  1. I can't believe that I forgot Liam Neeson when I made my list. Shame on me. Also, Clint
  2. I read about that the other day and forgot to post it in here. I don't care how trashy it may or may not be, The Doctor/Picard teaming up? I'm sold.
  3. If I had to pinpoint the exact moment I realised I was playing through the developer's own personal interpretation of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country; it'd be the moment when I was framed for murder, for political reasons, and thrown into a prison mine. Glorious. Anyway, it never ceases to amaze my just how many stories I keep getting invested in. I've been starting a new character for a while now, but I keep wanting to finish one particular quest or visit a certain place with my first character, and I just keep getting drawn in to more and more.
  4. The developers recently released a list of things their consiering including in the DLC packs. They didn't say what the quests or the theme of the DLC packs might be; it was more a list of add-ins they were considering such as being able to adopt children, and new kinds of monsters to kill. I'll try and find it. I've had nor problems with the patch, but touch-wood, I haven't had any technical problems with the game anyway. EDIT: Here the list is. Apparently these are things mentioned by Bethesda Creative Director Todd Howard as ideas they were playing around with to include with the DLC: Today at DICE 2012, Todd Howard, creative director as Bethesda announced a couple of ideas they're been playing around with (or as he called them "experiments"). The list of stuff mentioned includes: Spears Kill cams for magic Water arrows Giant mud crabs Paralysis runes Seasonal foliage Speedy water currents Dark dungeons Adoption of children Advanced home building Epic new mounts Fast travel portals Kinect dragon shouts Enhanced water visuals Ice and fire arrows Lycanthrope perk tree Vampire imp minions Goblins Personally, a Lycanthrope perk tree could be very useful, and a few other things such as adopting children and the advanced home building add a nice touch of personalisation to the game but there isn't much there that sounds particularly 'killer.' Of course, we don't know what the storyline or quests for the DLC packs are and their the main focus.
  5. Well that game marked the end of my first full season as an NFL fan (the first game I ever watched being last years Superbowl), and it was one of the best games I've seen yet. Both teams were strong; and Eli is so cool under pressure it's actually scary. I think I also had a series of minor heart-attacks during the final hail-mary at the end and the resulting scramble. Now to try and remember what I used to do on Sunday nights before the NFL came along. Six months is a looong time to wait.
  6. Doria Gray is an incredible book with articulate dialogue and fantastic descriptions...all except the 20 page chapter in the middle which discusses in tedious length the several years Dorian spends collecting some nice fabric and looking at art. That bit is dull as sin.
  7. So, has anyone else found that the new server upgrades have made it HARDER to get into Community Creations?
  8. This is a system I shall be taking advantge of from now onwards.
  9. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. My computer crashed as my Bayern game was saving and I can't load it again 25 plus hours and an hithero unbeaten season down the drain. Mega frustrating, but I suppose that if this doesn't teach me to back-up my video game saves then nothing else will. That and I might find the time to start a game with a lower-league team now.
  10. Not happy with this cos I KNOW I'm missing some obvious people. Men (have blatantly translated 'top' as 'favourite.') 1. Clint Eastwood 2. Patrick Stewart 3. Alan Rickman 4. Alan Alda 5. David Tennant 6. Nathan Fillion 7. Matt Smith 8. James Marsden 9. Robert Downey Jr. 10. Martin Sheen (I'm sorry Gary Oldman) Women 1. Natalie Portman 2. Noomi Rapace 3. Scarlett Johansson 4. Helen Mirren 5. Amy Adams Dead 1. James Stewart 2. Henry Fonda 3. Lee Van Cleef 4. Bela Lugosi 5. Vincent Price
  11. Just played it. I'll not be rushing out to but it, though I might pick it up cheap. It does remind of Fable (and I love Fable 2), but without the charm. It does have elements of Dragon Age, which is nice; but I'm just not sure how much I'd play it when, well, I could be on Skyrim instead! The world and the lore do feel a little 'generic fantasy' too. But the gameplay was fine and there's some nice options to mess around with, and if the story-telling in the quests is good then I could get into it.
  12. Football Manager (or Championship Manager back in the day) is the series I've spent by far the most time on. I sent lots of time on the earlier Pro Evolution Soccer games, but not so much over the last four or five years. As for single games, FIFA 98 took up HOURS. I played it most nights after school, and would play through whole seasons in a weekend...most weekends. Smackdown 2 must be the only game to rival it in tersm of hours played. It was the same story with that, played it for hours after school each day.
  13. I don't have anyone on extra high training. I'm usually pretty lazy with training in FM games and just leave the defaults as they are. The injuries seem to be coming in bursts based on position - at the start of the season I had five defensive injuries (both in match and in training) inside the first three games. Now, Robben, Ribery and Muller seem to be rotating round which one of them has to be substituted this week. I'll check what my match preperation has been set to; and I've already started making substitutions earlier in games. I was also going to ask about team talks and getting players motivated. I'm generally calm and say that we are favourites, or we should win for the fans or something similar; I go assertive if we're playing badly at half time and say somehting along the lines of, 'Where's the passion/I know you can play better etc), and if a player has had a dip in form I tell him that I have faith. How do others handle it? I never seem to anger anyone and hardly ever make players switch off, but no-one seems to be fired up either.
