  1. More positive updates. If the demo persuades me to buy the game, I'm SO creating my own comic-book universe. But then; who isn't going to do that? Looking forward to the inevitable Marvel/DC mods as well as blasting the default data some.
  2. I had time for one match, as United came from behind to beat Porto 2-1. Thoughts: - Liking the more agressive AI. Last year they passed it aimlessly around the back four and midfield a bit, they always seem to want to attack now. - The X Tackle button is now entirely useless, which sucks. Last year holding down square to close down and pressing X to tackle worked quite well. Not at all on this, though in respect of the closing down I suppose the CPU moves the ball around quicker anyway. But, the X tackle now sucks, and... - Circle tackle is even more erratic. - The super-sprint button barely seems different to the normal sprint button, and it's harder to take people on. - Defenders close you down quicker, which is mainly a great thing, but it is a little too good at times. Though, I was playing Porto; it might not be an issue against a team like Blackburn >_> - I'm finding it much harder to ping the ball about passing wise. Not sure how I feel about that. - Some of the new animations look nice. But, the main thing to say about this: - FULL-BACKS MAKE OVERLAPPING RUNS.  FINALLY I then remembered that last year I set the game speed to -1; and began a match with that setting. Un;like last year where it made for a realistic pace, this year it seemed SLOOOOOOWWWWW. Didn't have time to finish a match on that setting though. Will probably have chance to play in small doses over the next few days and willl try it out more and post with thoughts. Initial thoughts are I'll stick with 11 unless 12 is cheap (though there is still a lot of chance for the demo to grab me more yet.)
  3. There's a demo up on the PSN. Was NOT expecting it that soon. Though it does say (DEMO 1) after the title and makes a point of mentioning how it's an 'early' look; so I'm guessing it's a demo of an early build and that they'll be a fuller demo up later. Probably won't get much of a chance to play it until next week, but I might get a quick blast out tomorrow afternoon.
  4. I've not found Data yet And annoyingly I've seen loads of robots from Futurama, and can remember the names of none of them.
  5. The Smith stuff so far hasn't had much at all in the way of recurring characters from previous eras. River Song, basically. And a couple of the alien monsters have been from classic Who. Comparing the three 'New Who' Doctors, Tennant is still my doctor, though Matt Smith is pushing him so bloody close and could over-take him, he just gets better and better and better with each episode. Ecclestone is in my top 11 doctors of all time. And onto the topic of what Classic Who to watch, it keeps being discussed every few pages or so, so have a trawl through the thread. Talons of Weng Chiang is essential, as is Caves of Androzaani. I'd also recommend Spearhead from Space, Terror of the Autons and City of Death. Like those and I could name 10-15 other good ones that you might enjoy. EDIT - When you say you skipped some of the episodes which didn't feature the Doctor heavily - you DID watch Blink, right? RIGHT?
  6. Much like Pesci there was a point where Pulp Fiction was my favourite film and I could quote huge chunks of it wholesale. I still love it, and it oozes cool, but I wouldn't call it my favourite film anymore. Possibly. I love Reservoir Dogs as well, but I feel like he hasn't matched either of those in his later efforts. Jackie Brown is good but not spectacular and I wasn't a big fan of the Kill Bill films. Death Proof is okay. Inglorious is a step back in the right direction - as Hammy says the bar scene is first class and there are other very good bits but on the whole it's a notch below Fiction/Dogs. In places it's Christoph Waltz being fantastic in scenes that aren't. So I gave him an 8.
  7. Money. Everton don't have any, and Leicester can give Beckford a lot. But on the face of it, your right. Doesn't make a world of sense for any party other than Leicester.
  8. I try and do bits. At home we have a weights bench and an exercise bike. I don't have any set exercise regieme as I pretty much just exercise as and when I'm free and feel like it, but it tends to be 3-4 times a week. I rotate between weights on various body parts - not muscle building, just to keep in shape and at best like I'm toned - and cardio on the bike. I wouldn't mind looking a bit 'bigger' muscle wise, but I don't seem to ever find a suitable system for building muscle. Though I admit to not eating overly healthily - I eat a fair bit of fruit and veg but a lot of crap too - and there are some body parts I HATE exercising (shoulders for instance) and hardly ever do them. Basically, I range from looking like I look after myself but not brilliantly so to looking like I looked after myself until fairly recently and then let myself go >_>
  9. I felt slightly sorry for Swansea - and for Vorm inparticular - they always looked to move the ball around and play a bit which is refreshing to see from a newly promoted side away from home against title challengers, but City were superb. Silva was incredible and that Aguero chap looks a little useful doesn't he? Of course, this is City and next Sunday they could play like 11 people who've never so much as met each other before; yet I doubt that a hell of a lot more than I would have last season.
