  1. EBG, I'm still up for it, and await the league info. As for the draft, the date is fine, but is there a time available maybe an hour or two later? I usually am just getting off work at 6 on Tuesdays. If not, that's fine, I'll just make sure to pre-rank and hopefully arrive with the thing in progress.
  2. EBG, it's never too early for a good fantasy football league...any spots still left? EDIT: For those talented fellows who can handle two leagues at once, I have one drafting on August 13th which may have anywhere from 1 to 4 spots remaining. PM me if interested.
  3. One of the greatest voices ever. Luther's right up there with Barry White and Teddy Pendergrass as far as singers who can help a fella score with the ladies, and at least we have some impressive work to savor for years to come. RIP.
  4. Kelsey Grammer as Beast? Hmm, maybe if ol' Hank's sticking to the lab setting, but Kelsey doesn't exactly seem action movie material, even if he is under pounds and pounds of makeup.
  5. Whoa, Grif...let's leave the people who can actually sing out of this little fiasco. If Seal had sold ten million albums and the Spice Girls got as roundly ignored by the mindless masses as Seal has ("Kiss From A Rose" notwithstanding), there would be a much greater feeling of justice in the world. Besides, Seal's a little busy these days knocking up Heidi Klum... (Y)
  6. Arcade flavor...Tapper. 'Nuff said. For the consoles, I agree with Ash on TJ&E.
  7. Gotta love 'Zo...it seems most of the league and its fans had given him up for dead, and now he's helping carry a team that was supposedly all about Shaq. Waiting anxiously to see the Pacers land another knockout shot on Detroit, but even as a serious Pacer fan, I can't help but feel they're running into a buzzsaw with Miami looming. Anyone wanna take bets on the Heat running the table 16-0? And an interesting piece on D-Wade from ESPN.com: Yeah, it may be a while before we see Bron, Melo, or Bosh (Darko's not even worth a mention here) joining that kind of May company.
  8. Other than the annual EA Sports Recycling Deathmarch, I almost never take a game in for trade. I've got 30 PS2 games, and enjoy them all. But, then again, I'm also the guy who once had a CD collection numbering in the 700's, so collecting anything is hella cool with me.

    Top 100 Albums.

This I would have agreed with. That said, I wouldn't put Appetite in the top 10, either, but I consider it to be a classic, definitely worthy of a spot somewhere on a Top 100 list. I've owned 25 of these albums at some point in time...I, too, was bored.

