  1. Michelle Branch before she vanished. The Spirit Room is a great CD. I only heard a few tunes off her next album and they were good. Sadly, it seems she is a one album wonder at this time. I hope she doesn't stay in that category though. Goodbye To You is her best song in my opinion, well it's my favorite at least. I could listen to that over and over again.
  2. Well fuck me up the goat ass. I typed a decently big post, specifically on the Tito/Shamrock fight and Tito/Belfort fight and contract situation... my PC froze. So fuck, I ain't typing it all again I've read on a few MMA message boards that DSE is interested in bringing Ortiz and/or Belfort to PRIDE, most likely to participate in this years Middleweight Grand Prix. If I was Dana White, I'd make an attempt to keep these guys, but Belfort has said he wants to fight Wanderlei Silva again and that ain't gonna happen in the UFC. As for Tito... well, if he losses to Vitor, he would have lost to his three biggest competitors and there really isn't anybody else he can fight at this time that would allow him to regain instant credibilty. A Tito/Ken Shamrock rematch would draw big numbers, whether it be on PPV or free TV (that's a different issue right now), but Ortiz has nothing to gain and all to lose if he does fight Ken. Still, a win over Ken would be good start to rebuilding his once high and mighty status in the UFC. Will either guy resign? I'm betting on Tito resigning (nothing against the guy, I just don't see him taking his jock strap and going to PRIDE), but I can see Belfort going across the pond to PRIDE, at least to participate in the GP. If this happens and Vitor has a strong showing in the GP, I think he'll stay there for a while. The only problem is that PRIDE already has it's share of Brazilian Top Team Middleweights, Lil' Nog, Ricardo Arona, Punk Minowa, and Paulo Filho. All those guys are being considered or trying to get a spot in the GP as well (minus Punk). If Tito losses but ends up resigning (which is what I predict), don't expect him to be thrown into the title picture until he puts a few dubyas in his record. Still, he's a draw, a fan favorite, and a great fighter who is clearly going through a rough time (seriously, regardless of your opinion on him, he is an amazing fighter, his recent fights don't do him any justice). More on the Ken Shamrock/Tito Ortiz "fight"... It's well known that there is no "off" button on both these guys mouthes, so it doesn't surprise me at all that Tito would go one step ahead of Zuffa and hype a fight that is nowhere near being signed yet. It also wouldn't surprise if Ken responds to this, further hyping this phantom bout ASAP. No disrespect to either of these guys, but their collective ego is 10 times the size of 90% of anyone else who has ever fought in the UFC.
  3. The Russian guy? He had a red jacket and blonde hair? His name was like Biff or something, but I used to call him Sergei Fedorov. I dunno.
  4. I listened to Live Audio Wrestling this Sunday because of the Tito interview they were doing. Tito talked about this fight and seemed totally on board with the idea of fighting Ken on the free show. So if Ken is game and Tito formally accepts an offer, then we will see it. Also, the winners of The Ultimate Fighter will fight on the show. What I've heard is that the two finalists in each weight division (middleweight and light heavyweight) will square off to determine the winners. Also on the show, Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg, a rematch of their UFC 45 title bout. That should be good, as their first fight was. It was short and very ground oriented, but good.
  5. UFC 51 update and a few predictions. Good news, NBT, David Loiseau WILL fight this Saturday. No, it's not Joseph Riggs... that fight would have been good. Riggs will be replaced by Gideon Ray, a guy I know little about except that his wins are in double digits and IIRC he only has one loss.... Granted, he hasn't fought too many tough fights.... so yeah. I'm not sure when this fight was made official, it is. Hopefully Loiseau pulls out an impressive victory and we keep seeing more of him in the UFC. My predictions for the big three, most anticipated contests.... Middleweight Championship Fight: Evan Tanner (30-4) vs. David Terrell (10-1) My Prediction: A lot of people look at Terrell and instantly dub him the next big thing, which may be true, but I think Evan is out on a mission to earn himself a belt after so many trips down to the cage and he won't be stopped. If Tanner can avoid David's submission attempts and dominates the standup, the clinch, and executes the ground and pound well, it's his title for the picking. However, Evan has to be extremely weary of the dangerous abilities of Terrell on the ground, because if he finds a good opening he can work with, that Middleweight belt is going around his waist. It should be noted that this is David's toughest fight to date and Tanner is on a roll as of late. Even though his wins come over stand up brawlers who aren't up to Terrell's par on the ground, Tanner has to be feeling confident. The only thing I'm worried about is Tanner's training and the fact he hasn't worked with Team Quest for this fight (Tanner recently left Team Quest... that's the same team Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, and Matt Lindland are on). He'll need to be tip top trained for David Terrell because he really is one of the next big things. But Tanner has something to prove and will give everything and then some. My Prediction: Evan Tanner via TKO by strikes in 3rd round. Interim Heavyweight Championship: Tim Sylvia (18-2-0) vs. Andrei Arlovski (9-3) My Prediction: Andrei fights a quick, intense style complete with equally quick and intense strikes. If Arlovski overwhelms the big man with a barrage of shotgun punches like he did against Cabbage, its Andre's fight. However, one solid Tim Sylvia shot could easily change