So thinking about teams that have had the most misery. I think it's most brutal when you have hopes and they're crushed. Basically it boils down to me to brutal playoff losses (or the rare late regular season loss).

I think Minnesota and Buffalo lead this with 4 all-timers each.

Minnesota - Staubach's Hail Mary, Gary Anderson's missed kick, Favre's interception, and Blair Walsh's missed kick

Secret Base did a fantastic series on the history of the Minnesota Vikings that talks about all of these (and a lot more) - it's crazy good, I loved it.

The Cowboys are going to crash into an age-induced wall sooner rather than later. I can't envision any decision besides pushing all the chips in with a proven HC next season as the way to go. Jerry should give any of the top names whatever they want and worry about shit in March 2025 when it's March 2025.

If you have your pick of HC candidates for pushing all the chips in with Dem Boyz, who are you picking?

  3. Also, why kick a PAT when Pollard scored? Even if Aubrey hits it you are still down 17; if you go for two and get it then you are within two scores, miss and big deal, 18 point deficit.

Doesn't matter now because Favre Rodgers Love is destroying them still but it was just like....come on, man.

  4. Sounds like the Panthers are eyeing Brian Johnson from the Eagles - must be wanting Bryce to rack up completions on those WR screens

And somewhat related, it sounds as if AJ Brown has removed all references to the Eagles from his IG

  5. And with that the NFL 2023 regular season is officially over (sad times) and while playoff drama awaits and the couch carousel is firing up, the sun sets on another year of Pick-Ems. And after the dust settles, one person stands above the rest of us:

SUPER BOWL: Ravens' Joe Flacco caps playoff run with MVP award

@gunnar hendershow that is! Congratulations are in order to Damshow for coming out on top this year and winning your first Pickems Crown!

Here's the final standings of the Regular Season:

No huge drama this year, especially after Bears gate, with Damshow cruising to an 8 point win. A valiant effort from LL! and Livid but to no avail as the lead was too much to overcome. Here's the final detailed results for 2023:

Damshow closed the year out with a very nice effort of 13 points while I only had 2 points - yay me! @LL! takes home a shiny silver medal while @livid gets on the podium with a Bronze Medal Finish.

    Here's the all-time winners list:

    Spoiler

    2021: Maxx
    2022: Your Mom
    2023: Damshow

Thank you all again for playing this year - I am definitely planning to do this again next year and I hope you all will join me! I am kicking around a change or two, I'll ask for some input on that later in the offseason!

  6. Well and you look at the second half of the season - going 5-3, beating or challenging some pretty good teams, some pretty good performances from Fields, they never really got their doors blown off during that stretch. 6 of their losses were 1 possession games by the end as well.

I mean I hate the Bears - don't get me wrong - but a lot of positive was shown I thought

  7. Here's one I did for your giants @Busch Wyatt, tell me how I did!

    Spoiler

    15. J.J. McCarthy, QB Michigan
    39. Donovan Jackson, OG Ohio State
    46. Xavier Legette, WR South Carolina
    47. Jordan Morgan, OT Arizona
    70. Edgerrin Cooper, LB Texas A&M
    103. Blake Corum, RB Michigan
    113. Jaden Hicks, S Washington State
    145. Omar Speights, LB LSU
    167. DeWayne Carter, DT Duke
    176. J. Michael Sturdivant, WR UCLA

I traded out of Pick 6 to get 15, 46, and 113 from the Colts. That meant giving up Jayden Daniels and going with JJ McCarthy at QB (we're done with the other passers on the roster). Jackson and Morgan put some more talent up front that it sounded like y'all need. Legette is getting DK Metcalf comps and who couldn't use a target like that. Cooper and Speights put some playmakers in at LB. Pick 113 got you Hicks out of Wash St. who sounds like an aggressive, talented safety. Corum joins his buddy JJ in the backfield and if Saquon comes back, those two could be a nice backfield rotation. I traded pick 134 to and next year's 7th rounder for 145 and 176. Then grabbed Carter and JMS late as some maybes - Sturdivant dropped in this draft about 30ish picks so I said what the heck and nabbed him.

