  1. The New World: 8/10 Absolutely STUNNING Cinematography, with good performance between all actors, but this is a Malick film, so its not for eveyone....especially if your looking for action, you won't find it in this film. It's still a great film.
  2. I do agree on Son of The Mask winning everything, at least you can laugh atctually at the baddness at some of Uwe Boll's films, while it would be almost impossible to break a smile watching Son of The Turd. I'll never let my dad give my brothers a bootlegged family film ever again.
  3. Greater video. Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart and as always I'm awaiting the Revolution just like I was waiting for the Gamecube.
  4. Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy: 7/10 Amusing film with some pretty good visuals.
  5. Knights of The Old Republic 3: Not even an announcement yet, just stupid rumours Mario 128: So many rumours again, and I know they're making it and thats the sad part, I haven't seen nothing yet! And Zero, you bring an excellent point of Chrono Trigger being remade (Y)
  6. Transamerica:6.5/10 Reese still is my favourite performance of the year for walk the line, but Felicity Huffman gives a great performance as the transexual Bree. It's still a typical road trip film.
  7. I'll have no time watching this(but I'll be sure to tune in to the Oscars, no matter how much I have to do), but as long as Reese and Brokeback Mountain come out as big winners, I'll be happy. Oh, and have Narnia win an award or 2
  8. I liked the Zelda: Ocarina of Time intro, and other ones that were mentioned(Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts)
  9. Hilarious Boll interview from 1UP Director Uwe Boll doesn't get much slack. For better or worse, he doesn't seem to care. When 1UP interviewed the German filmmaker, though, he seemed confident videogame fans would find more to like about his adaptation of Majesco and Terminal Reality's vampiric action series BloodRayne starring Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines actress Kristanna Loken. "The first movie I actually really went into the development process was BloodRayne, so I'm curious to see now that I'm almost finished with the movie, to see what the reviews say then or what the people tell me about it then," he said back in August. "I'm quite happy with it, script and everything, and I cannot really say I see a lot of mistakes in that movie right now." So far, the reviews have not been positive (though Boll seems to openly dispute them). BloodRayne opened this weekend against horror director Eli Roth's much hyped Hostel, and though the weekend hasn't finished out, Box Office Mojo reports BloodRayne didn't even crack the top 10 on Friday, bringing in $450,000 and averaging only $457 per theater, while Hostel walked away with the top spot. Though the numbers don't bode well for BloodRayne's box office success, we fired off some questions to Boll this week via e-mail asking about the film, and here, completely unedited, are his thoughts. Stay tuned for an interview with Kristanna Loken on Monday. 1UP: Did Majesco approach you about the project first, or did you play the game and suddenly have a "Eureka!" moment? How's it been working with Majesco vs. Sega and Atari? Uwe Boll: i saw the game and i liked it 1UP: You have also said BloodRayne is the only videogame film you'd want to develop a sequel for. What's so special about the Bloodrayne universe? UB: i like her character and working with kristanna 1UP: Why are you forgoing critic screenings for BloodRayne? UB: we have a premiere where the press can come. piracy is also a problem 1UP: What stood out about the casting of Kristanna Loken? In the latest issue of FHM (an American men's magazine), she's quoted on the cover as saying "I love being naked." C'mon, tell us, that must be it. UB: yes. and she is in the movie naked 1UP: Several times you've mentioned Loken's