2011 NFL Season

San Francisco 49-er Braylon Edwards has been benched for several games this season, but off the field, he's had a spectacular year -- at least, when it comes to charity. In 2005, when he was a rookie, 23-year-old Edwards promised 100 Cleveland students (who were, at the time, in 8th grade) that he would give them each $10,000 for college if they met academic and community service standards.

In other words, he promised $1 million to the students all together, provided they keep their grades up and make sure to give back with 15 hours of community service.

Out of that 100 students, 79 fulfilled their promise -- with Edwards' help. Throughout their high school years, he stayed involved, even after he left the Cleveland Browns. He paid for laptops, books, and school supplies to make sure the kids had the opportunity to stay on track. He also visited the kids to keep them inspired.

This year, Edwards is keeping up his end of the bargain, and handing out partial scholarships to students heading to Bowling Green State, Kent University, and Johns Hopkins, among other schools -- including Ivy Leagues. "To hear of the Harvards, the Cornells, it didn't surprise me. These kids, they're well-deserving," Edwards says.

Good story but it would've been funny if he pulled a Michael Scott, screwing them out of a scholarship. <_<

This is the funniest night of the entire season. Houston guaranteed Baltimore/Pittsburgh and New England a bye, and Indy virtually guaranteed St. Louis/Minnesota the coveted number 1 pick.

That's assuming the Colts don't beat Jax. Even with Peyton, Jacksonville always seemed to hang tougher than they ever should against the Colts, so it's not exactly a foregone conclusion, no matter how crap the Jags might be.

Rich Eisen and the boys repeatedly alluded to the Colts locking up No. 1 if they finished tied with the Lambs or Viqueens.

This article, obviously written before tonight's game, talks about each team's strength of schedule in case of a three-way tie. The Rams still have the Steelers and 49ers, so it'll be hard for them to pass the Colts for worst SoS. Vikings maybe, but it's iffy.

Can't see why they wouldn't. They're starting a 3rd string rookie QB and have been hampered by injury all year long. If Manning was playing they would have been lucky to be a wild card team.

Houston will open against the Jets, Chargers, Raiders, or Bengals. The first 2 would definitely beat them and I like the Bengals a lot, they're a few parts away from being an elite team. Raiders have a shot too. Either way only New England, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore is coming out of the AFC.

Broncos are likely a one and done as well with Baltimore or Pittsburgh coming to town, anything you can do they will do better.
