The Better Version of the iPod Shuffle Game

Recommended Posts

Okay, let's do this -though I am scared what's randomly going to come up.

1. Paper Airplanes (Makeshift Wings) by AFI

Hmmm... could be worse. I got the 'Sing The Sorrow' album for 'Miseria Cantere' (blame CM Punk >_>), and I already liked 'Girls Not Grey'. The album is great, one of my favs, but this is one of the lesser good songs imo. Still, could have done worse.

2. Messing With My Heart by Paul Camilerri

Little known Swiss (IIRC) blues rock band. Supported Status Quo when they played The Octagon 3 or 4 years ago and they were awesome live. On CD... well, it's a little flat. This song sounds kind of like one of Aerosmith's 'Honkin' On Bobo' tracks. Song is okay, guitar work is better.

3. Sister Europe by Foo Fighters

This is the first time I've listened to this. Basically, I got One by One in a deal (3 for £20 or something like this). It's not bad - quite... mellow. It's like the Deftones a bit.. but, y'know, good. :P

4. Ever Dream by Nightwish

Hmmm... I seem to be getting lesser/more unknown songs by artists I generally like. This is off Century Child which isn't one of my favourite Nightwish albums (Once and Poet and Pendulum are best imo). Still, it's not a bad Nightwish song. In fact, it's pretty good.

5. A Favor House Atlantic by Coheed & Cambria

Ah, this is more like it. One of the better tracks off IKSOSE3 imo.

6. Lying From You by Linkin Park

Niiice. Haven't this for a while. I generally really like Meteora, and this is one of the songs I prefer on it. It's slightly LP-by-numbers, but, let's face it, most songs on Hybrid Theory and Meteora could be accused of that - and it's not necessarily a bad thing.

7. His Latest Flame (Marie's The Name) by Elvis Presley

LOL. A fun l'il chugger I guess.

8. There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Honey by Panic At The Disco

I honestly don't remember actually listening to this. Ever. But I must've done because I know I've listened to the album through. I have to admit, it's not as bad as the rest of the album (fucking awful album) and I could actually listen to this again without feeling compelled to change the track.

9. Suzi-Q by Creedence Clearwater Revival

lol, what a change in direction. Good little song. Reminds me of one of my best friends. Umm.. yeah... that's about it.

10. Can't Stand The Heartache by Skid Row

It's cock rock. Bog standard stuff.

Hmph, I was hoping for better but it was interesting.

1. Avantasia - Twisted Mind

- One of my favourites from an album that is starting to grow on me after initial disappointment. This, along with Another Angel Down and Toymaster make the album worthy of the time it's taken to grow.

2. Van Halen - Jump

- What can I say? It's Van Halen, and one of the most recognisable songs ever. Even if you've never heard of Van Halen, you know all the words to Jump, and you can play it on a keyboard even if you don't know what a keyboard is. Can't ya see what I meeeaaaan?

3. Within Temptation - Restless

- Sharon Den Adel > Amy Lee. In every conceivable way, and most inconceivable ones. This is one of my favourites from them too. Yai yai yaiii, yai yai yaiii, yayayayayaiii, yayayayayaiii... etc. And I get to see them supporting Maiden at Twickenham :D

4. Lordi - Good To Be Bad

- One of Lordi's 'meh' songs. It's like, yeah, they're Lordi. Awesome. But this song isn't one of their best. Decent, just doesn't stand out as a great Lordi song. Sounds like Van Halen with a horrific throat injury ¬_¬.

5. Megadeth - Mary Jane

- Never really got into Megadeth. I mean, they're nice songs to have around on a random playlist, but I can't say I've ever played one because I wanted to hear it. I don't think I've ever heard this song before, as a result of that :shifty: It's ok I guess.

6. Magnum - Before First Light

- Woo, you go Bob Cattley, short people can rock too :P This is probably what you'd get if you decanted the entire 80's decade into an mp3 file. From probably their best album too. Magnum need more love on EWB.

7. Iron Maiden - The Trooper

- Absolutely nothing needs to be said here. Fucking classic song. And one of my favourite basslines, too.

8. Iced Earth - Dragon's Child

- It's Iced Earth. They all tend to sound the same. They're either fantastic or meh. This one is very much meh.

9. System Of A Down - Holy Mountain

- Looooove this song. I'm not a huge SOAD fan, but some of their songs just click with me. This is one of them (Vicinity of Obscenity is another), I love it muchly.

10. Nickelback - Should've Listened

- Oh fuck. My credibility is ruined forever. Yes, I have all Nickelback albums up to and including Silver Side Up, and no, I don't like any of them any more. Although Rockstar is pretty catchy. This song, however, is whiny and boring. If life is that tough. Chad, do us all a favour and Yank Out Your... voicebox. Not that it'd make any difference :shifty:. Also, the first time I heard it I genuinely thought it was a song about his room being messy :shifty: I was like, 14...

Fuck it, lets just do the next ten on my list thats currently playing. An infinitely better 10, or maybe I just feel better.

Avenged Sevenfold - Unholy Confessions

There are moments when I'm REALLY in the mood for some A7X. As this song is currently playing, I'm not sure if its one of those moments, but this is a solid song, if not one of my favorite A7X songs. Thats probably Bat Country basically on the basis of the pure awesomeness of the Fear and Loathing references. Its about what you'd expect from A7X, guitar solos, drums, and screaming.

Public Enemy - Welcome to the Terrordome

I have to admit, I'm not totally sure why this is even on my playlist, as I'm not that big a fan of PE. Their crossover work is great, and Fight the Power is an anthem, but I've always been a much bigger NWA fan. Their social conciousness cannot be denied, and Welcome to the Terrordome is a fine track if you like PE, I guess. Just not my thing.

Marylin Manson - This is the New Shit

Big Manson fan, both Marylin and Charlie. Amazed that old bastard is still alive. Anyway, this is an infinitely sing-a-longable song, with a great chorus. Manson has a great ability to be 'dark' and catchy at the same time. I put dark in quotations because we can all be honest here, Manson is more associated with angsty teenagers than with anything truely evil. Dosen't mean he dosen't make good music.

