nPower Football League Thread 2010/2011

I figured it would be something alcohol related since I can only assume "getting pissed" is what "socialising" is these days.

Pretty foolish of them really, and ultimately has cost them dear as they could be confined to the play offs and that's never a sure thing. QPR decision notwithstanding of course.

It was originally indicated that the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on the charges against QPR and Mr Gianni Paladini concerning Alejandro Faurlin and on any sanction, if appropriate, would be announced by 4pm on Friday 6 May if possible. This will not now happen. A decision will be made and announced as soon as possible thereafter.

Ah great. Absolutely useless, so we can't start the playoffs until the decision is made and everyone's bitched and moaned for a week or so.

Nope, they've also told the clubs currently involved in the play-off's that no matter what the delay ends up being, the first legs will go ahead as planned on schedule. So if QPR do get points deducted I suppose those games become declared null and the process starts over? I imagine if a player involved got injured in one of those games their club would be mad as hell.

I mean it is entirely possible that they will announce something tomorrow, but just after 4pm?

I'm sure I read somewhere that the clubs had been told the opposite; i.e. the playoffs could be delayed if there was any appeals from anyone (as there will be, no matter which way this turns out) but the final will remain on the same date.

I have a feeling QPR are going to get away with a heavy fine, which wouldn't be down with anyone at all. mad.gif

To be fair, that's what it should be, points deductions are retarded, it punishes the fans rather than the people who made the fuck up in the first place. I'm still, selfishly, hoping for a 20-ish point deduction though :pervert:

Talking of Leeds and penalties:

The Football Association has charged Leeds and Burnley over United's fiery 1-0 win at Elland Road on Saturday.

Both sides are accused of failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

Chris McCann's tackle on Max Gradel sparked a melee in the second half, earning the Clarets midfielder one of the eight bookings in the game.

Both clubs have until 1600 BST on Friday to respond.

Seeing as we don't have a non-league thread...

AFC Wimbledon beat Fleetwood Town 2-0 away from home in their play-off semi-final first leg. I want them to go up so badly, especially as it looks as if it would probably be at Luton's expense.

I get a strong feeling that, should QPR get a points deduction it'll end up like administration deadlines. Any points deduction (if any) would be enforced during the next season just for the sake of making sure that everything else doesn't need to be shuffled around.

There is so many variables that could lead to hefty legal challenges that it just makes sense to postpone the punishment.

For some reason, I think QPR will be deducted the exact amount of points to make them lose the championship but not the promotion. QPR have been miraculously dominant all season, it would be extremely unfair to strip them of promotion.

Ahh another fan of Luton. Well, we completely outplayed Wrexham, and have had the much better of the games against Wimbledon this year, but that means nothing when we get to Eastlands.

As a Luton fan, I expect QPR to get hit by a points deduction for a very similar offence to us. We got hit by a 10 point penalty for it, and that is just one of their charges. But, they are a bigger club than us, and I therefore expect them to go easier on them.
