The Wonder Years- You're Not Salinger, Get Over It

MY FRIENDS AND I...WE'RE ALL FUCKED ON THE INSIDE!!!!

TUNE!!!

Because I'm incredibly bored...and I used to do this at one time...here's my current top 10...heavily Los Campesinos! weighted. :D

10. "Go Anywhere" by All The Above

http://www.myspace.com/alltheaboveuk

Such a shame these went on indefinate hiatus before they even begun. From the 2 songs they made public they had all the tools to be the UK's Paramore. Still, they're two absolutely cracking tunes, this one's a nice little acoustic one. I really love the bridge section between verse and chorus. Awesome.

9. "All Your Kayfabe Friends" by Los Campesinos!

n/a

"You asked if I could be anyone from history/Fact or fiction, dead or alive/I said I'd be Tony Cascarino/Circa 1995"...enough said.

8. "For Better, For Worse" by Sportsday Megaphone

http://www.myspace.com/sportsdaymegaphone

Will be supporting Styrofoam at the London show (which I'm still not sure whether to go to) on their UK tour. This song has a bit of a (good) Crystal Castles vibe. Dancey like CC's best tunes, a little erratic and 'shouty' vocals. It just sounds cool as fuck, and makes you want to dance about. Getting hold of his album now, after being all over his myspace for the past few days. Fucking brilliant band name too.

7. "Crashing" by Jack's Mannequin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX1eGQg3GXo

The definate standout track from Andrew McMahon's sophomore Jack's Mannequin release. I first heard a snippet of this track back when he gave an interview to Absolute Punk band in January. And since then I fell in love with it. It was only 15-seconds, tops, of the chorus, but you just knew from there it would be an incredible song. And it is.

6. "You're Not Salinger, Get Over It" by The Wonder Years

http://www.myspace.com/thewonderyearspa

An absolutely killer tune. There's songs that you just know, as soon as the opening riff hits, are going to be face meltingly awesome, this is one of those. I'm sure this brand of pop-punk/melodic hardcore/powerpop, whatever you want to call it (BOUNCEY MUSIC!!!!), fronted by the likes of; Four Year Strong, Me Vs Hero, The Wonder Years, Fight Fair, Paige etc, will eventually get old. But for the time being, it's been the soundtrack to my year.

5. "Ways To Make It Through The Wall" by Los Campesinos!

http://www.imeem.com/people/z-ORZHp/music/...rough_the_wall/

A massive tune to kick off the new album. One of the catchiest choruses that these lads and lasses have put together. You just know it's going to be a live favourite. I was a little apprehensive about the album, what with it coming out mere months after their debut, but the first time through this song put my at ease, in fact I skipped back and listened to it again it was so good.

4. "We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed" by Los Campesinos!

http://www.imeem.com/miggyshiggy/music/oSk..._we_are_doomed/

The title track from Los Campesinos! second album, and it's a beauty. Los Campesinos! are great as every song has some incredible memorable bits. Whether it be bits of instrumentation or some lyrics. I personally find Los Camp's lyrics to be great, yeah, they're a bit 'tacky' at times, but I can't help but love lines like..."When you got drunk, ate loads of crisps/And threw up by a football pitch"...actually, the lyrics to this are fucking epic.

3. "Spaceman" by The Killers

I first heard this at Leeds, and it blew me away. I honestly never thought The Killers could write another chorus as, if not more anthematic than "Mr Brightside". Lyrically, it's standard Killers bollocks, but that chorus is huge. A definate single from the new album. Say what you want about Killers, they're generally a great singles band (Besides "Bones", which was fucking shite).

2. "Dorothy's Right, There's No Place Like Home" by Paige

http://www.myspace.com/paigeuk

Paige are an absolutely killer pop-punk band from the UK. The EP they put out last year was top notch and this is a new song, that was probably my most played tune of the summer. Catchier than syphillis and cheesy as hell, in just the right ways, if you don't like this song, even if it's just in a throwaway, pop-punk, reminds you of being 13 again, way...you clearly have no soul and will burn in hell for all eternity.

1. "Promise" by The Maybes?

http://www.myspace.com/themaybesliverpool

The Maybes? are an indie-pop band who go totally out of left-field with the title track of their debut album. This is basically a 12-minute instrumental dance-groove. I stumbled across them at Leeds and they played this, and basically had everyone at the stage dancing, was awesome. There's 'moody' post-rock styled interludes in this, just an absolutely cracking track. Everytime I listen to this I have flashbacks to the girl in a leopard print tanktop dancing in front of me...one of the greatest arses I have ever seen.

Shut me up - Mindless Self Indulgence

Awesome song, awesome band.

Awesome awesome. MSI are good. Kill the rock is a better song.

I love this band at the moment, love the sound they have, and its nice to finally like a band from Hackney. Reprazent. Ukelele > Guitar.

"Goodbye Baby and Amen" by Pizzicato Five. It's one of those songs where I just can't listen to it and NOT be happy as a result. My biggest regret is that I can't find it online so I can link it, it's Shibuya-kei at its most gloriously laid-back and poppy.