the pace of the fight in an instant. Tim's best bet, IMO, will be to use his reach to his advantage, striking when he sees an opening whilst keeping the firey Belarusian a safe distance away. Sylvia works with a host of talent fighters, including the great Pat Miletich, so you know he is well prepared. But if Andrei gets a break and opens fire on big Tim, I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks him out. Remember though, Sylvia's can throw a cannon and if he catches the Pitbull on the button he too could score the knock out. Either way, I doubt this thing is going the distance. Tim Sylvia via KO in the 2nd round. Main Event: Tito Ortiz (12-4-0) vs. Vitor Belfort (12-4-0) My Prediction: I'll be honest, I'm a hardcore Belfort fan so I might be a bit biased. If Vitor comes to this fight with his head in the game, I'd say he should take Tito with minimal trouble. Belfort is well known for his ligthning quick machine gun hands and wins his fights by overwhelming his opponents, stifiling any bit of offense they can muster. If he unloads on Tito when the time is right, then the Huntington Beach Bad Boy doesn't stand a chance. Plus, Vitor getting back to training with one of the best teams in the World, that being Brazilian Top Team... that doesn't hurt at all now, does it? Don't ever count Ortiz out though, because if Belfort doesn't bring his head with him this Saturday (which he has been known to do), Tito could dominate and win no problemo. Vitor has the Jiu-Jitsu, as does Tito to a lesser extent, but don't hold your breath for either man to whip out their BTT techniques unless it is used as a last resort. Bottom line is both men need this win badly, they must bring their 'A' game. Despite my bias for The Phenom, I can see this going either way. As much as I don't like uneven fights, I have a gut feeling the one man to get the early advantage will control the whole fight from there on in. So... Vitor Belfort via TKO by strikes in 2nd round. It's going to be a good, rather unpredictable event (at least the big three fights). However, two bouts I was looking forward too have been changed (Riggs vs. Loiseau and Lawler vs. Baroni). Still, I can't wait for the main event. That itself sells the show for me.
  6. I'm not exactly sure to be honest. Until recently, I had barely followed the contract side of PRIDE/DSE (it would be a lot easier if I could understand Japanese, that way I could follow the big name Japanese sports site such as Sportsnavi...). However, Silva fought 4 fights last year alone, so take that for what it's worth. I'd say 4 or 5 is a start, but if I was DSE I wouldn't hesitate to give him an extension as soon as it's needed.
  7. The Baroni/Menne finish is the only good thing about those fights as a whole. Then again, I guess the show was more to hype Baroni, Arlovski, and Sylvia in fights they've dominated... against opponents who just happen to no longer be in the UFC. So I guess it has a purpose. But still. And like I've said before, I still don't see way they don't get another guy to fight Loiseau. I mean, they've gotten guys on shorter notice before. I think it's blows for Loiseau, he needs every shot he can get at the big time.
  8. Hey! I loved Mega Man 6! Maybe it's because it was the first Mega Man I played, but I loved the damn game. Tomahawk Man is one of my favorite Mega Man bosses in the series, followed by Napalm Man in Mega Man 5.... IIRC, those guys were fucking hard as hell to beat. Actually, I've only played Mega Man 3, 4, 5, 6, X, and X2.... So If Mega Man 2 is the best, I wouldn't know.
  9. Plus, it had damn cool weapons! *Breaks bottle over your head* ←
  10. True, there was no grappling advantage system or whatever, so it was more like a beat 'em up fighting game. But still, it was in a ring and you had to pin your opponent to win. Oh, I loved the counting for the pins. "ONE... TWO... THREEEEEEEEE!".
  11. Actually, I was just going to ask if anybody knew where I could purchase it. It would have been cheaper if I bought it years ago, instead of renting it for $5 a pop each time.
  12. Well, the GTA games are a given (both the original soundtrack from the first four GTAs as well as the soundtracks to VC and SA). But besides that, Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The stage music for guys like Balrog, Ken, Guile, Vega, and Ryu are classic, Balrog's in particular. Also, I'd say PRIDE FC for PS2 because it had awesome entrance music, including a 36 Crazyfists tune.
  13. Has anybody ever played the game Saturday Night Slam Masters? It was a wrestling game for the SNES and I thought it was bad ass. It might have been for Genesis too, but all I remember it being on was SNES and it was made by Capcom. Man, I rented that game more than any other. The game had some pretty kickass characters too like Scorp, who was a small, masked dude that could teleport and has the ability to give a guy three times his size a twisting, flying, 360 powerbomb looking move, Stinger, who was you basic luchadore clone, Alexander Greater, a blatant ripoff of Big Van Vader (his smoking Ram mask is clearly a take on Vadar's smoking Mastadon mask), Jumbo, who looks like One Man Gang in a singlet (*shudders*), and Haggar of from Final Fight fame. There were some other guys too, but those were my favorites. Basically the point of the game was to each choose a single wrestler or a tag team and travel on a World tour against other competitors. If you go from city to city undefeated, you are awarded the title belt, either singles or tag. The location of the match would be announced before the fight with a voice over... For example, if you were in Hannover, Germany, a low quality, echoed voiceover would say "Hannover!". Not sure why, but I loved that part.... "Mexico!"... so yeah. Does anybody else remember this game and/or played it before? I was thinking about it and wanted to know if it was as awesome as I remember it being.
