  1. Out of the two it's the Eccy theme for me. I prefer the traditional mixed with comtemporay feel. Tenny's theme feels like that without breaking out at all.
  2. So, that was pretty much excellent, and the ending, while somewhat predictable was still epic. And the Sontaran had some great lines I assume eye-patch woman is the big bad for the second half of the series though, because otherwise that was a bit of a lame duck way of bringing her story to an end. Also: Also, loved the references to the darker side of the Doctor.... the people that have died for him, the line about thinking that he should sometimes give in, speculating on what the word Doctor might come to mean... Fucking loved that shit. Oh, and Let's Kill Hitler... Brilliant title
  3. Hey, I had Daniel Agger get spinal damage on International duty damnit! Liverpool ins and outs ahead of 2011/12. Only two major fees paid for inbound players really, it's just that one took up the majority of the budget.
  4. I have one more episode left of Terror of the Autons and unless the finale is a dud - something that I really can't see happening - then I'll heartily endorse it's recommendations on here. There's some nice 70's family TV cheese (the hypnosis, the shrinking weapon), but the script by Robert Holmes (Spearhesd from Space, Deadly Assassin, Weng-Chiang, Androzaani) is very good; witty and perfectly paced with no wasted moments. Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado are superb and Nicholas Courney is good value as ever. It's also got numerous 'first appearances.' First time we see The Master (only criticism so far is his motivations aren't expalained. He's just turns up and the Doctor is like, 'MY NEMESIS!' and that's it), the first time we see Mike Yates and the first appearance of Jo Grant (The Doctor's reaction on meeting her for the first time is simply priceless). Finally, like Spearhead from Space, there are a few bits which you can see being genuinely terrifying to a child in the 1970's. Quality stuff.
  5. The announcement of 'true injuries,' is weird. Are thety actually going to go and injure the player in real life? No? Then it's not a true injury. And the more I think about it, the more £55 seems like a complete fucking joke. Here's hoping Tesco, Sainsburys and ASDA do their usual release day price-war. Or, a large enough chunk of people fuck EA off and buy PES; though I can't see that having much of an effect, the usual crowd will buy FIFA anyway.
  6. Store worked for me this morning. Downloading Wipeout, but I'm not sure what other free game I want. Played Infamous before and wasn't too fussed, so it might be Little Big Planet or that Zombie game... not heard owt about it before mind. Also Downloading Streets of Rage II and a couple of demos.
  7. I don't see this as a bad thing at all. Maybe I would if I were particularly invested in the DC Universe, but I'm not. I'll actually be picking up several of the #1's (based on exactly what the new series are) and when they start to come out I won't have brought a comic in just under two years (moved out so I had less free cash and got hugely bored with Marvel whom I read FAR more than DC and others) I surely can't be alone in the world in this, I must represent a larger demographic of people who will come back to comics with this and who might stick around if the stories and the writing are good. It's also a perfect start for people to jump into Superman, Batman, Wonder-Woman etc without having to deal with the muddy waters of decades of continuity. Of course, if in a few months they just run an event that sets everything back, I'll be pissed.
  8. VERY early news so far, but Konami have said that they want to improve: - Defense system - Movements with ball - Passing, dribbling and attacking - Physicality Watching the video, it all sounds like positive steps, but we've heard a lot of this before and the improvements have failed to materialise. Hopefully though this is the year PES gets its mojo back. I'm actually quite excited for the potential in this years PES and FIFA games. Hope it's not misplaced.
  9. I was checking out the announced details for FIFA and PES. Neither series has had a killer game for a few years now, but both seem to be taking steps in the right direction. Of course, we'll see how this actually turns out as to wether this is all hype or actual gameplay improvements. Though the new price can go to hell. I'd only be interested in getting it for the £25-30 release day price like Baddar, or for a little more if I decide to get this and NOT PES at all this year.
  10. I signed in, it froze when I tried to get the Welcome back pack and now the PSN Store shits itself and errors whenever I try and sign back in. Good work Sony, good work.
