  1. The Family Stone: 5/10 Some good moments, but the whole did not equal the sum of its parts. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. (2nd viewing): 8/10 Just as fun as the first time. King Kong: 9/10 Kong is back as the King in this heartstopping, jaw-droppping remake of the '33 classic. Peter Jackson seals his reputaion as one of the best directors working today and on of the best fantasy/Action adventure director joining the ranks of Lucas, Spielberg, and Cameron. The Special effects is arguably the best ever seen in any film.
  2. I thought it was a very good film, and if you your a fan of the books(like I was), then its everything you'd expect. Great special effects do add a little something too
  3. With every game the leafs play, the less likely they'll be making the playoffs, especially how great the eastern conference is this season. Right now its looking like a battle between the Devils and the Leafs for that 8th spot in the playoffs. And if Leafs make it to the 8th spot, guess who they'll be facing? Surprise, surprise, Ottawa Senators and this time there's no choking goalie on their side There's always the Flames....even though it wouldn't be the same cheering for them then cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Even though its too early to tell who will make the playoffs, but by basing it on where we are now, the leafs are in trouble.
  4. Brokeback Mountain is slowly going to expand(sort of like Million Dollar Baby), so it will most likely expand in toronto(people have been seeing it as its been breaking records in limited release). As for films like Capote and Good Night and Good Luck, I fear we might have missed them, unless they expand some more. Not worried about Munich or Kong though, they'll be playing everywhere.
  5. I'm surprised they didn't give Munich a Picture Nod, but I see King Kong and Munich still being nominated at the oscars for best picture. I was hoping Naomi to be in the acctress category after all those raves in the reviews, but once again, I think she'll be fine without a Globes nod, and still has a chance at the academy awards. I'm happy fr Match Point and Brokeback Mountain though Here's who I think will take the Globe: (Just the film nominations) Best Motion Picture - Drama Nominees: Brokeback Mountain (2005) The Constant Gardener (2005) Good Night, and Good Luck. 6. Its amazing how better this boards taste in movies are then that of IGN's message board. Please can someone tell me how Sin City deserves to be in the top 10? What film should it replace? King Kong? Munich? BrokeBack Mountain? Anyway, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks this is a good(but not perfect) list of the top films of 2005, and I reccommend you guys to see any one of those films mentioned above.
  7. I hope its a rumour, becuase I had no idea Sony could stoop so low on the stupidity scale.
  8. AFI's Top Ten Films of the Year -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.afi.com/tvevents/afiawards05/default.aspx Brokeback Mountain Capote Crash The 40-Year-Old Virgin Good Night and Good Luck A History of Violence King Kong Munich The Squid and the Whale Syriana Well, what do you guys think? I'm pleasantly surprised that the 4O YOV made it in the list, but it was a great comedy, haven' seen Munich, Kong, or Brokeback Mountain yet, but they are definently on my must-see list.
  9. Chronicals of Narnia:The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe: 8/10 Does justice to C.S. Lewis' Classic novel. Jaw-Dropping 3rd act with amazing special effects which will come 2nd to King Kong.

  11. Watch Harry Potter 4(Duh) and Walk The Line(which isn't on your list). Don't waste your time with crap like Alone in The Dark. As for Murderball and GrizzlyMan, 2 great documentaries based on reviews, you should just rent them when they're out of the cinema.
  12. Showgirls Leprechaun(any of them) Jason X It had to be you (Definently one of the worst movies I've seen, just as bad as showgrils)
  13. Daniel: Hey, what kind of belt do you have? Miyagi: Canvas. JC Penny. Three ninety-eight. You like? [laughs] Daniel: No, I meant... Miyagi: Daniel-san... karate here. [he taps his head] Miyagi: Karate here. [he taps his heart] Miyagi: Karate never here [points to his belt] Miyagi: Understand? RIP Morita
  14. They begin shooting February 2006, with the Summer of 2007 as the target release date Too long a wait.
  15. I guess it was just me. I thought the death of (don't know how to put spoiler tags, but you know who I'm talking about) was portrayed perfectly on screen.
  16. I like Blink 182 and The Killers.
  17. Walk The Line: 8.5/10 If Reese Witherspoon doesn't win best actress come oscar time, something is wrong with the academy. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire: 8/10 Loved everything except the portrayal of Dumbledore
  18. My favourite book= My Favourite Movie(of the series of course) 8/10 Some points deducted because: Dumbledore pissed me off in this film Dumbledore wasn't portryed correctly Where the fuck was Dumbledore I thought I knew in this film? I loved the Yule Ball, the tasks, and I thought they nailed the graveyard scenes. I was a bit surprised by the amount of content that had to be taken away, and at times the pacing was awkwad, but minor complaints aside, with one major complaint, I can't wait for The Order of The Phenoix!!

    Book Thread

I just finished Angels & Demons by Dan Brown(author of the Da Vinci Code, which I have yet to read) and it was a very enjoyable read which completely took me off guard during the ending, I never saw it coming, Jaw definently dropped.
  20. Annie Hall and Manhatten are my favourite Woody Allens films, and both IMO are great films. As for Woody Allen as a director and writer, he's witty, quirky but not for everybody. As for Woody Allen as a person, he's on crack.
  21. Its about time we got Mats back (Y) Hope we kick the Capitals butt! Which isn't hard to do, all you have to do is make sure Ovechkin doesn't get the puck

    Saw 2

I was entertained, it wasn't a great film, but it wasn't bad by any means(except for some of the acting, which I expected). I loved the twist, and since this film was made purely for financial reasons, it is surprising that its any good at all. 7/10