  8. @Your Mom Here's a Bears draft I did where the team keeps Fields as it's top QB and trades down:

    Spoiler
    • 3. Marvin Harrison Jr., WR Ohio State
    • 14. Cooper DeJean, CB Iowa
    • 39. T'Vondre Sweat, DT Texas
    • 68. Brandon Dorlus, EDGE Oregon
    • 75. Zach Frazier, OC West Virginia
    • 93. James Williams, S Miami (FL)
    • 96. Cameron Ward, QB Washington State
    • 106. Blake Corum, RB Michigan
    • 121. Cade Stover, TE Ohio State
    • 137. Omar Speights, LB LSU

Harrison gives Fields a huge talent to chuck the ball to along with Moore and Kmet. DeJean and Williams help bolster a secondary that could be elite with Jaylen Johnson back. Sweat and Dorlus bolster the front line which with Montez Sweat could be devasatating. Don't know how solid the Bears centers are so got them one in the third. I also managed to snag a QB anyway in Cam Ward, jic Fields flames out. Corum and Stover bring some extra talent to the skill player depth chart. And a LB for good measure to end things - Bears always like LBs haha.

    PLUS:
    2025 NE 1st
    2025 NE 2nd
    2025 NYJ 3rd
    2025 NO 3rd
    2025 ARI 3rd
    2025 WAS 4th
    2025 NO 5th
    2025 PHI 5th

I wheeled and dealed and ended up with basically a 2nd draft in 2025 for the team in addition to the picks I made.

  9. Messing around with Pro Football Network's Mock Draft - here's how I did as the Vikings:

    Spoiler
    • Pick 25: LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson
      • Traded out of Pick 11 with the Eagles to get Picks 25 and 50 (and a 2nd next year)
    • Pick 42: DT T'Vondre Sweat, Texas
    • Pick 43: QB Michael Penix Jr., Washington
      • Traded up from 50 with LAC by swapping a 3rd next year for a 6th so I could guarantee getting Penix here
    • Pick 107: S James Williams, Miami (FL)
      • Traded the Titans Pick 104 for Pick 107 and Pick 199
    • Pick 124: RB MarShawn Lloyd, USC
    • Pick 153: CB Jaylen Simpson, Auburn
    • Pick 154: T Matt Goncalves, Pitt
    • Pick 161: G Isaiah Adams, Illinois
    • Pick 199: EDGE Steve Linton, Texas Tech
    • Pick 202: T LaDarius Henderson, Michigan

I feel like as a Vikings fan I would be extremely happy with this draft. Trotter was Clemson's D MVP and we need better LB depth. Sweat brings back some beef up front, didn't feel like Harrison Phillips did enough. I got Penix Jr. like I am hoping for, even if Cousins is signed that's a good situation for us. Williams is a wild playmaker on defense. Lloyd gives us a dimension at running back that we don't really have. Then took some swings on the O-Line later in the draft. I like Simpson as a CB from Auburn and the Vikes could always use some depth there. Linton could get in the pass rush rotation and if he develops well might be a late steal at EDGE/LB. Plus we ended up basically flipping a 3rd for a 2nd next year plus and extra 6th.

  10. I'm predicting Browns vs 49ers in the Superb Owl - 49ers crush everyone in the NFC's hopes, meanwhile Browns go on a miracle run. They lose the Super Bowl game in tragic fashion though so no one forgets that they signed Deshaun Watson.

  12. qThe second-to-last NFL week has come and gone and with it so has the hopes of many teams, real and imagined. 13. Bailey Zappe with 3 picks including a pick 6...remind me why they couldn't give Malik Cunningham a try and why they were all pissy that he signed with the Ravens?
