  1. new Calvin Harris is pretty guff so far. Shame. Seems to be the same story as last time - couple of good singles but a rubbish album. Blue may well be the worst song of 2009. If so it will inherit that prestigious title from last year's winner - MGMT's 4th Dimensional Transition. Actually "Limits" almost as bad. And Burns Night is awful awful instrumental. Basically it's all shit except I'm Not Alone, Ready For The Weekend and Dance Wiv Me - the big singles - ; and Worst Day, The Rain and Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La which are merely okay. bah. I wasn't psyched for it or anything but I was expecting it to be better than this. Worst album of the year. Even worse than March of the Zapotec.
  2. http://www.myspace.com/keithsemple Was he retarded?
  3. How long does the offer last? I don't even have £2.50 right now. But I will next month. >_>

    Sequel Songs

yes I suppose Elliott Smith might work here given that he had a series of songs called "No Name". No Name #1-4 were on Roman Candle and No Name #5 was on Either/Or.
  5. I think another possible factor could just be that it's been going for about 20 years or so and there aren't a great deal of TV shows or indeed anything requiring creativity that is able to maintain consistency for such a long period of time. Maybe it's about time they took a few years out or just gave it up altogether and tried something new. Bob Dylan's career is an obvious comparison. He was really strong for his first ten years or so but afterwards just got worse and worse until the 80s when he was releasing a load of rubbish. Then he took a break for five years or so and started releasing good stuff again by the late 90s. Or maybe that was a load of rubbish. >_> Anyway, it was a good article and I'm enjoying reading the discussion about it here. EDIT: I myself haven't watched Simpsons for ageeeeeees except the movie. Which wasn't very good.
  6. Are you talking about Usain Bolt or Caster Semenya?
  7. He has. He got about 2 laughs in the half hour and was the typical "guest who never gets to saying because the usual suspects have way too much material". This series so far has been shit. Absolute dross. Reckon two laughs was generous. In the same basket as all the women for mine. I wouldn't say all the women are bad. I'm perfectly happy when Lauren Laverne is on.
  8. Harry Redknapp is an evil dodgy fraudster! Although he is the only manager I have ever met (Bobby Williamson doesn't count) so I am duty bound to like him.
  9. That was funny. Also really interesting as well despite me never having used photoshop in my life. I think I want to now. >_>
  10. That's pretty awesome. Good for Burnley. I am happy for them.
  11. Yes it is. Yes. He's also the rector of Dundee Uni. Jealous. We've only got Charles Kennedy. :/
  12. I listened to the Royal Scam not too long ago as well. My favourite Steely Dan album is probably Pretzel Logic though, Gold, Easy Tiger and Cardinology are probably quite similar. Cold Roses, Jacksonville City Nights and Heartbreaker are perhaps a bit more country. 29 is mainly ballads. Rock n Roll is rocky as the name suggests and Love Is Hell is kind of a mix of them all.I like everything by Ryan Adams although I'd mostly recommend Love Is Hell, Heartbreaker and Cold Roses in that order if you don't have them yet. I saw him in Edinburgh for my birthday last year. It was amazing. He played for more than three hours.
  13. Pneumonia by Whiskeytown is excellent. I like Stranger's Almanac but I much prefer Pneumonia. My favourite song on it is "Jacksonville Skyline". Two Agsint Nature and Everything Must Go are really good too. They're not really on a par with their 70s albums but still ver enjoyable indeed. I love Because of the Times. It's by far my favourite Kings of Leon album, as well as my probably favourite album of 2007 and one my favourite albums altogether. And all Jimi Hendrix is fantastic as well of course. Little Wing in particular.
  14. The obvious one would be the Jimi Hendrix live at Woodstock album.
  15. I'm actually astounded to be winning this. I'm usually rubbish at these games. 5 on Birmingham to win 5 on Bolton to win 10 on Sunderland v Wigan to be a draw 5 on Man United to win 3-0 Arsenal 1 - 0 Portsmouth
  16. Everything Marina & The Diamonds do is better than everything Muse does. I was shown this - http://pitchfork.com/news/36237-bob-dylan-picked-up-by-cop-in-jersey/ Poor old dear...
  17. Yeah I saw it just there. It was such an easy win as well.
  18. He hid that well under his suit when he was on Mastermind.
  19. There is also Cameroon "star" Jean Jacques Missé-Missé.
  20. I do still have it! It has been my resident toilet book for the best part of ten years. It's amazing. I like the Graham Taylor one best. And the Brazilian player names. DULLO One club star of the seventies and early eighties who subsequently became a television pundit. His nasal drone had the ability to senc viewers to sleep by the millions. I want a sequel.
  21. Best piece of writing ever, by Nick Hancock: What Didn't Happen Next? I love that book. My grampa bought me it when I was like ten or something. haha.
