He had to move, given Madrid didn't even put him on the bench - but I thought that Liverpool would have the sense to buy him, as they're screaming out for a goalscorer and Owen/Gerrard worked really well.

Shame to see him go to Newcastle as I have a soft spot for Owen, and they're utter shit. Scott Parker is good though, as is Shay Given, so it's not all bad.

Owen always got the spot on the bench. He was never 5th or 6th choice as a lot of people in England seem to claim. There was Ronaldo and then it was him.

EDIT: I agree that if he wanted to start he would have to move though.

Parma have received an offer from Liverpool for centre back Daniele Bonera.

The Italian stopper has emerged as one of Rafa Benitez's pre-deadline targets but two Serie A clubs are also in the frame.

"The club's shareholders have told me not to sell him," sporting director Oreste Cinquini told GRT radio. "But Liverpool are very interested right now.

"If an offer reaches a certain economic level then I will be obliged to inform the club officials of it."

Internazionale are one of the other suitors with a mystery Italian side also involved in the bidding.

Despite Parma's reluctance to sell Bonera, a bid between €6 million (£4.1 million) and €7 million (£4.78 million) may tempt the Gialloblu to sell.

Chelsea have also been linked with the defender in the past.

Fuck sake Arsene, SIGN HIM!

You keep saying you will only buy a player if he will improve the team and is available at the right price. Bonera is class, can play center back or right back and is available at only £5m, that is dirt cheap. :(

Jermaine Jenas is poised to complete an £8m move from Newcastle to Spurs on Wednesday after undergoing a medical.

The 22-year-old is understood to have been released from England duty on Tuesday in a bid to seal the move before the transfer deadline.

Newcastle have been resigned to lose Jenas since he admitted he was unhappy at St James' Park, even though he started the season in the team.

Jenas said life at Newcastle was like "living in a goldfish bowl."

Arsenal had also been linked with Jenas, but boss Arsene Wenger insisted he had no interest in the midfield man.

Lee Young-pyo has completed his move to Tottenham, with the club just waiting on a work permit for the South Korean star, the player's agent revealed.

The PSV Eindhoven defender will realise his dream of playing in The Premiership, with Spurs moving closer to tying up his move before the deadline at midnight on Wednesday.

"He signed the contract in the early hours of this morning," said Chin Sung-won, Lee's Seoul-based agent.

"As soon as Lee receives a work visa he will have an official ceremony to mark his joining the team."

The transfer will be welcomed by manager Martin Jol who is a big fan of the Korean star.

Jol's Spurs side have started the season with great promise, although a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend has pushed them into sixth place.

Tottenham are believed to have paid around £2 million for the full back, who has extensive international experience.

Yep, that was him. I can't remember who it was, but a Spurs fan on here said something about what they were chanting when he scored that.

"Erik Edman, 40 yards" as opposed to "Champion's League, you're havin' a laugh"

Solano has said many a time that he didn't want to leave Newcastle and would come back. But Souness obviosuly thinks Newcastle are something we are not.

8 million for Jenas? You fucking idiot, Martin Jol. He's fucking terrible. What a bit of business for us.

ONLY TWO DAYS LEFT BEFORE THE WINDOW CLOSES -- Speculation is still rife that Juve will make a move for Cassano

Fucking hell.

St. James Park is absolutley packed, just to see Owen.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still considering his goalkeeping options, according to sources in Estonia.

The Gunners boss has faith in number one Jens Lehmann but is keen to get experienced cover before the deadline on Wednesday night.

Sunderland's Mart Poom has had extensive talks with the North Londoners as rumours of a swap deal involving Justin Hoyte persist but it has emerged that Rennes' Andreas Isaksson could be an alternative target.

The Swede has been joined at the Ligue 1 club by his pal Erik Edman of Tottenham but Arsenal are believed to be weighing up a bid for the talented keeper.

Poom left the Estonian international camp to fly to London to negotiate a deal with the FA Cup holders but there are conflicting comments from the only man to have contacted the Black Cats goalie since the talks.

Aivar Pohlak, president of Poom's first club Flora, told Postimees: "It's almost sure that everything will be solved tonight. It's looking promising."

However, Pohlak informed another daily Estonian newspaper, SL Ohtuleht, that there is another name in the frame.

"They will decide on Wednesday," he revealed. "But I am not too hopeful as I know that they are still holding talks with another goalkeeper."