Southern Culture on the Skids - White Trash

I should get it out of the way that this is not here out of any love for southern rockabilly styled music, and more for my love of professional wrestling. Yes, this is the theme of the one and only 'White Trash' Johnny Webb. Another catchy tune, if not a bit repetative. 'White trash, don't call me that' indeed.

Motorhead - Bow Down to the King

Yes, it is exactly what you think. 'BEHOLD, THE KING, THE KING OF KINGS!'. A live version too, and not live as in Motorhead live, but live as in it sounds like it was ripped from RAW, sadly. Still, one of my favorite WWE entrance themes of all time, with some great imagery, and some nonsensicality. Seriously 'he tasted his grin, and it tasted good'? Fuck, I don't even know if Motorhead is who did it, just who its listed as. Sounds like Lemmy though.

Johnny Cash - I Walk the Line

I will never have a bad word to say about Johnny Cash. The man is a legend. Fuck Elvis, fuck The Beatles, Cash was the motherfucker. Anyone who dosen't like Cash has no soul. Go listen to his live prison show recordings and tell me this man is not a legend. Not one of my favorite Cash songs, but its a classic.

Suicidal Tendencies - Join the Army

JOIN THE ARMY! JOIN THE ARMY! Not my favorite ST song, thats probably Go Skate, but its up there. Just a head banging epic, Suicidal Tendencies is sadly a band that seems to get overlooked by a lot of people.

NoFX - I Want You To Want Me

Fuck knows if its actually NoFX, but thats what it says on the tin. I'm a sucker for a punk cover, and this is your standard cover, nothing too special.

Social Distortion - Sick Boy

Another seemingly overlooked band, especially here on EWB. Social D is one of the best bands of all time, and even I'm criminally neglectful in pimping them. Sick Boy is a fine track, although I'd reccomend Mommy's Little Monster and Angels' Wings, especially the acoustic version of the later to anyone.

Akon - Don't Matter

For some reason I'm a sucker for any track Akon's on. From this, to Sweetest Girl to pretty much anything he's done or collaborated on. Thats all I really have to say about that.

1) Disturbed - Remember

Awesome rhythm that just grabs you and throws you into the song. First started listening to Disturbed after hearing Down With The Sickness in Dawn Of The Dead. It may have been earlier, but I doubt it.

2) Roadrunner United - The End

Nice use of harmony throughout, and a nice consistent flow of music means this song is continuously in my playlist. Picked up after I saw the clip on an episode of Headbanger's Ball.

3) Ozzy Osbourne - Back On Earth

Guess the theme of this list is "Songs from Headbanger's Ball". In all seriousness, one of my favourite songs from Ozzy. His vocals really shine in this one, and with Randy Rhodes backing with guitar, you'd be hard-pressed to ignore it.

4) My Chemical Romance - Helena

Whenever I hear this song, I can't get the clip out of my head. Who dances at a funeral? Not one of my favourites, and doesn't feature too prominently in my playlist of doom.

5) WWE - Prince Of Punk (Shannon Moore)

YES! My favourite entrance music of all-time. Excellent instrumental which always psyches me up for anything. I used to listen to it before going on turf to sell door-to-door. Now I've left that job, it works just as well when I put it on while gaming. FACT: No-one has been able to take me out when this tune's on.

6) The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

An instant classic in my eyes, due to its seemingly "less is more" nature. I've always preferred simplicity to complexity, be it in music, food, art, whatever. The main riff is catchy as all hell.

7) Bullet For My Valentine - Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne Cover)

During one of my random forum sweeps, I saw someone mention this from off the Kerrang! CD. Being a fan of the original, I felt obliged to check it out. Not as good as the original, with one exception. The new version of the main riff, I feel, beats the original.

8) Judas Priest - Electric Eye

Alright, I'll admit it. I only knew about this song through Guitar Hero: 80's. That's no excuse for missing out, however. Judas Priest do a good job of creating memorable songs, and this is no exception.

9) Tenacious D - Classico

I've got a soft spot in my heart for classical music, and when it's adapted well, it's a treat to listen to. Only a shame that it doesn't go for longer. Off the Pick Of Destiny soundtrack. Tenacious D first popped up on my radar when they released "Tribute", and everyone was quoting it at every available opportunity.

10) The Stranglers - Golden Brown

Ha, FOXTEL's pet song. As it was a job for travellers, we had quite a number of Brits working with us. One in particular, Louise (from the North), absolutely loved this song, and was responsible for most of the office adopting it as their ringtone. When I first heard it, I had no idea it was actually about heroin use. :/

1. Oasis - I Hope, I Think, I Know

-The best song off of Be Here Now by a long shot. It's a shame that it gets nowhere near the recognition it deserves nor has it ever been played live. Definitely a good tune to be starting off with.

2. Muse - Ruled by Secrecy

-My least favourite song off of Absolution, but that's kind of pointing out the ugliest broad out of 10 extremely hot ones. So in a way Absolution is a room full of beautiful women and Ruled by Secrecy is the ugliest one. You'd still fuck it though...hard.

3. Morrissey - Hold On To Your Friends

-I've never been able to get into Morrissey's solo shit and I think the main reason for that is because it doesn't have that Johnny Marr quirkiness. The instruments are alot weaker than The Smiths but Hold On To Your Friends is one of the few that can run with the best of The Smiths. Never actually listened to it before but I'll have to throw it onto a playlist to give it more playtime. Quality tune.

4. The New Pornographers - The Spirit of Giving

-See I have the Pornographers overrated (and I'm gonna go duck under a table). I can put them on as background noise to listen to when I'm doing schoolwork because they work well for that. But to actually listen to them when I'm fucking around they don't really fit into that. And since I'm just fucking around right now I can't really get into it.