  11. How much did you pay for Alaba? I've been interested in signing him for Liverpool after he was amazing for me in a Bayern game I had going. And that's an awesome squad. Pre-Season for me at Liverpool. My only major signing so far actually counts as a signing from last season as I had the deal agreed in January and the transfer went through on June 1st so I still have all of my summer transer budget. That signing was £5.75M for Douglas, a Brazilian centre-half with great stats and a glowing scouting report. Also, I have Emiliano Insua and Alberto Aquiliani back from loans, which is like having two new signings. Though now I have a problem with having too many players over 25. Fabio Aurelio may have to be moved on due to rules rather than me not wanting him. After selling someone, I realised I only had 7 home-grown players and you need 8. Luckily, Insua counts as homegrown, so I'll keep him, and I'll need Konchesky to count towards the same number of HG players, leaving Aurelio as the odd left-back out. I'm trying to get Suarez, being as I'm Liverpool and all, though I only tend to play with one striker and that's Torres. At home against weaker teams I'll drop a midfielder and play an extra striker. I have Torres, Chendu Obasi and Jefferson Montero (a winger who can play up front) as strikers so far, and Danny Pacheco just started to score goals at the back end of the last campaign. I also landed a free transfer, a young striker caller Borja, who had a £27M release clause in his contract at Valencia and signing him caused Pepe Reina to need a change of under-wear. I've also signed Affelay on a free, and a young Paraguay striker for £350,000. No work-permit, so off to Belgium with him for three years. Great looking stats. Beyond that, not sure who to sign. My first 11 is pretty tight with a good quality of back-up. It'd have to be a REALLY worthwhile signing.
  12. ^^^ Yeah, I don't see why being able to break up moves fucks up or ruins multi-man matches in anyway. It's kinda the whole point, really... And as OctoberRaven points out DoR's multi-man matches were chaotic and a hell of a lot of fun. The only draw-back there was that guys stayed down too long after being hit with a punch/kick to break up a move. If they don't have that problem with WWE 12 then this is great stuff; and might actually STOP a Smackdown game being predictable as fuck for once.
  13. Go! Get out! You've taken a Rugby towns' football side as far as you can. Surprised you turned down Arsenal AND Chelsea for them already. And fuck Arsenal. Got to within a point of Man Utd, and began having dreams of a proper shoot-out for that 20th league title. Then Arsenal batter us 3-0, at home at that. Though, we were frankly awful and could have lost by 6. I've gotten back to within a point of United again, but I only have one game left, away to Chelsea, AND United have a game in hand. Next up is the cup final. We've done the double over Spurs in the league this season, so I'm expecting the inevitable Spurs win >_>
  14. Exactly, same here. I fear failing symmetry. I was eight points behind Man Utd, not seven, but I just beat them 2-1 to make me five points behind with five games left. Spurs beat Arsenal on the same day, so I have a five point cushion over them too. Though I still have the games against Arsenal and Chelsea to go, and barely any full-fit players for an away trip to Sunderland. Avram Grant seems to hate me for some reason, but DiMatteo loves me. If the game allowed it I think he'd invite me out for some pasta and a few shots.
  15. Fuck yeah, made the FA Cup Final against Tottenham! I always seem to do badly in the cups on FM games so I'm well chuffed with that. In the league i'm somehow second with seven games to go. I'm seven points behind Man Utd, two in front of Arsenal, seven in front of Chelsea and eight in front of Spurs. Though I do have to play Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea before the end of the season, and we only took one point from the three games earlier on in the season, so I don't expect to stay second. But I don't care, even third is well above expectation and I made the FA Cup final! I might wear a suit...
  16. Thank-you, thank-you, I aim to please. FUCK the game for arranging an FA Cup replay on the same day as an International match just because England aren't playing. I'm still without Reina, Vertonghen, Hazard, Babel and Torres; meaning due to injuries as well my only fit striker is a young Ecuadorian I signed on the cheap and is my 4th/5th choice. Worse still, I'm having to play Brad Jones
  17. And a good run of results, including hammering Spurs 4-1 comes to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle; who had 'remember him,' blast-from-the-past, Subbuteo Squads and Pannini sticker collections star striker Steffan Iversen up front. It's good to be back.
