Guest Mr. Potato Head
Almost a certainty? Last I'd heard, Lashley hadn't even received a formal offer.
Gene Kiniski
The fight is very unlikely to happen. Coleman is apparently campaigning for the fight as Lashley isn't interested anymore (supposedly). EDIT* Interestingly enough, MiddleEasy is reporting in the "rumor mill": Now that it's pretty much confirmed that Bobby Lashley is taking on Alistair Overeem at Dynamite!! 2010, apparently Sergei Kharitonov was next in line to bang against Ubereem Honestly, I'd rather see Sergei get the fight. Powerhart
I thought Lashley had called it quits after the loss to Sideburns Griggs.
EddieG
Lashley left Strikeforce, but according to the Strikeforce match maker, Rich Chou, they're fighting at Dynamite. http://www.mmabay.co.uk/2010/12/18/strikeforce-matchmaker-confirms-alistair-overeem-will-take-on-bobby-lashley-at-dynamite-2010/#more-35755 Never heard of this site before though, so take it for what it's worth. Powerhart
Read the same thing, but BloodyElbow's fanpost had a print screen of Chou's twitter confirming it.
Gene Kiniski
HDNet is now apparently reporting that it's not happening. Welcome to the clusterfuck that his second level MMA.
bolleje
Well... let's add another name: It has been twitter'd by Alistair Overeem's Management, that Overeem would like to face Mariusz Pudzianowski for the Dream Heavyweight Title. Lashley, Kharitonov, Pudzianowski, Coleman... This is why Overeem should go to the UFC. To face Velasquez, Dos Santos, Carwin, Lesnar, Mir and Noguira... Guest Mr. Potato Head
And not be allowed to compete in K-1, as well. Sometimes there's more to it than just who you'd face...
Powerhart
Pudz? If it's up to Overeem of course he'd like a can like Pudz. Lashley is better than Pudz at least.
Gene Kiniski
I like Overeem, or should I say, the idea of what Overeem is these days, but part of me would love to see face Pudz and lose via freak KO. 9/10 times I hate to watch a fighter take a loss, but the guy is becoming Fedor Jr. and it's just not appealing. EddieG
I know middleeasy isn't the most reliable, but if this is true.. oh hell yeah. http://middleeasy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3506:four-fights-have-been-announced-for-strikeforces-2011-heavyweight-grand-prix&catid=35:events
Quom
Could Roy Nelson compete in Japan?
Powerhart
I know middleeasy isn't the most reliable, but if this is true.. oh hell yeah. http://middleeasy.co...catid=35:events It's still a plan/rumor, not yet official, and well... this is Strikeforce, last time they had prepared a tournament/Grand Prix it was the Middleweights and it never got off the ground. I'd love for it to happen, but don't really see it happening in the States or with Fedor (M-1 Global) blocking every fight with contract disputes. Gene Kiniski
I would give my left testicle to see Andrei miraculously knock out Overeem.
bill_da_bill
Suprised Gabe Gonzaga didn't get any talk for the Overeem match. That could've been potentially interesting.
DavidMarrio
Think Gonzaga's pretty much retired from MMA for now from the sound of things when he got cut from the UFC. I'd like to see that fight but Gonzaga just thinks he's a stand up fighter after KO'ing Cro Cop when he should use his BJJ Just one question: Would this tournament be for the heavyweight title that Overeem won or just a grand prix title or something? bolleje
They should do the tournament without Fedor (if he doesn't want in)... They could even do it without Overeem. It's proven that Emelianenko isn't a top draw... Strikeforce has some good heavyweight prospects that could use some spotlight (Shane Del Rosario comes to mind). They can find 8 guys that do the Grand Prix... then the winner gets to fight Overeem for the title (if it isn't vacated by then). At that point they can still have Fedor to fight... bill_da_bill
Apparently Todd Duffee had it on his facebook that he had been contacted about the fight with Overeem. I know he's scheduled to fight in a couple weeks against Abe Wagner, but if this could work out it'd at least be worth the watch.
EddieG
Antonio Inoki is apparently promoting a Bob Sapp fight on the Dynamite!! card.
