Beckham to leave Real

Beckham's calling it soccer. What a gay.

Well it is Assocication Football and that is where the name 'soccer' comes from. The English invented the term and it's just easier for the likes of us who live in countries (Ireland, the US, Canada) with more than one type of football to call it soccer to avoid confusion.

To better answer Thomas' question about why Soccer isn't more popular in the U.S.:

Because most Americans find a sport where most of the game is spent at mid-field, doesn't have a lot of opportunities to score most of the time, and can end with no score or in a tie boring as fuck.

I'm one of those people.

Soccer is okay, but if I had to watch a sport that is likely to end with only one score the entire game, I'd much rather watch American Football or Baseball. (I don't like Hockey) In fact, I actually prefer low scoring Baseball games because I love a good pitcher's duel and would rather watch that than an all out slugfest.

I can see why people like Soccer, but its not my cup of tea.

Frankly, I think signing Beckham is a serious waste of money on the team's part unless they're hoping it'll get more international exposure for the league.

I know nothing of sports, but wasn't there a World Cup game many many years ago where the (I think) German goalie broke his neck during the match and carrried on playing? That's fucking hardcore.