  18. Withdrawal symptoms from the football season (yes, already) have promoted me to load FM11 for the first time since January; hopefully to stop me buying FIFA. I've loaded up a Liverpool game I have, obviously still with Torres, and I'm going to give that a blast now. It's in January and I appear to have signed Jan Vertongen, Eden Hazard and Chendu Obasi; and have Affelay coming on a free in the summer. Might have a cheeky pop for Suarez if I have the funds. Anyway, gonna see how I do. I got the old feeling of loading up a save game long since played and panicking when I remembered I haven't a clue what my usual XI was and who was on/off form.
  19. Spearhead from Space, The Silurians (both Pertwee), City of Death, Talons of Weng Chiang (both Tom Baker) and Caves of Androzaani (Davidson) are the ones I would HIGHLY recommend. Then there are plenty of very good ones I can throw a mention at if those are to your taste. Weng Chiang in particular, is essential.
  20. I barely have any because I never wear them any more although I did all the time as a kid, so the ones I do have are quite old. AC Milan from the early nineties (around '92/93) brought for a tenner in a sale in a sports shop about a year after the kit would have been out of date. I was a kid then and the shirt was too big, but the last time I wore it it fit perfectly. A Man Utd home shirt from 1998 with 'Solskjaer 20' on the back. A Man Utd Champions League shirt from that kinda time period, from the season when they had a shirt just for the Champions League A sexy Black Man Utd Away shirt from 1999 ish. A Sheffield United home shirt from 2002/2003 season. I did have an England shirt from the 1998 World Cup but I'm nore sure if I still have that or not. And that would be all, as I said, never wear 'em, though I was tempted with a Bayern shirt last year.
  21. The last episode was complete tosh; with only the last 90 seconds and the odd reference to past Doctors being good at all. It's a shame, because the deformed doom-like monster at the end could have made for quite a good horror episode. And Sheep; we literaly discussed that last on page 25. General consensus seems to be start with Season 6; which is where the current combination of Steven Moffat as Executive Producer, Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan/Arthur Darvill as companions starts. If you like, go back further in 'New Who,' starting with Season Two which is the start of David Tennant as the Doctor. His run contains no small amount of things which get referenced (or play an active part) in the Matt Smith stuff. Plus, there's a lot of brilliant episodes and Tenny Then Season One of New Who isn't entirely without merit. And then random classics; there's very rarely a need to watch any Classic's in a particular order. We can recommend stuff if and when you get to that point.
  22. With regards the Quarter Moon Murders... It was by no means off putting for me; I just felt it ever so slightly grating that an action sequence had to be shoe-horned into every clue; and I'm not a fan of games that base themselves around similar action sequences. EDIT - Spoiler tag fail.
  23. Just did Quarter Moon Murders, which aside from the odd bit of false drama (zOMG the wooden platform is wobbling~!!!) was an excellent case with a very good ending to the Homicide arc. Though I'd totally forgotten all the victims names, so the specific links to indivdual cases were lost on be somewhat (I can't remember which victim Evelynn Summers was, for instance)
  24. My interrogations are increasingly irratic. I'm either some hybrid clone of Michael Parkinson, Loius Theroux and Jack Bauer; masterfully getting people to spill their deepest and darkest secrets within seconds of being introduced to them; or I can't even get them to tell me what they had for breakfast. Though I'm suspiciously thinking that the (very) odd interrogation is set up to be a complete bitch to do well on.
  25. I've seen two of those; Zatoishi, which I enjoyed but failed to see quite what all the fuss was about; and The Proposition which is superb. I'd give my thoughts on it, but Hammy summed it up precisely. Also, my Mum got a free copy of Croupier with a newspaper years ago in one of those flimsy cardboard packets and neither of us have ever bothered to watch it. Maybe I should.
