Has anyone seen the intro/commentary/cadence video? The cadences are quite cool, but the commentary is terrible. It's jsut so flat and robotic. And that's what they've chosen to first demonstrate this year's product? Mental.

I've been burned too many times to get too worked up, especially about online franchise (can never forgive them for not touching OF AT ALL between '11 and '12), but it's certainly looking like a more significant upgrade at this stage.

Honestly…we’ve thrown in everything but the kitchen sink and while it took a lot of sweat, blood and tears to get here, we’ve done it in one year.

So the online franchise and offline franchise are going to be the same? (ie. contracts, rookie scouting, etc) Or am I reading it wrong? If not, I can't wait.

Also like the Dynamic Scouting Storylines, Don’t Call it a Comeback, and CPU Proposed Trades. I assume Brett Farve returns 30 times until he eventually dies. And I always hated how, no matter what, the CPU NEVER trades ... ever. It all seems a lot more realistic now, can't wait til August.

No Online/Offline Franchise or Superstar mode

Just this new Connected Careers that they are making sound Sports RPG like.

It sounds .... interesting. A bit confusing, but interesting. Sounds like you can play as a specific player or team or whatever in a big online career and switch when you want.

Like the stuff about how a team could fire you and you have to retire if nobody picks you up. It was always weird in Superstar mode how you'd get drafted and be starting over Tony Romo when you've got a 77 rating.

The guy who was on the webcast said he and a team of people didn't work on Madden 12 stuff so they've been working on it since Madden 11, it's been more like 2 years really.

Team Specific Overall Ratings

Every team rates players based on their individual philosophies. Gone are the days of every single team thinking that the same running back is a 90 overall rating across the board. The Saints now prefer smaller receiving backs while the 49ers lean toward backs that can handle the load. This brings a whole new layer of strategy to the Draft, Free Agency, Trades and Scouting. You might think a rookie quarterback is an 80 overall but the Bears may think he’s a 76.

New sub overall ratings

Connected Careers features new overall ratings that take into account physical skills, intangibles, injuries, production (stats) and size. Teams weight these differently, so a team that prefers smart players might not put a lot of emphasis into size.

I doubt this'll happen, but it'd be ace if I wanted to run the Bears as GM, and I draft Maxx to be my superstar gunslinger, or hire DYSI as head coach etc.

Yeah, you can have a bunch of online and offline careers going at once.

We could set up an online connected careers as a bunch of HC's like standard franchise mode, we could also set up a connected career where we all play half back in the AFC and compete for the rushing title. All while you play as rookie Joe Montana in one of your offline games, which you've been playing for 15 years as various players/coaches.

My god this game could be really really good.

Although they're not including fantasy draft or ncaa importing this year with it being a completely overhauled mode.

Oh and on the webcast he meantioned a player you're scouting could tear his ACL at the combine and drop way down in projections, little things like that really make modes like this for me.

So you can't import from NCAA? That's the only reason I was getting NCAA this year..

Yeah, definitely passing on NCAA then. I guess we could have multiple leagues going? One controlling teams, one as players, and maybe a coaching league? I don't know. Multiple people on the same team would be cool, but probably hard to organize.

Seeing where we get drafted could be fun though. Sounds like they updated the whole draft process decently.

Oh dear lord. I was pretty reserved to skipping this year - but I just don't think I can pass up after reading this. That mode just sounds incredibly addicting. I imagine I'll have a regular mode going as the Giants just as always - along with a second mode in which I change up what I do every year.