  14. The injuries keep mounting up. Seriously, WTF? My training workload is only medium. Am I just being unlucky? Or am I doing something else obviously wrong?
  15. Restarted my Bayern game. Generally not going as well this time; The previously prolific Gomez and loan signing Daniel Sturridge aren't scoring at all this time around and more worryingly I'm picking up insane levels of injuries during games. At least once per match, I had three injuries in one half in one game.
  16. I think that he genuinely loves Michael and Lindsay, and assuimg that doing something for them won't ENTIRELY fuck himself over then he will do what he can for them. Probably the same with George-Michael too. I don't believe sure he feels exactly the same way about GOB and Buster, but he isn't going to manipulate them for the hell of it either.
  17. Fine by me, boss How many different games do people like to have on the go at once? I have the Bayern game, but I'm aready thinking of 2/3 other games I'd like to play (like a game as a lower-league English team for one). I guess it's balacing actually having the time to play and get into each save Vs. ever getting each game you'd like to play started at all.
  18. After four hours with the game I can safely say that I suck at team talks now. I'm sure I'll get used to them. Probably after I've alienated the entire first team squad. I was also a douche and forgot to delete the file with the fake German International side names until after I'd already started as manager of Bayern. It shouldn't annoy me half as much as it does. Still, I suppose I can look on the positive that none of my homegrown players will ever get injured or fatigued while playing for Germany.
  19. This is one of my all-time favourite comedy series, and it gets FAR better than 'Pilot,' although there are some good lines to be found ("Illusions, Michael. A Trick is what a whore does for money.") 'Top Banana' is closer to the quality of the first season as a whole. It helps that the series becomes increasingly self-referential, making references to and jokes about things that happened numerous episodes ago; or by making the same gag each show for a few weeks - in a Sideshow Bob stepping on the rakes way these gsgs are funny, then not-funny and then become funny again BECAUSE of the repetition. Of course, you can't possibly know all this after just two episodes. If people stick with the whole series (or at least the first season) it may help to watch the early episodes again afterwards. Not only might you find things to laugh at that you missed the first time around, you're also much more likely to pick up on the initial reference to something they're still going to be joking about 10 episodes from now and it'll have gone completely over your head the first time around.
  20. The game of course arrived when I'm at my parents and won't get home to play it until about 9PM tomorrow. I can sense it now, mocking me. Wrapped in it's cellophane, smugly taunting me from afar. Think I've decided on Bayern as a game to ease me into it, then I'll be looking for a lower-league English team to manage.
  21. I'm currently 150 odd pages into Lord of the Rings (one of the books that knowing my tastes I really should have read years before) and am going through differing phases of appreciating bits of the writing and the world building, and then thinking "GET. ON. WITH IT. TOLKIEN." I've not read any of it in aboput 5 days, which could signal trouble. I'm also 70 odd pages in to Jonathan Wilson's biography of Brian Clough, 'Nobody Ever Says Thank-You.' Now, I've know Wilson to be an intelligent and rather excellent football writer and this is mostly the case here. But. As the first ever 'proper' biography of Clough (all the other books on him have either been one person's account of his experiences, or have just focused on one aspect of Clough's career) Wilson seems to feel the need to discuss EVERYTHING Clough ever did, said, ate, drank, brought or shit out. I don't really care what the local newspaper reporter said in his match report when Middlesborough drew 1-1 with Bury in 1957 or whatever. I suppose the level of detail is nice, but not SO often and not about things that are ultimately so inconsiquential. And finally, I just picked up (literally) a copy of Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles. So in short, I've made the mistake of starting LOTS at once. Got plenty more books for Christmas too.
  22. Postal service permitting, I should get the game today. I've narrowed my first game down to: - Arsenal (for the typical 'big' team game) - Bayern Munich (as above, and I love my some Bayern) - Anzhi Makalalkakakakakaka (for the potential to build a big club, hopefully) - Mansfield Town (for the Blue Square to Prem. challenge; and I went to a Mansfield match once. Ten years ago.) - GB Olympic team (that's on, right?) for the novelty of it. Yes, I do use the term 'narrowed down' loosely.
  23. Some great ones mentioned so far. The lastest adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy: Gary Oldman Colin Firth Tom Hardy Benedict Cumberbatch Mark Strong Toby Jones Ciaran Hinds Stephen Graham John Hurt Kathy Burke And Trigger from Only Fools and Horses! Pulp Fiction (an obvious one) Bruce Willis Samuel L. Jackson, Motherfucker John Travolta Uma Thurman Harvey Keitel Tim Roth Christopher Walken Ving Rhames
  24. Urgh. Trying to do Glory of the Dead for The Companions and have to go to Ygramor's Tomb. Fine, I'll follow my companion friends across the map being as I have nowhere close to fast-travel to, and who knows what fun we might get into on the way. Only, my 3 friends in The Companions have got 2/3rds of the way there and now seem intent on running up one particular hill...and back down it again. And then up. And then down. Again. And again. I could go on, but the way ahead seems to involve fighting a metric fucktonne of Snowy Sabre Cats, and my character seems to haemorrhage at the sight of them. So, I'm going to bugger off and do something entirely different for a bit, and hope that this somehow doesn't fuck the quest up at all. #Grumble.