5. Interpol - Not Even Jail

-Holy fuck, does Interpol ever kick ass. I really need to listen to them more. Like one album a week at least. This is probably one of my favourite 3 songs on Antics for sure and it will get more airtime.

6. Kings of Leon - Arizona

-Another one of those albums I've played once on my iPod and have never listened to again. I think this one is mainly because the singer's voice grates on me quite a bit. The music isn't actually that bad at all though.

7. Mindless Self Indulgence - Tom Sawyer

-I popped a huge boner at the beginning then quickly realized it wasn't the Rush version. Nonetheless the cover is actually pretty solid and I completely forgot I had it on my iPod since I haven't listened to MSI since the summer of '06 which seems like fucking ages ago now.

8. The White Stripes - Bone Broke

-Definitely a skipper. Don't like it that much at all so really don't have much to say. Shouldn't have been on Icky Thump.

9. The Stone Roses - Shoot You Down

Ahh....yes, my second favourite album with my second least favourite song on it. Oh well, it's still a brilliant tune and one that I could listen to anytime, anywhere. Shame the same can't be said about Second Coming but when you take 6 years off you're bound to have some trouble making another quality album. And really they had no chance to match the debut.

10. Culture Club - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me

-Oh fuck my life. I just laughed my ass off harder than I have in a long long time. Why is this on here? And why couldn't it have picked Karma Chameleon.

1. Jammin' - Bob Marley

-Probably my favorite Marley song. So relaxing and reminds me of driving to the beach and just chilling with friends.

2. Gotta Get Thru This- Daniel Bedingfield

-Fucking love this song. Every time I here it, I can't help but sing along. Heard this song way back when it came out a couple of years ago, d/l a few months ago, and a song I like to play before going out.

3. I'm Straight- T.I.

- To be honest, this is the first time I've actually heard this song. I like T.I. and have the majority of his albums but I haven't actually listened to every track. Listening to it now, it has a nice beat and if I were to come across it again, I wouldn't skip it but not a song I would seek to play.

4. Live for the Moment-Matt Hardy

-Really badass entrance song. Reminds me of Version 1 and his awesome Mattitude facts.

5. Senorita-Justin Timberlake

-One of my favorite JT tracks. Beat is chill and infectious. I always find myself sing along to the part towards the end where he asks for the guys to respond.

6. The Brilliant Dance-Dashboard Confessionals

-Song from back in my "emo" days. Can't stand this shit anymore...all it's is fucking whining. Instant skipper.

7. Clothes Off!-Gym Classes Heroes

-Eh, not a bad song. GCH was actually the first ever concert I ever went to. It was a good show and brings back good ass memories. Catchy song with even catchier chorus.

8. Bitter Sweet Symphony-The Verve

-Classic song. Reminds me of high school as this was the song that played during the last segment of our senior video. Not a song I would normally listen to but a good song nonetheless.

9. Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song)-Incubus

-My favorite song by my favorite band. Love absolutely everything about this song. From the first chord to the last, an amazing song. First heard this song a couple months ago and it instantly grew on me. Has the highest play count (341) out of all my songs.

10. Bounce That-DJ Girl Talk

-Borrowed the CD from my friend and burn it onto my computer. Definitely some good mashups, with this one being my favorite. Some really good stuff I would recommend to anyone that likes dance-y/club-y songs that aren't techno-y.

1.) The Union Underground - Natural High

Awesome song, I first heard it at a local indy show, an awesome wrestler named Chris Taylor was using it as his theme. I went home and um...acquired it. I then went out and bought the album.

2.) Robbie Williams - Rock DJ

Ugh. I...honestly have no clue why in the world this is on here. But it makes me tap my foot a little bit. So that's good I guess huh? Is this the song with the video where he rips his skin off or something?

3.) Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart

I remember being huge on this song right after I saw Old School for the first time. The Dan Band version is better.

4.) Metallica - Seek And Destroy (Live at Woodstock)

My favorite band ever, playing a completely badass version tuned down to E-flat with Jason singing the second verse/chorus. Fucking outstanding, actually makes me sort of miss Jason Newsted if only for his awesome backing vocals.

5.) The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice

It's the Beach Boys, what more can be said? Makes me wish summer was here.

6.) Bob Seger - Old Time Rock N Roll

Hell yes. Great follow up from the last song. My parents got me into Seger, and for that I thank them.

7.) Iced Earth - Dracula

From the Horror Show album, this song does a really good job portraying Dracula as a sympathetic figure. Starts slow and soft but Matt Barlow's wails end the peaceful intro and takes us into a totally badass song. I'm so glad Barlow's back with IE. Tim Owens was good, but nothing and no one can touch Barlow.

8.) Soundgarden - Burden In My Hands

In my opinion one of the three best songs Soundgarden ever released. This is Chris Cornell at his best in my opinion. I remember reading the lyrics to this song online and deciding to listen to it. I later went out and bought "Down The Upside" because of it.

9.) Symphony X - Of Sins And Shadows

I saw these guys live at Gigantour a few years back and was blown away by them. This was the first song they played that day. We were like 3 people back from the front, almost as close as we were for Dream Theater and Megadeth, but Symphony X was on a much smaller stage and they rocked the house.

10.) The Platters - The Great Pretender

Doo wop at it's finest. I honestly think that doo wop music is some of the greatest music ever made and this song is one of the best. Nothing like doo wop music to take me back to the summers of my youth.

In Too Deep by Sum 41.

I love Sum 41, Blink, those kinds of bands. They took off in Australia when I was in my impressionable 13's, 14's and 15's. That was ME, maaan. I was THERE.

What I've Done by Linkin Park.

Linkin Park are one of my favourite bands of all time. I don't care that the words turned emo. I don't believe in the lyrics, I just sing em.

Dragula (This song was not tagged by me and I take no responsibility for it's potential mis-naming) by Rob Zombie

I quite enjoy this song - I came across it in boarding school. Not sure why, as RZ is nowhere near what i'd call a favourite artist of mine.