sexiness as one of her defining traits. Do you consider sexuality an important part of your films? UB: yes - because VAMPIRES movies are sexy 1UP: In another interview, you mentioned sometimes surviving on apples and chocolate on set. What made shooting BloodRayne so difficult? UB: bad crews, bad food - great landscapes 1UP: Rayne is a violence-prone product of rape. How did you help Loken identify with that kind of character? UB: i didnt helped her - i throwed [sic] her in her first scene in a situation where a guy wants to rape 1UP: Though BloodRayne hasn't officially screened for critics, there have been some select showings, one of which prompted a sharply negative review by Ain't It Cool News, a site you previously told 1UP you read. Is that the response you were expecting? UB: no. HARRY and Quint are retards 1UP: How was Ben Kinglsey on the set? Rumor has it he's always wanted to play a vampire. UB: super diciplined [sic]. this is true 1UP: It's understandable Meatloaf had fun working with the prostitutes during filming, but how did you even come up with the idea of casting Meatloaf? How did you track him down? UB: he has LOKENS manager 1UP: Can you talk about how you're splitting up In the Name of the King: Dungeon Siege? Will they act as separate stories ala Lord of the Rings, or more akin to Kill Bill, where you're left hanging? UB: it will be one 2.30 hours theartrical [sic] movie and a 3 hour DVD version 1UP: You've mentioned in other interviews that your next projects are already financed, but how will the recent change in German tax law affect later projects? UB: we will see 1UP: Sum up what we should expect from Postal in one sentence. UB: the biggest desaster [sic] on earth - but not for me - for AMERICA Link I am so confused by this interview. I'm pretty sure Boll has the intellectual intelligence of Rain Man or Forrest Gump. I'd just like to see his meetings w/ his financers: Financers: "Well Uwe, HOTD made $5 million and we didn't even bother collecting the checks for Alone in the Dark. Why would we finance Bloodrayne and Dungeon Siege?" Boll: "Loken is getting naked in Bloodrayne and Bruce Reynolds is signed on for Dungeon Siege" Financers: "Keep up the great work!" *Boll walks out the door, but stops turns around...and says: YOU CAN COUNT ON ME
  10. Land Of The Dead: 6/10 Beatnik, now you know why curiousity killed the cat , but don't worry, I went to see Alone in the Dark(well my friends dragged me into to it, and couldn't have cared less who Uwe Boll was), and well....walked out. Anyway your lucky 2005 still has some great films, as the beginning of 2006 isn't shaping up to be pretty good(but then, it is January).
  11. Capote:7/10 A potential best picture nomination and a best actor oscar, this film is a one man show with Phillip Seymour Hoffman stealing every scene in this haunting portrait of the great writer Truman Capote and his novel, In Cold Blood. Catherine Keneer plays a good subtle performance as Harper Lee, but not as good her loveable performance in the 40 year Old Virgin, the film she should be nominated for.
  12. Closer: 7/10 Natalie Portman= Teh Hawtness
  13. Who Framed Roger Rabbit never gets old for me, and can watch it any time and enjoy it, and another one would be the original star wars episodes.
  14. Did anyone expect more of Dr. Boll? I do feel sorry for the people who actually paid to watch it, especieally when there are a shitload of good to great films playing: King Kong, Narnia, Capote, Munich, Brokeback Mountain, Hostel and so on. But then again, I don't think people who payed to watch Bloodrayne would have liked good films to start with. Yes, I am generalizing, but come on, you can tell just by watching the trailer and tv spots that it was going to be a stinker.
  15. One I clearly remember was at the end of KOTOR 2: Sith Lords, great game, but that ending just pissed me off, and left more questions then answers.
