  1. Liverpool weren't great but they forced arsenal into making an error that resulted in getting a goal so I'll take it
  2. I honestly wish the podcasts I referred to above weren't paywalled because they're very interesting discussions about this. Every so Neil Atkinson from TAW just gets Rory Smith on and they talk about wider football-related topics (FFP, Saudi Arabia, the transfer window). Sometimes he gets Ken Early in to do similar things but I find they're less engaging. A hypothetical worst-case scenario floated in them was the Premier League expelling Man City resulting in them having to turn to the EFL or even the National League. Which would seem comparable to the kind of thing that has happened in Italy before.
  3. There have been a few very interesting discussions about this stuff on The Anfield Wrap's subscriber feed with Rory Smith from the New York Times - and based on what I've heard in those I'd reckon so too. However who knows how long it will take and the current charges against City are different.
  4. Don Murray, who was in among other things Bus Stop with Marilyn Monroe, Peggie Sue Got Married, and appeared as Bushnell Mullins in Twin Peaks: The Return has died aged 94.

    The 2024 Music Thread

    not bad, Billy Joel.
  6. He's also just really, really, good at football. Does he score with every shot? No. But if and when he does it's going to be insane. It is a sort of form, to be fair to Joe.
  7. Watch as he scores a worldie in the second half
  8. Conor Bradley is the first Northern Irish player to score for Liverpool since 1954.
  9. I didn't see a 2024 music thread but this doesn't deserve it's own thread either. I guess Fall Out Boy's cover of We Didn't Start The Fire brought the old man out of retirement.
  10. Its also where Robbie Fowler finished his playing career and started his managerial career.
  11. maybe De Zerbi but Liverpool might be a huge leap for him right now? I dunno.
  12. I'd rather have Hodgson back than Mourinho in 2023! Xabi Alonso seems to be a favorite, but, I don't know. I'd rather someone with a bit of a more proven track record but who knows who'd that be.
  13. Yeah, I since realized I had somehow convinced myself he was older. Al-Ettifaq or nothing I'm afraid.
  14. It's a bloody relief that he's turned out to be rubbish. Otherwise, it'd be all very Souness.
  15. He did do TV punditry in Germany when he was Mainz manager(?).
  16. Optimistically speaking, I'd hope it was already known internally for a while (and it seems he told FSG in November of his intentions) and wouldn't make a difference. But of course, if it doesn't end up happening it'll painted as because of Jurgen leaving. It's really surprising in one way but; he's in his 60s, he's a grandfather, and he cut short a break to manage Liverpool initially 9 years ago. Comparably Shankley-esque in terms of his impact on the club. I'm kinda nervous as to who follows him.
  17. Extra points for a double barrelled surname. When I was a teacher, about 10 years ago, half the boys were called Kyle. I love a youth player with an interesting name. Ultimate Soccer Manager used to just mash names of players in the database together and you'd get names like Carlton Ravenelli, Perluigi Irwin, Florian Schmeichel or something. Liverpool currently have youth players called Fidel O'Rourke and Trent Kone-Doherty. Which are pretty great names. Then there is former Cork City midfielder Shane Daly-Butz.
  18. Liverpools owners are fairly pro FFP. I assume they do take it quite seriously. Im sure they also do their best to work around and within the rules too. I dunno really tbh
  19. The NASCARification of football.

    The MST3K Thread

Jonah Ray was on WTF with Marc Maron yesterday. He seems to think the last crowdfunding campaign was one too many but if he was asked to do more MST3k he would. Generally a funny and very real at parts interview about death, turning 40, and working in the modern entertainment industry.
