Yeah, basically everyone in that show was fucking awful -- including the director, since he continually misgendered and deadnamed Saff (the one who, uh, to avoid going to spoiler tags lets just say you'd remember his story from the start of ep 2). Definitely couldn't look away though, finished it today. I've also been watching a looooot of documentaries about cults lately so basically the whole time my alarms were going off for Doc Antle. But yeah, Carole definitely did it. And James and Jeff totally set up Joe (though fuck Joe for a litany of other reasons lol).

The new Waxahatchee (fmr P.S. Eliot) is pretty good! I still prefer the sound of her earlier work but this is a nice, chill, folksy album that is very welcome at the moment.

Lol honestly I thought that one was just okay compared to WNUF, but it also is a gorier kind of horror than I usually care for (though admittedly I haven't watched it since it came out in like 2014) Its nice to see a baltimore indie film not made by john waters known by someone outside baltimore though!

Nice! Have you checked out any of the director's other work? A friend of mine has done some art work for at least one of this other movies (The Call Girl of Cthulu) which is how I found out that the sequel is shooting soon.

Fucking finally saw Parasite this weekend. That right there was a good movie.

does parasite have any jump scares? it's finally come to this shitty town -- I'll be seeing it regardless but my girlfriend hates jump scares and isn't all that into horror/thrillers.

I also think Rico Nasty is fun and I haven't heard much from YBN Cordae but its been alright. Some of the people in the cyphers were just laughably bad though. Lil Mosey manages to be absolutely awful while calling the beat trash, and YK Osiris just isn't my jam at all (and I've listened to this like ten times and still can't figure out what's going on at 2:10ish) but he at least makes up for it in the video because watching him watch DaBaby is great. Also the new Lil Wayne has a couple good songs but overall I don't think I'm going to be listening to it that much, it definitely doesn't reach the highs of Carter V.

The new Lindsay Ellis is a great look at Orientalism, how bullshit it was, and the effects it had on art and the world at large, with a focus on The Persian from Phantom of the Opera.

Yeah, I went back and forth before I posted about whether or not that was, like, the whole point or not. With "This Land is Your Land" in particular, at least in my case, that was a song that I learned in elementary school without learning who wrote it and I went probably a good 10-15 years between hearing the song for the first time and hearing my second Woody Guthrie song. But, like, at the same time, if someone asked me to show them a Woody Guthrie song it would be pretty far down my list. Regardless, love the thread!

Absolutely no idea, I think I listened to the Black Parade once and I looooved their first two albums but beyond that I don't think I listened to any of it.

Some decent fancams of the My Chemical Romance reunion show are floating around YouTube, looks like a super fun show!! Hopefully they play somewhere around me if they tour because I don't wanna have to see them at like a festival or something.

Season five is sooooooo good and definitely making my list and more people should watch it because I tried to get my girlfriend to and she quit after like three episodes of season 4.
