they're never present at its showpiece.
  16. They're both loaded and making great use of the naturalisation rules. Half of their teams seem to be made up of African or South American players who got bought young and have become citizens.
  17. Boom tish. Oh, it's Ellis. That softens the blow.
  18. I love the cynicism. The team can only beat who they're put up against. We were lucky enough to avoid Iran, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea - but we earned that stroke of luck by being one of the top two seeded nations in the region. We aren't lucky enough to draw the likes of Malta, Moldova, Slovenia, San Marino, Azerbaijan, or the Faroe Islands
  19. I'm somewhat keen, although I've managed to get an 'in the flesh' game going here in Korea. What time is 'Tuesday evenings' in a global sense so I can see whether or not I'd be available?
  20. Another season to go after this one, yeah?
  21. Sidebar: I very nearly got broken up with in a style identical to Segal's. Well, not by my celebrity girlfriend - but in a towel. Thankfully, she stubbornly insisted I put on clothes and then dumped me
  22. Aaargh! I both love and hate epic, episodic stuff like Lost. I just don't have the patience to wait between episodes, haha.
  23. Why is there no topic dedicated to this? I picked it up cheap as an alternative to WoW (which is a bit of a mess right now until they tweak things post Lich King) and I've found it most enjoyable. As long as you approach it as 'not WoW', it's got a good feel and it's certainly fun to run around the places you recognise from the books/films. If anyone does play, I'm on Brandywine. We should form some kind of EWB Kinship if numbers are there. It's definitely a game made easier by having a few friends on call.
  24. I tried watching this with my girlfriend last week, but she got bored and seduced me. I then watched it again without her around to distract me, and I really enjoyed it. Was good to see it making use of 'real' wrestling lingo, and I liked the appearances from indy wrestlers. Rourke's performance was great, and Marissa Tomei is criminally hot.
  25. I got this and Lego: Indiana Jones at the same time, but I've only installed Indy so far. Seems I made the wrong choice
