  1. You think those women being tortured and imprisoned are suffering? That’s nothing compared to the pain of supporting a team that hasn’t won anything in fifty years and was run by a fat man who vomited in a fireplace.
  2. I look forward to going back to the days when Iceland’s only contribution to football was cancelling a load of matches because one of their volcanoes went off
  3. I'm not a massive rugby fan but it seems like there's enough going on in this world cup to keep me interested, even if much of that is down to Scotland's horror group. Aside from that the person I share my office with is French and a huge rugby fan, so I'll probably watch to humour her if nothing else.
  4. I wonder how Bastien Chalureau feels about playing a team that is All Black
  5. Yeah, Fabrizio Romano is shallow and meaningless, and he demonstrates that by exclusively covering the most shallow and meaningless part of the sport in an uncritical way, usually sponsored by a dodgy crypto company. I'm not sure we should be expecting him to be the change-maker. Even if he did care - which I don't think he does - I would imagine a large part of his job involves maintaining his various contacts and sources. He's not going to risk pissing them off by applying a level of critical insight to anything he does. I mean, this is a guy who won't even dare go beyond a gormless "here we go" to risk pointing out that Chelsea's latest bazillion pound acquisition might be shit. He's certainly not going to get political.
  6. These poor hungry Red Bull employees
  7. The only thing he had to in order to not sell out his "principles" was to choose to remain ridiculously wealthy rather than ridiculously, obscenely wealthy. He's a pathetic, weak little man.
  8. Pfffft at least I know what 2023 + 5 is
  9. That race had some nice elements, but I’ve got to say, as someone that stopped watching F1 in 2013 or so and then started watching again in 2020 when nothing else was happening: I’m starting to remember why I stopped watching in the first place.
  10. This has “guy that Barcelona will sign in five years” written all over it. Remember to check in on this post in five years to prove me right.
  11. Yeah I feel the same. I generally really like the worlds and the setting but I usually don't find th quest system or the gameplay to be that much fun. The last one I sunk a meaningful amount of time into was Skyrim and so much of that was just bloat. What's the point of having a million quests if half of them are "Oh, I'll give you what you want but first you have to do me a favour and go and get my special helmet that I inexplicably left in an underground cave system crawling with monsters'?
  12. Of course he tweets a lot! How else will he meet his targets for getting people to sign up to shady crypto casinos?
  13. I hope they remember to buy some Kleenex for the Paris dressing room.
  14. Thanks for powering that Duelbits.com
  15. I think Newcastle will finish top of that group
  16. I thought he was supposed to be the future? What’s going on here? Did he end up disappointing like that Bojan guy from ten years ago that was going to be the future?
  17. Man Utd are so dumb they couldn’t even get money out of Saudi Arabia for Cristiano Ronaldo
  18. I think the singular for an organisation/group is an American thing, isn’t it? It’s jarring and ugly.
  19. The only sports team I follow is Kilmarnock*. They've been there since 1869 so I don't see them moving anywhere soon, which is just as well because the location is everything from me. I've not lived there since I moved out for uni when I was 17 so the team is one of the very few things I have linking me to the community and the town that I'm from. And you know, with the decline of other aspects of community like trade unions, industrial jobs and the church the football team is just about the last one of these things left. In my lifetime the team has won three trophies (1997 Scottish Cup, 2012 League Cup, 2022 Championship - not bad, all things considered) and I've not seen the sort of scenes or mass gatherings that arose from it in the town on any other occasion (apart from the protests in 2009 when the Johnnie Walker whisky factory (the town's main employer) closed down but that kind of proves my previous point). So yeah, it's entirely about the location for me. I've rambled on a bit and I'm sure a lot of people from post-industrial towns could tell the same story but there you go. * I have a moderate soft spot for Surrey cricket team because I live nearby and go to their games from time to time, but I don't really care all that much. And I like Lewis Hamilton but he isn't a team.
  20. Montiel sounds like it should be the name of a cocktail
  21. maybe I will get this game on PC. I've never tried Fifa where you only play as one player before. In the real world I play on the wing so I've got a vague idea of how that works and where to stand etc but I guess I could probably pick it up and play anywhere I'm needed.
  22. So sad for Jobe Bellingham that Birmingham never retired his shirt number.