  14. Not sure if these have been mentioned, but these are my picks for best SNES games... Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (which I'm sure has been mentioned) Donkey Kong Country Chrono Trigger Earthbound (So many hours put it into this game) Kirby Superstar Super Mario World F-Zero Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time
  15. Hahaha, even though Ed O'neil is only in both movies for a few lines, he's awesome. Yeah, I know what you'd like to do. You'd like to find the guy who did it, rip his still beating heart out of his chest and hold it in front of his face so he can see how black it is before he dies.
  16. I'd say the best team would be without a doubt, Brazilian Top Team. They have some of the most talented fighters in the World on the team. Including, but not limited too Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Vitor Belfort, Murilo Bustamante, Hermes Franca, Ricardo Arona, Paulo Filho, Mario Sperry, and Allan Goes. That's quite the camp. Miletich Fighting System has a pretty good camp too. Besides the already mentioned Sylvia, Hughes, Pulver, Frykland, and Lawler, they have Jeremy Horn and the up and coming Justin Eilers (who will be in action at UFC 51). Team Quest are top notch in terms of wrestling. Hell, with Randy Couture, Matt Lindland, Dan Henderson, and Rulon Gardner alone you've got a World class wrestling team. However, one of their big names, Evan Tanner, recently left Team Quest. But still, IMO, Brazilian Top Team takes the cake.
  17. Actually, Matt had 3 fights between his win over Pat Miletich and his self KO (Murilo Bustamante, Ivan Salaverry, and Phil Baroni). A little bit of history, Miletich's loss to Lindland was his last fight before going into full time training of his own team, Miletich Fighting Systems, which boasts talented fighters such as former Tony Fryklund, Robbie Lawler, former UFC Heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, former UFC Lighweight champion Jens Pulver, and current UFC Welterweight champion Matt Hughes. Miletich himself was a former UFC Welterweight champ.
  18. Freeman hasn't appeared in UFC since, though he fought and won 3 fights in the UK since then. I thought it was kind of sad when Matt KO'd himself... I'm not a big Lindland fan, but I felt bad for the guy.
  19. I like Ian Freeman. You're right, he isn't anything special, but he is a hell of a brawler. If all you Brits slug it out like he does, I don't want to ever meet one of guys on the street. He actually beat Frank Mir at Royal Albert Hall back at UFC 38. He also had a pretty good slugfest (sans a few slow points) with Vernon "Tiger" White at Meltdown.
  20. Mir should be back sometime within this year, soon hopefully. Though Frank Mir rubs me the wrong way, Wes Sims is just a jackass. With a little more exposure, I think Mir could be blessed as one of the most dangerous fighters on the ground....but Wes Sims... He has the attributes to be a great fighter and a contender, but he's been doing dick all since getting his big break UFC and he pisses me off all the time. When Sims loses, he is always quick with the complaints. After he stomped Mir's face in and got DQ'd, he blamed it on Mir purposely poking him in eye with his thumb. He's trainer/coach Mark Coleman had the right idea by saying that he had been training Wes in PRIDE rules, so instinctively Sims would have stomped on him in that position (even though he should have told the jackass it's against the rules to grab the cage). But then Wes Sims the assclown goes off and says in an interview that he stomped on Mir's face in retaliation for the eye poke. Then he blamed his loss to Mike Kyle because Kyle bit him on the chest. He said that because of the bite, he eased up on his choke and Kyle got out. Even if that was the case, that shouldn't have caused him to be gassed out as fuck when Big John ordered the stand up. It seemed like it took Sims an eternity to stand up, he was gassed to hell. Then when he did get up, he turned his back Kyle and walked in the opposite direction! I always get a kick out of Big John yelling "TURN AROUND!" to Wes, then watching Kyle walk up behind Wes, give him a few solid shots before Sims collapses to the ground like a sack of bricks. Granted, Sims took the fight on one day notice, but still, no professional fighter in the UFC should gas out the way he did. What's sad is that Wes Sims does have potential, but he has yet to show it in the UFC. I'd give him a few more chances before I judge him a dud, but right now I'm leaning in that direction.
  21. Nothing is wrong with him, he has developed himself a ton since his early UFC days and is a popular guy. It's just that him and Ken are more gatekeepers, rather than HW championship contenders. They are good fighters, no doubt, but both men are turning 41 this year and haven't exactly been active fighters in the last few years, both for different reasons (Ken was nursing some heavy injuries and Kimo spent the majority of time training, IIRC, and he was suspended for 6 months in August). I think it would be best that Ken and Kimo fight just for show rather than titles, because their careers are winding down. I'm not knocking either guy, I'm just saying. But who knows, that's just the way I see it.
  22. Wayne: I can't talk about it anymore it's giving me a headache. Garth: Here take two of these! (close up of Wayne's hand, everything is in black and white except for two bright yellow pills) Wayne: Ah, Nuprin. Little. Yellow. Different.