  16. I loved the game, and it's going to be cool seeing Pogge with the Leafs, he put out a great performance.
  17. That sounds like a pretty good choice, and like T.C. Douglas, I'm glad that it isn't old-school Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, or Whoopie Goldberg( )
  18. All E! Online Movie News Taken from: Yahoo! Movies "Sith" Happens at 2005 Box Office Tuesday January 3 8:11 PM ET Hollywood suffered an off year at the box office. George Lucas did not. Lucas' Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith, charting the death of Anakin Skywalker and the birth of Darth Vader, was 2005's top-grossing movie, tapping loyalists for $380.3 million, according to the box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations. The film was the only $300 million-plus grosser in a year in which, Exhibitor Relations said, overall movie attendance fell about 7 percent, and ticket sales dipped about 5 percent. Sith, ostensibly the final chapter in the Skywalker saga, seemed unaffected by the bad box-office vibes. It now stands seventh among the all-time box-office champs, per the stats at BoxOfficeMojo.com. With Sith leading the way, Hollywood made a lot of money ($8.9 billion) and sold a lot of tickets (1.4 billion) in 2005, per Exhibitor Relations. It just didn't make as much money ($9.4 billion) or sell as many tickets (1.5 billion) as it did in 2004. Exacerbating the angina among the executive suite set are stats like these: lowest yearly gross since 2001; lowest attendance since 1997; worst ever opening for a Jim Carrey comedy since Ace Ventura: Pet Detective made him a star. Other factoids from the box office year that was, according to stats from Exhibitor Relations and BoxOfficeMojo.com: The $100 million Fun with Dick and Jane, the offending Carrey comedy, made $64.6 million through New Year's Day weekend, and couldn't crack the top 30. The $200 million King Kong made $175.6 million through New Year's day weekend, and couldn't crack the top 10. It finished 11th, even as two other holiday releases, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ($277.1 million) and The Chronicles of Narnia ($225.7 million), quickly settled into second and fourth place, respectively. The penguin-populated Madagascar (eighth place, $193.1 million) was the top-grossing animated film; the penguin-populated March of the Penguins (24th place, $77.4 million) was the top-grossing documentary. In retrospect, perhaps Martin Short's Jiminy Glick in Lalawood ($36,039) could have used from some penguins. The $130 million-ish Kingdom of Heaven ($47.4 million) and the $120 million-ish The Island ($35.8 million) didn't have penguins, but they did have overseas audiences ($163.6 million and $124.5 million, respectively). Neither penguins, nor international markets, could save the $130 million disaster Stealth ($31.7 million). The $5.5 million Diary of a Mad Black Woman ($50.6 million) made just about every studio production look bad. Chicken Little (14th place, $132.3 million), the top-grossing G-rated film, made about $1.6 million for every bad review counted by RottenTomatoes.com. Narnia was the top-grossing PG-rated film; Sith, the top-grossing PG-13 film; and Wedding Crashers (fifth place, $209.2 million), the top-grossing R-rated film. Among the few, the proud and the barely released NC-17 movies, Inside Deep Throat, a documentary about the porn classic Deep Throat, led the way with some $650,000--about one-tenth of 1 percent of what its source material allegedly generated during its own box-office run. House of Wax ($32.1 million) was the top-grossing Paris Hilton film; Kids in America ($492,078) was the top-grossing Nicole Richie film. The Dukes of Hazzard (23rd place, $80.3 million) was the top-grossing Jessica Simpson film; Undiscovered ($1.1 million) was the top-grossing Ashlee Simpson film. In a hotly contested battle, Herbie: Fully Loaded ($66 million) was the top-grossing Lindsay Lohan film; Cheaper by the Dozen 2 ($55.1 million) was the top-grossing Hilary Duff film. Vexing or no to Empire magazine readers, who voted Tom Cruise 2005's most irritating star, the couch-jumper's War of the Worlds (third place, $234.3 million) was the biggest box-office success of his 25-year career. The comedy Sex Sells: The Making of Touche ($2,386) was Adrian Zmed's biggest box-office success since a 1999 movie you've also never heard of. One Ice Cube movie (Are We There Yet?, $82.3 million--22nd place overall) was worth more than two Charlize Theron movies combined (Aeon Flux, $24.6 million; North Country, $18.2 million). One Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie movie (Mrs. and Mrs. Smith, $186.3 million--ninth place overall) was worth more than two Jennifer Aniston movies, combined (Derailed, $35.7 million; Rumor Has It..., $26.9 million). Saw II (20th place, $86.8 million) was a hit sequel; Son of the Mask ($17 million) wasn't. Rent ($28.9 million) was the top-grossing musical, which was not a compliment. Here's a complete look at 2005's top 10 moneymakers, according to figures compiled by Exhibitor Relations: 1. Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith, $380.3 million 2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, $277.1 million 3. War of the Worlds, $234.3 million 4. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, $225.7 million 5. Wedding Crashers, $209.2 million 6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, $206.5 million 7. Batman Begins, $205.3 million 8. Madagascar, $193.1 million 9. Mr. & Mrs. Smith, $186.3 million 10. Hitch, $177.6 million _________________________________________________________________________ Expect Narnia to pass War of The Worlds and possibly Potter by the end of its run, and expect Kong to move up to the top 5 after its all said and done.