    Star Wars

"The admins told me to STFU..." I didn't know Anakin Skywalker was a member of EWB...
  11. Thanks, syco. jstarr2k3, pleastameetcha. As far as Straight Outta Compton goes...I'd be shocked as hell if that one ever gets archived. Imagine the fucking protests when someone brings up enshrining the album that contains "Fuck tha Police." The Library would be condemned for "condoning violence on police" or something. Great album, great impact on society, but that impact would be seen as totally negative in a setting like this. No branch of the U.S. government would touch that recording with a ten-foot pole when it comes to dishing out honors or "preserving for future generations."
  12. After looking over the complete registry, I just wonder about one particular piece being archived, that being "Tapestry" by Carole King. I grew up with a mother who loved this album, and I think it's a fabulous work...but I'm not sure I see how it changed or illustrated American culture. Hmm. Ah, well...at least future generations won't be allowed to forget that Carole King was, and still is, one of the finest songwriters we've ever had.
  13. I'm surprised it took this long for them to select Pet Sounds. Figured that would be right up there with Sgt. Pepper, which I'm assuming the LoC has already archived. Love the love for Coltrane and James, but if they're going to archive some Public Enemy, they should have started with "It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back."
  14. Alyssa Milano v. Mandy Moore--Mandy wins Eva Longoria v. Scarlett Johansson--Eva wins Eva v. Mandy--Eva wins again Region 1 was pretty light, I thought...Angelina and Mandy paired in the first round was easily the toughest call. Anna Kournikova and Natalie Portman were my only other favorites in that bracket. Region 2...DEAR GOD, IT'S THE MOTHERLODE!! Bellucci v. Holmes, Alyssa v. Keira, Salma v. Tyra, Laetitia v. Eliza!?!?! My head nearly exploded...and comments from the peanut gallery are unavoidable, so I won't bother asking you all to refrain. Region 3...not bad, but most of the calls were pretty easy. But the bastards must die for making me choose between Kate Beckinsale and Sarah Michelle Gellar in Round 1. Those two would have been Final Four contenders easily. Region 4's second round was loaded...Jessica/Eva, Catherine Zeta Jones v. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Charlize v. the former Mrs. Pitt, and Beyonce v. Catherine Bell. Damn loaded region. Now for the next question...who SHOULD have been in this thing that wasn't? My vote goes to Tina Fey.
  15. Whenever I hear about a rapper being on Punk'd, I always wonder if Kutcher's going to be shot within a week or so. Is that wrong?
  16. Midget, have you gotten a chance to play God of War yet? My cousin went out and bought the damn thing sight unseen and invited me over to play it...and it's excellent, IMO. Minigames are a big part of battles, and are integrated nicely into the action as well. There's even a fucking minigame...literally. My only beef is that sometimes after a massive action-packed battle segment, the momentum can get lost with a head-scratching platform spot. Otherwise, the game's well worth a rental, at least. I've heard that it's a bit short, though (10-12 hours, IIRC).
  17. I'm not sure Katamari Damacy qualifies as a "sleeper" anymore, so I won't mention my addiction to that one, but... I've been spending obscene amounts of time on Amplitude lately after finally finding a cheap copy at my local EB. The diversity of music on this one (Pink, Garbage, Weezer, David Bowie, P.O.D., Run-DMC, and muchos otros) totally sets it apart from its predecessor Frequency, which was all techno-driven. Don't get me wrong, I like me some electronic music, but I like variety more. And "Cherry Lips" by Garbage may be the single most infectious song I've ever heard in a game. Also, did anyone try out Project Eden in PS2's early days? I have some strange soft spot for that one, even though I hit a dead end and haven't picked it up in over a year. So anyway, what are some of the games you've checked out and enjoyed that most others might not have caught?
  18. I was hoping for the one from Bull Durham that comes when Annie asks Crash, "Well, what do you believe in, then?" And if I ever heard a real-life boxer say, "If he dies, he dies," my respect for boxing might actually go up a notch.
  19. The Austin Bracket was VERY kind to me...only game I missed was picking Niagara to pull the upset on OU...and yes, I called Vermont, thank yee. Damn disappointed that I didn't pull my usual "underrate Kansas" routine, as I got burned so many times picking them for Final Fours and seeing them bomb in the second round...I at least figured they could handle Bucknell. Yeesh. Only four out of my Sweet 16 are gone thus far...about average for me after one round. Four or five more will probably drop this weekend.
  20. My pickset's name should be pretty easy to spot... Now, let's see which of my Final Four gets derailed in the first round this year. There's always one, after all.
  21. Artist/ Band: Prince Are you male or female: Partyman Describe yourself: Sexy MF How do some people feel about you: Arrogance Describe your ex girlfriend/boyfriend: I Hate U Describe your current girlfriend/boyfriend: Irresistible Bitch Describe where you are: Graffiti Bridge Describe where you want to be: White Mansion Describe what you want to be: I Rock (There4 I Am) Describe how you live: Chaos and Disorder Describe how you love: New Position Share a few words of wisdom: It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night Pretty easy when you've got twenty-some albums worth of material to draw from...this was fun.
  22. Hopefully, Hopkins has a better year as coverboy than Jones did...the Madden jinx is obviously spreading. A bigger and more diverse soundtrack would have suited the game nicely. If you make a giant tattooed punk-lookin' guy with a mohawk, it just seems odd to have him coming to the ring with Fabolous playing. And I like the fact that you start as an amateur as you try to get the hang of the game...and if you played the hell out of the first Fight Night, you can simply whip the hell out of everyone and pad the resume a bit.
  23. I so miss Eddie Murphy as a stand-up...Raw and Delirious were both pure gold, but unfortunately, we'll never see him do that kind of material on stage or in movies again. Dammit. Anywho, some other fave stand-ups: Redd Foxx--His old party albums are dirty AND funny, something most guys today can only get half-right. Sinbad--Proved to me that clean could be funny, too. Richard Jeni--Everything can be a joke when presented to Rich. Bill Maher--He was great before he got his own shows. I enjoyed Politically Incorrect for a while, but Real Time is just him being bitter. Eddie Izzard--Visually jarring when you first see him, and then the material is topnotch, making you able to overlook the fact that he's in a dress and whorish makeup. George Carlin--The entire English language is open to dissection when he's onstage. I listened to a seven-disc Carlin box set when I was moving to Kansas City, and was still laughing after eight hours and 500 miles. Brett Butler--She's hillbilly and proud of it, but unlike the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys, it's not her whole gimmick. Ah, good shit. I love me some stand-up.
  24. I agree with ROC 100%. All the management stuff that has been put onto various series' Franchise modes in the past several years floats my boat quite nicely. Signing players and making trades is one thing, but it adds something to the pot when you have to make sure that the team is making money, bringing in fans, AND winning games. Just one more piece of realism to add to the pot. You can only play so many games before that particular experience gets sort of samey, so some off-field intrigue adds that much more value to a game.