Cats in the Cradle - Cat Stevens version

Interestingly, I never used to get along with my dad, until I went away to boarding school...then I became a slack bludging bastard. I wasn't capable of listening to the song from 2000-2006. Now that I don't feel like a big disappointment to my family, I can enjoy this fine song as much as I like :)

Red to Black by Fort Minor

Came to The Rising Tied for Mike Shinoda. Stayed for Fort Minor. Fantastic Album imo. Like LP above (ironically) I don't believe in all of the lyrics, but good songs all the same. Good song to sing to, especially the end bit.

Defy You by The Offspring

The Offspring are quite awesome, and this song is really good for amping myself up.

For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic by Paramore

I discovered Misery Business on NHL 08, asked for the album for Christmas, got it and....Wow. Paramore are fucking fantstic. (Benji has no taste)

Book of Days by Enya

I would call Enya one of my guilty pleasures, but I am absolutely not ashamed. Beautiful music coupled with her voice.. it is uplifting and relaxing all at the same time. Utterly sublime from start to finish. One Step, One Fall, One Falter...I'll find my day maybe...Far and Away...Far and Away

She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5

Maroon 5 are another of my favourite bands. Easy to listen to, easy to sing along with. Relaxing times all-around.

Shiver by RHCP

Yes, I can't spell it. My favourite band of all time, and one of my favourite so-fuckit, I love pretty much everything they do. The Peppers can't put a foot wrong in my book.

Eternal Elysium - No Isolation

- Japanese stoner rock. They've been goin' for a while, but this album - their most recent - is the only thing I've heard from them. Pretty rockin' stuff, but not something I listen to all that often unless one of their songs happen to pop up on shuffle.

Blotted Science - Activation Synthesis Theory

- Listened to the album for the first time a week ago or so, and I'm really likin' it - it might be the best instrumental metal CD I've heard. This is a very trippy, very cool song, and one of the highlights.

Calmando Qual - Insanity

- Japanese industrial/goth rock rock band, according to last.fm. It's getting pretty good now, towards the end of the song, but otherwise it's kind of boring.

Faith No More - From Out of Nowhere

- The first time I listened to The Real Thing I thought it was one big joke, since the vocals were just ridiculous, especially considering how good they were on Angel Dust. I eventually grew to like the album, but I'm still not a fan of Patton's voice on it, particularly not on this song, although I always get a kick out of listening to it.

Wayd - Dawning

- Pretty good song by one of the best, most innovative and most underrated Death Metal acts out there.

An Cafe - Smile Ichiban Ii Onna

- I wouldn't be caught dead listening to this, but dammit if it isn't catchy as hell. >_<

Nobuo Uematsu (I'm assuming) - Don of the Slums (Final Fantasy VII)

- Not really a song fit for, well, anything, when taken outside of FF VII-context. Still, Don Corneo is the man.

King Diamond - The Candle (live in '87)

- King Diamond is just about the only good thing to come out of the Danish metal scene, but to be fair, he is about as awesome as you can get. Great performance of a great song.

Type O Negative - Life Is Killing Me

- People seemed pretty disappointed in the Life Is Killing Me-CD, but I always thought it was good, and I've been listening to it a lot lately. This, the title track, may not be Black # 2 or an all-time classic, but it's still a really fun listen.

The Birthday Massacre - Looking Glass

- Catchy. I like it. Not sure how I ever started listening to these guys, though.

Bone Marrow - Protest the Hero

From the album Fortress, recently released. Album compared to Kezia is very poor but this song itself isn't terrible, one of my favourite songs behind Bloodmeat in an album that doesn't rate as highly as I hoped it would. It's still a pretty decent album and I will continue to listen to it, it may be a grower.

I'd Like To Know - DnTel ft. Lali Puna

Ah DnTel, essentially a band to inform you all why I am better than most of you to be honest. Okay so it's no Dumb Luck or Roll On featuring the lovely Jenny Lewis but it's definitely listenable and is actually one of my more favourite songs off a great album that I love to listen to when walking the dog, probably because it's nice and relaxing, very calming and just an allround great album.

Rock For Sustainable Capitalism - Propagandhi

From Potemkin City Limits, another of those good but not the best songs. Definitely one of my more favoured songs off the album and I usually just let this play after Die Jugend Marschiert. Propagandhi are just one of those bands, or this album is at least, one of those that I'll come back in 5 years and it'll no better and certainly no worse, it's just fucking good, fucking heavy and a great listen when you just want something to kinda pound your head.

The Bind - Cigar

Okay so YI sent me this album and I'd never heard of them before, the only song I can really remember is Mr. Hurtardo but it's come on and I'm giving it a listen and it's definitely a solid track. Whether it ranks close to the best tracks I couldn't honestly tell you as I haven't listened to "Speed is Relative" nearly enough to remember which is good and which isn't, but listening now, I'd certainly listen again.

Mind Of My Own - Strung Out

Possibly my favourite song off Twisted by Design. Fucking killer opening riff, just fucking awesome. Whether it's better than MatchBOOK (you torrent making pisskittens) or not is debatable, Deville and Reason to Believe are fucking great too. But I can imagine this song sounds so much better live, I mean it's great as it is, but it just sounds like the sort of track you wanna hear live whilst standing 4 yards from the stage and jumping around like a fucking retard. .. I love this fucking song, i love Strung Out and I certainly love Jason fucking Cruz.

Killing Through Song - Ryan's Hope

Sometimes I forget how great this album is, there's so many good songs on it. This is one of them, there's probably better but it's fucking catchy, fast, punkish, has the solo guitar work, infectious lyrics and just a great feel to it. I'm going to listen to this album more sometime because it's so catchy and punkish. Everyone give Apocalypse in Increments a listen, it's punk but the speed and his voice just give it a more happy feel - even if the lyrics are about other matters, it's just good to listen to.

