  1. The best bassist is probably Hookie from New Order, again it's not really metal but the guy plays bass like it's the lead guitar so is great for listening to to try and find ways of making them work for your band.
  2. Right, to cut a long story short I've been asked to put together a compilation of sickening romantic cheey pop songs. The cheesier the better. I'm after cringeworthy tracks like "My Heart Will Go On" the more painful the better!
  3. You never listened to Once? I went myself, fantatic gig and Tarja blew Lanky a kiss so he went home happy Far superior to when I saw them at the Astoria back in February. Although I had gone direct from Rammstein in Paris the previous night so that may seem why the previous gig was lacklustre.
  4. I don't see the point in any form of sharpened studs, especially in football since for over a hundred years regualr old studs have always done the job.
  5. Best sub 3 minute song: There are so many quick tracks I think are great. I guess I'll go with The Offspring - "All I want" one and a half minutes of high paced punk. Best plus 7 minute song: Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score" completely blows me away even now. Best use of guitars in a band: I really don't know there are so many great guitarists out there who compliment the bands so well I couldn't just name one. Best use of drums in a band: Slipknot, I think Joey's a fantastic drummer and it fits the style great. I'm just disapointed there are so many tracks that the music doesn't seem to fit properly. The drumming is always spot on though. Best Lyricist: Morrisey, simply fantastic lyrics almost all the time. Best Vocalist: Tarja Turunen - Nightwish, easy answer, simply incredible voice. Best Dark Band: Rammstein - incest, canibalism, great live show and an olympic swimmer Best Light Band: Bloodhound Gang some simply hilarious songs and videos, great to listen to when I'm feeling down as they always put a smile on my face. Best use of emotion: Alkaline Trio - An odd choice to some but some of their stuff hits me emotionally every time I hear it. Nice guys too (Y)
  6. Yaaar, I love the books and for me they are like a LOTR fanatic where I have to read them every year again. The problem with the Lost World for me was trhat they went way too far from the books with only a couple of bits coming up from the book but yeah the San Diego bit was pointless and I very quickly lost interest after they caught the rex, shoulda saved it for a sequal if they were ever planning on doing one. As for 3, I found it tough to handle since they just seemd to rehash two scenes from the first book and tried to base most of the film around them. It'll always be hard to compare them though since the first was so amazing anyway. Oh and Lex & Tim were better then any of the other kids by a long way...
  7. Ahhh, the aggravating fans who think they are above others for supporting a lower division team.... :pinch:
  8. I could start on one of these rants about the little teams in the league, but from the way both teams played tonight - a win for either would have been deserved. I am absolutely ecstatic though unsurprisingly. Grimsby haven't won such a big game since they beat Liverpool in 2001.
  9. Reel Big Fish last night in Cambridge, they were better then I expected actually and well worth seeing again. Cambridge is such an easy to please crowd I won't be surprised to see them again nxt UK tour.
  10. Was going to go to that then realised it clashed with a rare "Me first and the gimme gimme's" sighting I had tickets for, then me first cancelled
  11. Do you think Jol will ever realise it's useful to have a midfield? Again they were shit last night. Tainio tried hard but isn't a winger and Reid did alright but the middle pair were appauling. Just go 4-3-3 with Rasiak, Keane and Defoe up front and play without wingers in the midfield, it doesn't look like he wants to use them anyway.
  12. My last gig was Alkaline Trio at the Astoria last month, top quality show and will definatly see them again. Monday I'm supposed to be seeing Reel Big Fish in Cambridge which should be interesting and then Sunday Nightwish at the Hammersmith Apollo. Hoping it'll be a good week.
  13. Considering what the FA/FIFA/UEFA have been trying to clamp down on, the red was deserved. Fair enough, he went for the ball, but he also managed to stick his foot 5 feet above the ground and kick someone in the head and shoulder. Most of the other red cards this year have been dished out for reckless and dangerous challenges, and Van Persie's was both. ←
  14. I'vew just looked through my "soundtracks" set of disks and here's what I've found. Jurassic Park Schindlers List Indiana Jones - Raiders LOTR trilogy Bugsy Malone The Lion King (West End version - contains a couple of new songs and ones from the sequal (Y) ) These are the ones I've actually bothered to buy, there are problably loads more I can think of if I actually sat down and listened to some.
  15. My biggest problem with Activision is their "two patch rule" Yeah I don't think a game should be released if it's bug ridden but it also puts a bit of restriction on the developer. Look at the problems with Rome Total War to see what I mean. Multiplayer was screwed over internest connections so they fixed that within a week of release. They work on a patch to fix some annoying bugs and it creates more. Activisions response is "sorry, you've had your patches, like it or lump it".
  16. Well the reason it's been delayed so much is that they've carried out a complete reworking of the game to try and make it a lot easier to make a decent movie and try and get a good blend of "Sims" type character building and movie making. Aparently it was basically The Sims with everyone in the showbiz career before a drastic rehash of the system.
  17. I'm actually of the opinion Gerrard seemed a different class out there. He wasn't as big an influence over the game as I was expecting before hand but every time the two of them went for a 50-50 it was obvious who'd come out with the ball, I'll give you hint, he's a scouser...
  18. Decent performance against the scousers yesterday we had some good chances and could've won it but same could be said for them. Negatives from the game, Carrick had a complete shocker and seemed to be a waste of space and Jol trying to take all the new signings into account and leaving the Korean on his own on the left. He did well but we could do with a little support for him...
  19. Yeah I remember thast you could offer bungs and attempt to rig nmatches and stuff. Personal highlight'll be offering Arsenal a bribe to let Stevenage through in the FA Cup 3rd round. That was the problem the chance to start with £20 million in the conference didn't really offer much of a challenge...
  20. Packers to win every game by miles including the Superbowl... I can dream can't I?
