Eurovision 2016

So the UK chooses its Eurovision act on Friday and they've released the six songs today. Nothing too offensive, nothing that'll win.

Also, Ukraine's song they picked last night is about the Crimean Tatar deportation/genocide, depending on whose side you're on. So naturally it's creating a dramatic shitstorm today.

I've only listened to a couple of the songs, but the Darline song is reasonable. It shouldn't threaten the leaders, but it's better than most recent British entries.

This is the German song for Sweden. I hoped that Avantasia would be picked but unfortunately they only came third. From the 3 finalists to choose from this is definitely the worst.

Fyi the UK act choosing show will be on BBC Four Friday night, what with BBC Three being moved online.

I liked it and I still do, but Bianca should have won. Joe and Jake have absolutely no personality either. But one of them is kinda hot in a "he'll do" way.

The main issue is that Denmark are already doing our song and doing it better.

We're sending Nicky Byrne. AKA one of the guys that didn't sing in Westlife, son-in-law to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern who fucked the country and current irritating radio/TV presenter.

Song is alright I suppose.

For the UK entry, why is the lad playing a child's guitar?

 

Also, his voice isn't so strong. Also, also, the song never quite hits that real high in a chorus or middle eight that elevates it to a powerful pop song.

So Russia have sent a closet gay, Sweden are in the process of choosing right now and are pretty much guaranteed to win again, Australia have sent an awesome former X Factor winner with a good-ish song and Croatia, who haven't qualified in half a decade, are now fourth favourites. Eurovision 2016 is weird.

The Dami Army(her fan group) don't really understand Eurovision they are talking about how shes going win easy and she doesn't need any gimmicks or fancy staging  the 15,000 crowd and voting public will just fall in love with the pure awesomeness of her voice!

They just don't understand the importance of the right staging/Gimmicks not to mention the politics of the voting.

Last year some of Australia's votes were "hey welcome to the party!" votes, but they're gonna struggle this year with that song and not so many of the political friendship votes.