Your Revolution is a Joke - Funeral for a Friend

Remember when FFAF were fucking awesome. This was then. Casually Stressed (yes... Stressed ¬_¬) and Deep in Conversation is such a good album, and the first 5 songs or so are fucking killer than I forget how awesome the end is. I prefer Waking Up and Novella to this song, as this is your typical slow song all acoustic, so it doesn't give me a whole FFAF feel to it. This is possibly my least favourite song in general on the album, although it'll have times of being much much better than that, but this song isn't the sort of thing I want when I fire on FFAF. Great album though, still listening to it now.

The Score - Chris Walla

Ah the DCFC members own album. And It's fucking ace. This is one of my favourite songs, it's a real rocky song that comes after a slow-start, not slow as in bad, slow as in phyiscally a slow song and this is more infectious and rocky. The whole album is great, and I remember first listen to the whole thing this is my favourite album. I probably prefer Archer V. Light, Everybody On, Everyone Needs a Home and possibly Geometry &C more, and the rest of the songs are all pretty awesome with the last two being the worst, It's Unsustainable kinda drains me for the final song. I just love his voice, it's something that loads of people can relate to and the whole album is awesome and this song is great.

The First Drop - Rise Against

I don't know a single Rise Against who would name this as one of their favourite songs, but I don't know many. For me Rise Against is all about the RPM album and then a collection of other songs. To be honest, this is fucking good. It sets a tone for Rise Against, his grainy voice is just what you want to hear, the pounding guitars and heavy drumming, it's just Rise Against the long verse endings that lead into a fast, catchy chorus. I forget how awesome this album is, it has it's moments thats for sure, deffo not an all time favourite of mine but Rise Against just stand the test of time and are fucking awesome.

Uniform - Bloc Party

What can I say? Bloc Party never cease to amaze me. I fucking love them. I listened to their stuff when they first hit the scene, I liked Banquet but I never got their albums. Couple of months ago I realised that I really needed to get their stuff, I got their first two albums and I have Flux as well if you dont wanna class that second album or not - suit yourself. Now most people dislike the A Weekend In The City album, not because it's poor - because it's the opposite - but I guess because it's strained far from their first Silent Alarm album. Now if you think that, you have fucked ears because this album is fucking awesome. Now what I like about this song is the slow build up it generates through the whole album. It kinda fluctuates between slow and less slow, slow and less slow and then finally kicks in and just really sums up Bloc Party as fucking awesome. When it kicks in at 2:27 you just know that the song is going on the up. I'm going to stop rambling and just leave you with the thought of how fucking amazing Bloc Party are.

I got a good 10 there, I'll be truthful, I skipped 1 track "Track 3" from one of the 101 Dance Anthems albums I have. I don't listen to them, and haven't even bothered to learn what the song is and change it. So I figured I'd skip it as I've never actually listened to it, it's a bit unfair to put it on my playlist.

Fucking good 10 though, shows my musical prowess I reckon :D

Rise Above by The Misfits From the Cuts from the Crypt album it's not bad, the sound quality keeps it from being good, and I dislike the abrupt melody change in the beginning of the song, it sounds like a mistake, even though it isn't.

Blood Brothers by Iron Maiden It's about 7 minutes long, like most Maiden songs are. It's pretty good, like most Maiden songs are. It's more power-ballady than I'd like, though.

We Don't Die(non-rock version) by Twiztid This song is kinda lame, the original version of the song has distorted guitars in the musical portion, but this version just takes those out and leaves the percussion track. It's not even a 're-mix', it's a half-done mix.

Sunday Morning Coming Down by Johnny Cash I'm not a huge fan of Johnny Cash, but I like a few of his songs. A 60 year old woman I hang out with brought this song to my attention.

Take It Off by The Donnas I'm surprised. I did not recall having this song on mp3 player, or ever downloading it.

Cyclone by Dub Pistols Yeah, I downloaded this after hearing in a Tony Hawk game. The soundtracks were always one of the best parts of Tony Hawk games.

The Answer by Bad Religion I like Bad Religion. I want a Bad Religion shirt. But I can't find a good Bad Religion shirt. Why don't they make good Bad Religion shirts? Fuck Bad Religion for not making good shirts.

Jeans Blue by Shonen Knife What? Fuck you guys, I like them. They're like The Ramones if the Ramones were a bunch of japanese chicks instead of american dudes.

American Psycho by The Misfits Great song. I HATE PEOPLE! The only downside is that this was sort of the beginning of The Misfits basing near every song after a specific horror movie. I HATE PEOPLE!

Like A White Bat In A Box, Dead Matters Go On by Melt Banana Yeah... If you've never heard Melt Banana, I don't know how to describe them. They're just weird. Not in a good Primus/Devo way, or a bad way. They're just weird in a average way. They have awesome song titles, though. My favorite is "Avert your eyes, a beast in the well on your hand".

I bring to you....."STRUNG OUT" SHUFFLE!!!

1. "The Misanthropic Principle" by Strung Out

Recently Strung Out fans tend to be a bit harsh on "Exile In Oblivion". I admit, the production wasn't the best, but Strung Out's production rarely is, but the tunes are absolutely amazing. This is the closing track of the album, which means, in typical Strung Out style it is absolutely amazing. The drumming in this track is downright phenomenal (the kick drum at the end of the 2nd chorus =), and the riff is so catchy. It's got a big epic chorus and a verse that just wants you to scream along. I just love everything about it. One of my favourite EIO tracks. This song also reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It must have been shortly after EIO's release, I was blasting it while playing GTA, it got to this song so I pressed the 'repeat' button on Winamp, but I'd accidentally pressed track repeat...it repeated this track for the best part of an hour, and I never once got sick of it.

2. "Lost" by Strung Out

This is one of the SO songs that makes me really want to see them live, at least once. It's from their debut, "Another Day In Paradise". It's a catchy song, but the reason I love it so much is that I downloaded a live bootleg and this was one of the tracks. Bear in mind, this is a track which at the time was about 12/13 years old, and for the past 6/7 years had rarely, if ever, been played live (it really wasn't one of the 'popular' tracks from ADIP) but as soon as the riff kicks in, the place goes fucking nuts and throughout the tune Jason's basically being drowned out by fans singing along...insane...it's stuff like that, where the 'forgotten songs', get so much love, that makes me really want to experience the band firsthand.

