Long Songs

Tool has some pretty long songs that I really like. I hate guitar solo's so if a song has like 4 minutes of guitar solo's and 4 minutes of song...i tend to dislike it.

I like long songs. The Mars Volta is a band that you have to like long songs to like the band. Their latest CD(Francis the Mute) had 5 songs, the shortest being 5:40.

I love longer songs but only if they are done correctly. They need to take advantage of the larger landscape and keep my interest with changes. I love Coheed's longer stuff, NIN, Led Zep... etc

Anyway, on the topic of long songs...it depends. Some songs can bore me to no end (IKSSE:3 by Coheed and Cambria), while others can sustain my attention for the entire song (Selkies: The Endless Obsession by Between The Buried And Me). It really depends. I love both short and long songs.

I love longs songs, being a fan of Opeth, My Dying Bride, Mars Volta, Co&Ca, Dream Theater, The Project Hate (insert roman numerals here...I can't remember them exactly), Isis, Cult Of Luna, Jesu, etc etc.

But one of my favourite long songs is actually David Grays cover of Soft Cell's "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye", which clocks in at about 8 minutes.

And Jeff Buckleys - Lover You Should Have Come Over is class, at about 7 minutes long.