3. "Blew" by Strung Out

One of my favourite Strung Out tracks. They really started pushing themselves with "The Element Of Sonic Defiance". There was the likes of "Mission To Mars" which was balls to the wall hardcore, with fierce dischords and frantic vocals. Then there was tunes like this and "Razorblades", which were a lot slower than SO were used to putting out. I love this because it sounds so fucked up and dark, everything from the distorted, slurring voice of the verse to the chorus, with screaming, wailing, interlapping vocals and the accompanying guitar riff...the chorus especially really takes this song away from your typical punk-rock affair, with it sounding more like a song from Sunnay Day Real Estate's mid-90's catalogue. Then there's the ending, with the weird circus style music and the soundbyte from "My Dinner With Andre".

4. "Vampires" by Strung Out

Once again, back to EIO. "Vampires" from the get-go was one of my favourite tracks on the album. It's dark and brooding, and a lot slower than your typical SO affair. It's got a creepy, building verse but a catchy snippet of a chorus. And then comes in the guitar riff. Nothing flash at all, but the two guitars harmonise and it just sounds absolutely amazing. And the bit during the last chorus, one of the best production jobs on EIO, where the moving guitar is panned from left to right speaker quickly, it sounds absolutely amazing. "Na-na-na they bury us in sand! Na-na-na together hand in hand!"

5. "Rottin' Apple" by Strung Out

This is the "Live In A Dive" version of the track. It's absolutely killer. back when Strung Out were too fast for their own good. No matter how hard you try, there's no fucking way you're getting these vocals all in. A really 'important' Strung Out song, as it deals a lot on the subject of change, wasted chances and longetivity, which is a 'big deal' with a band like Strung Out, who always want to evolve, change style, with not one album being similar in sound or subject.

6. "Firecracker" by Strung Out

Now we're here with the opener from "Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues". From the get-go with the building bass riff you know that this is going to be one hell of a song. Once again Jason's vocal work is at lightning fast speed. Whilst far from a 'political'-punk band, this track does have a political message. And the "War On Terror" has seemingly brought this back as a permenant fixture on their setlists, which is awesome, as it definately is a killer song. The riffs are outstanding. Now all I have to do is see them play it. :shifty:

7. "Broken" by Strung Out

Once again with the old Strung Out. This time again from 1994's "Another Day In Paradise". Very much an 'old school' sounding punk, vibe to this track. The drumming is some of my favourite on ADIP though. It's nothing flash especially what Jordan can pull out in later years, but especially during the verse it really adds to the song, and sounds amazing. I really like the fact things are changed up a fair bit during this track. Different strumming patterns, drum fills and vocal lines in each verse/chorus and the like. Incredibly catchy song. ADIP is one hell of an album, the bands sound has progressed so much, you'd be hard to even associate them as the same band, but the progression has been done so well.

8. "All The Nations" by Strung Out

From the old to the new. This is an offering from last years, "Blackhawks Over Los Angeles"...and damn how things have changed. This can be 'summed up' in 3 parts; 80's classic-metal style riff/little solo (in sound and style), Alk3-"Mercy Me" style verse and a 'massive' Lost Prophets style chorus you just want to 'bounce' to...yet they tie this all together with the Strung Out charm, making it sound so fresh.

9. "Lubricating The Revolution" by Strung Out

After EOSD came the full album and Strung Out's highest album chart position, "An American Paradox". It saw them venture out into more slower songs, a few more 'hardcore' style tracks and an all-in-all more 'alt-rock' approach. In fact, you'd be hard pushed to find the simple 'punk-rock' styled songs on here, including the more 'hardcore' styled songs there's only 6...maybe 7 that I'd class as punk-rock sounding songs. This is one of them. It clocks in at under 2-minutes, but the vocal line is killer, there's a nice little solo. It's basically balls to the wall throughout, similar to the STWB tracks (slower vocals <_<), it slows down for nothing. Amazing.

10. "Drag Me Down" by Strung Out

Once again back to ADIP. This song's nothing special. Nice melodies, nothing flash. But a good song. Hasn't aged the best as it's bland compared to their newer material. The chorus is pretty catchy though.

1. Slipknot - Vermillion II

Ahhh, I actually quite like this song. After my initial YEAH SLIPKNOT faze, I fell away from liking that kind of music and then a few years later, someone told me that they had an "acoustic" song out, and I decided to check it out on a whim one time, have liked it ever since although I haven't really listened to it recently.

2. The Trews - Poor Ol' Broken Hearted Me

Now here's a band that I only started to like recently. You see, The Trews started coming around at the same time that the popular Canadian music scene,.. wasn't popular at all. And you had to have an annoying beard, apparently. So I wrote them off mostly, but recently I've been listening to them more... since the whole fad is done with, and I quite like the CD that I missed. This is probably my second favorite song from them, and hey... it has a fucking cowbell.

3. Hellogoodbye - Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn (Take It Back To Square One)

Yeah, I'm probably going to have to listen to this full song before I start doing the next one. Lord knows that everyone needs more happy music and Hellogoodbye is always good for that... even though I really hate the term powerpunk or.. powerpop, or whatever the hell people call them. I really don't mind the synth though.

4. The Starting Line - Direction

It took me a while to come around and listen to The Starting Line's recent CD, but when I read about their recent label problems in an Alternative Press magazine, I decided to check them out and I really like what they're doing now. This is the case of a band that I grew up with, and dealt with a lot of people saying how shit it was, this was before emo was even a buzzword... but it's good to see that their sound grew up and all in all, it's just catchy shit.

5. The Who - Baba O'Reilly

I can't even remember the first time that I ever heard this song, but I DID go through years thinking that it was called Teenage Wasteland. I have this gut feeling that there around many songs on my hardrive right now that aren't really under their original names, but rather what people think... so if that happens with any of my other songs, don't blame me please. I don't really have to say a lot about Baba O'Reilly.

6. Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah

Ohhh, this has grown to be one of my all-time favorite songs and after major considerations, other versions may sound better... but nothing is ever going to trump Cohen's original. Just an awesome song from one of Canada's greatest lyricists and poets. I just picked up one of his poetry books yesterday, so I might be turning to that when I'm done here.

7. Depeche Mode - People Are People

You know, I never really got what the big deal was with Depeche Mode for about... 17 years of my life, so it was only recently that I started to listen to them. I really don't mind them, it's good music although yeah, it's a music period that I entirely missed. The best use of (seemingly) a drum machine that I have ever seen to tell the truth. Plus it's catchy as hell... and has a good message, even though I'm quite hateful. <_<

8. Matthew Good - Comfortable Criminals

I knew a Matthew Good song would pop up, it just had to... hell with the odds on one of them coming up I'm surprised it took until eight. I love this song although it remains in a state that ends up sounding like a rough demo... but there's just that X factor for me that seems to be in every one of Matt's songs... so this is the second song that I'm going to be listening to all the way through.

9. SS Cardiacs - No No

This is the band that shibby sang for, is that not right? Either way, I lost the three that she sent me a long while ago and this was the only one that I was able to recover... I remember really liking it and I still do to this day, although I hope that I got the song title right after doing a little digging. Happy song.

10. Matthew Good - Big City Life

See what I told you?

So I'm bored and have thus decided to use YI's idea of doing a single band so here is the Oasis Shuffle.

1. Oasis - Acquiesce

-Listening to this song just reminds of how much cocaine Noel Gallagher must have snorted during 1994-1995. How this ended up being a B-side, along with many more songs to numerous to mention, the world may never know. What's even more incredible is it took the Brothers Gallagher so long afterwards to do another duet.

2. Oasis - D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman

-The first Noel sung Oasis and another B-side, this time to Shakermaker. As much as I love this song I'm glad it only made it to be a B-side. I wouldn't mind seeing it as an album song but it wouldn't really fit into an album. It's just a good song to put on when your chilling out.

3. Oasis - She Is Love

-Heh, 3 songs and all 3 of them thus far have been either Noel-sung or a duet. It's not a bad tune, She Is Love, but the fact that it's on the same album as Liam's Songbird it gets ignored big time. And even though I don't find it the greatest Noel should have realized that Songbird would outclass anything else on Heathen Chemistry and save this for a B-side.

4. Oasis - Helter Skelter

-4 for 4. But I have to say why wouldn't Liam sing this? I mean if you can think of one Beatles song, sans I Am The Walrus, that Liam would sound better on than Helter Skelter than I'd be impressed. It just screams for him snarling into the mic. Oh well, I won't go out of my way to listen to this cover but I don't mind it when it pops up.

5. Oasis - Take Me Away

-Oh come on, Noel hasn't really sung this many songs has he? Oh well, it's a pretty boring tune. I can him trying to recapture Half The World Away or Talk Tonight here but it didn't really work. And some of the lyrics are just meh...on second thought I just double-checked and it says this was on the Supersonic single. I could have sworn Spaceman was the first Noel song. I'll have to double-check that now. So ignore the whole HTWA and TT reference for now. :shifty:

6. Oasis - Cum On Feel The Noize

- 6 for fucking 6, but this is live and I think there may be a version of Liam doing it out there. Oh well, it's another solid cover through I'm sure Liam would sound better doing this again so I'll look into whether he does have a version out there or not.

7. Oasis - Keep The Dream Alive

-And there is Liam. Off of Don't Believe The Truth I find it to be one of the songs I really underrate and don't give enough spins. Honestly if the next album turns out to sound like this tune then I wouldn't mind at all. Actually along with Turn Up The Sun, Andy was on fucking fire for the album. Two really good tunes.

8. Oasis - Flashbax

-And back to Noel and what is up with the text speak. Actually it probably had more to do with the dyslexia. Anyway this is another example of a good B-side from the Shoulders era that could have made the album better than a couple of the songs that were on it (I'm looking at you Let's All Make Believe)

9. Oasis - Angel Child

-Honestly this is absurd. Another Noel-sung acoustic song and I'm really starting to notice how many of them there are. This is actually a pretty good tune but one that I won't go out of my way to listen to.

10. Oasis - Idler's Dream

-9 out of 10, unbelievable for the secondary singer of a group. Another acoustic one that is pretty solid too but I don't listen to all that much. And honestly I'm getting bored talking about the same thing over and over so bye...edit: okay it kicks major ass at the end.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Tangled Up In Plaid

My favourite song from one of my favourite QOTSA albums, criminally underrated, and this is a great song, with a chilling beginning and a rocking chorus.

The Doors - Light My Fire

Awesome, awesome song. My love for it was briefly weakened a few years ago when Will Young murdered it, but after listening to this version again it's as great as ever.

Gorillaz - Dirty Harry

Just recently got back into this album after I overplayed it when it first came out, this is one of the better tracks on it in my opinion, catchy tune and I think the choir adds a nice touch to it.

Lily Allen - LDN

One of my guilty pleasures, I actually really like Lily's album and this a nice, summer tune and one of the better songs from the album, looking forward to her releasing some new material.

The Roots - The Seed 2.0

I absolutely love this song, I've been getting into hip-hop a bit more recently and The Roots' Phrenology album is one of the best hip-hop albums I own so far, and this song is probably my favourite from it, I'd recommend it highly.

Girls Aloud - Call The Shots

Yeah, fuck off :shifty: Incredibly guilty pleasure, I just really like the chorus and I think Girls Aloud are pretty decent as far as pop music goes.

Suede - Animal Nitrate

I see that the above poster also had this, and I agree that Suede can be hit and miss, but I think this song is absolutely brilliant, great catchy chorus and a song that encapsulates everything that can be awesome about Suede.

Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored

Truly amazing song, the song that got me into the Stone Roses who are now my favourite band. I still maintain that this is the greatest song intro of all time, and I just remember being so overawed the first time I listened to it on my headphones. I was lucky enough to see a live version of it when I went to see Ian Brown a few months ago, it sent shivers down my spine.

Oasis - Columbia

My favourite Oasis song, from Definitely Maybe, and it's a song that although it wasn't a single deserves to be more popular than it is because it's brilliant. Great intro, great tune, and great instrumental outro. Apparently the song was originally meant to be an instrumental, and I would have been interested to hear an instrumental-only version of it because I imagine it would sound great.

Big Arm - Flashbacks

This band is fronted by Paul Ryder (ex-Happy Mondays) and their sound is often Mondays-esque. Since I thought the new Happy Mondays album sucked a dick, listening to this is the next best thing, and Flashbacks is one of the better tunes from it.

The Pogues - Dirty Old Town

Fantastic song. Not my favourite Pogues song by a long shot, but still a great song.

Kill Hannah - The Chase

Meh. Not bad, but I don't really dig it. I knew someone really into the band so I had them reccomend me an album, so they reccomended that I get their newest, Hope For The Hopeless. It's not bad, but not really to my liking. I like their cover of Rebel Yell a little more.

Th' Legendary Shack Shakers - Thin The Herd

Awesome band. They've got this whole punk/country/rockabilly influence going on and it fuses together really nice. This isn't really one of my favourite songs by them, but I can listen to the whole album all the way through without feeling the need to skip any tracks.

Say Anything - The Presidential Suite (Electric Edition)

Can't really form a decent opinion of Say Anything, this is actually my first time listening to them. >_> I got a greatest hits album and added it to my iTunes library, but up until now I hadn't listened to anything from it. Not a terrible song, though.

Dr. Donuts - Carrot & Sticks

Only have this album because it's on a Trigun soundtrack, bit of a bizarre song, but I like it.

Theodore Unit ft. Solomon Childs - Work

Meh. I like Theodore Unit because of the association with Wu-Tang Clan and Ghostface Killah, but this song is one of the weaker ones on the 718 album. Solomon Childs is a really boring, plain rapper and not a good lyricist at all.

Eminem - Ass Like That

... Pass. PASS. PAAAAAAAAAASS. Worst Eminem song ever. I only have this album for songs like Like Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird and Mosh. The rest is garbage, 100%.

Busta Rhymes ft. Raekwon - Money Like Back In The Days

Another album I have for only a few songs, but I like this song well enough. Mostly for the Raekwon goodness. Busta's okay, but Raekwon > Busta every time. FACT.

Minor Threat - I Don't Wanna Hear It

\m/ Awesome song.

I don't wanna to hear it

All you do is talk about you

I don't wanna to hear it

'Cause I know that none of it's true

I don't wanna to hear it

Sick and tired of all your lies

I don't wanna to hear it

When are you gonna realize...

THAT I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT?

KNOW THAT YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT!!

sooo awesome.

Soundgarden - All Your Lies

Alright song, certainly by no means a favourite nor is Ultramega OK a favourite Soundgarden album. Still, it's worth a listen for songs like Flower.

This could be interesting, I need to do some serious Spring cleaning to my library, my cousin recently gave me a loaded Data DVD with albums, some I like, some I don't and some I don't really know all that well, go shuffle!

1Modest Mouse - Steam Engenius

Fantastic band, fantastic song and a fantastic album. I liked Modest Mouse before this album was out mostly for what to this day is my favourite song of all time: Float On and then I kinda forgot about them until We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank was released, one o the few 2007 albums I could listen to on shuffle and not mind which song came on because, though I don't like them all equally, every one of them has their merits.

2The Offspring - Hit That

Offspring were one of the first American bands I started to like when I first got into rock, though I find myself entirely disinterested in most of their songs(this one included) now, I don't mind listening to them every now and again.

3Kings of Leon - Joe's Head

I have grown to love Kings of Leon, I really liked Molly's Chambers/Red Morning Light but never bothered to download or search for other KOL stuff. After hearing On Call I thought it was catchy but nothing special. I passed up the chance to see them at T in the Park last July so I still wasn't too interested then out of nowhere, on a drunken night, I played Because of the Times and it just clicked. I've downloaded their older albums and this is one of the standout tracks from a loaded album.

4Willy Mason - Save Myself

Not too familiar with this album but this song is definately good stuff. I don't really know what else to say since I'm not all that familiar with Mason just yet. I find his voice very soothing and love oxygen.

5The Zutons - You Will, You Won't

I'm not a huge Zutons fan but the songs I do like I like quite a lot. They have their own sound and a catchiness to stick in my head so I find myself singing either this,Pressure Point or(before Winehouse ruined it for me) Valerie while working or whatever. Good song, one I wouldn't choose to listen to but will happily play when it comes up.

6The Kooks - Ooh La

I'm not sure how popular my opinion on the Kooks would go round these here parts but, yeah fuck it, I like them. Their one of the better catchy pop/indie bands that have surfaced recently and this is one of the first songs I heard from them before their album was out. I unashamedly say I look forward to their second album. "OOH LA, she was such a good girl to me"

7The Rakes - Violent

I have never heard this song before, but I love The Rakes. Or at least they are a band I could see myself loving if I were to ever give them a real chance. I like the singles from Ten New Messages and a couple songs from Capture/Release but I haven't sat down and paid attention to the albums as a whole. After listening to this song al the way through sounds above decent.

8Foo Fighters - Another Round(Live from the Skin and Bones album)

I have to be in the mood to enjoy acoustic songs, when I am in the mood though I really enjoy Foo Fighters, I think for a band that has a reputation (amongst a lot fo the people I know personally) as all shouting and heavy drums, they are good at doing the delicate and calming songs too. I lvoe me some Dave Grohl.

9Foo Fighters - Best of You(Live from the Skin and Bones album)

This was actually the first Foo Fighters song I liked and "owned". Right now, I don't really have an interest in listening to it

10The Beatles - A Little Help From My Friend

Classic Beatles. Classic song. Classic.