  10. I'm trying to get to grips with this despite not having a fucking clue about American football. Needless to say I'm getting beaten on the easiest setting. Defensively I'm okay (for the difficulty level that is) but I haven't had a single pass completed yet in 1 1/2 games - I REALLY suck on offence. And yet, it's quite fun, it looks great and I'm impressed with the presentation. If I can get to grips with the actual game, I might look into getting this.
  11. Agricola looks like someone who couldn't afford a console wanted to play Harvest Moon. EDIT - Just read the Civilization entry >_> EDIT 2 - Only just realised there's more than once page. I feel somewhat silly. Still. some of the games on here look coo; this coming from a man who has played Risk about three times ever, the odd game of Monopoly and Cluedo once.
  12. It's okay, that'll be a BRAND NEW FEATURE IN WWE 13!!!! *When a joke is old, re-use it until it's funny again. It's the EWB way.* Overall, colour me...whelmed... for this; but I say that every year and end up buying it anyway. I'm resigned to it. If they iron out the bugs in Universe mode I'm sure I'll get more play out of it than I did last years for starters.
  13. More updates. Number seven, in particular looks very interesting...
  14. I'm reading A Game of Thrones. It'll take me fucking AGES to read, but it's not feeling like a slog at all so far; I'm really enjoying it, the writing is so effortless and having chapters done from a particular characters POV helps you get into individual characters a lot; and also leads for generally shorter, snappier chapters - which also means you end up thinking 'Go on then, just one more chapter,' when reading.
  15. 1. Aerosmith 2. KISS 3. Queen 4. Alestorm 5. The Doors 6. Johnny Cash 7. David Bowie 8. Rock Sugar 9. System of a Down 10. Steel Panther 11. Slipknot 12. Thin Lizzy 13. T-Rex 14. Lynyrd Skynyrd 15. Bon Jovi The order from about 5 down gets a bit scrambled... I may go away to reflect...
  16. Not generally a huge beat-em-up fan and I was terribly bad at Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, so I was only going to get it when it was cheap in price... but Hawkeye? Rocket Racoon? Doctor Strange? IRON FUCKING FIST?! I'm in, I'm in, I'm in!
  17. Yeah, Idiot's Lantern isn't too shabby and the first of the Ood two parter is exellent and I really enjoyed the finale too. The odd episode was tripe, but as a whole I think it's one of the stronger of the RTD series.
  18. I loved the feedback from the supermarket that the chocolate was the wrong way on the BixMix, because its design meant one person had to have chocolate and one had to have digestive. Or you could just snap the biscuit the other way yourself...it's a biscuit, it's not made out of lead. And the Tom/Melody role-play pitch was painful.
  19. Does anyone else concede a daft ammount of goals straight after scoring yourself? I'm almost scared to score these days.
  20. In the summer I paid £5.75M for Douglas, a Brazilian Centre-back to act as cover for Jan Vertongen and Daniel Agger, and it's a good job I did because Agger missed September, October and November through injury. Douglas was out-standing, and I now have no preference between him and Agger as central defensive partner for Vertongen. I decide match-by-match based on condition, upcoming fixtures and recent performances. The player has expressed no desire to go, nor do I particularly want to sell him. But Bayern and Sevilla have both just offered me £10M. I have no transfer budget left and £10M look quite good. £10m is over £4M profit in five months. If he goes, I still have Skrtel as cover; I have Kelly and Wilson who I've been playing semi-regularly in each full back slot who can play in the centre, and I have Daniel Ayala kicking up a storm in the reserves. Plus, with £10M I could fund a move for Phil Jones. So, decisions, decisions, decisions. I'm thinking of turning around and asking for £15M for Douglas and seeing what happens.
  21. Ah man, I remember the side-scrolling SNES game; that takes me WAY back. And 'budget' is a good price to pay. Very interesting. Very interesting indeed....
  22. Injuries are a bitch. For the next game I'll have one fit striker (Torres and Obasi BOTH have fractured ribs and Pacheco has something wrong with him); and for the next 3-5 games a lot of my attacking midfielders are injured - Poulsen (not attacking, but still), Cole and Gerrard all have injuries and Affellay has the fitness of a bed-ridden pensioner, and Obasi, who can be a beast on the right wing, as I have mentioned is injured. Without him, Cole and Gerrard and even Pacheco I have no right winger. I have no one who has ever heard of this strange position known in some circles as the right wing. I have centre-halfs. I have whole armies of those. I have central midfielders WHO CAN PLAY THERE ONLY AND NOWHERE ELSE. My option seem to be to turtle it in the Champions League games; but that seems daft against teams like Middlesborough and Wigan in the Premiership; or call up youngsters from the under 18's and hope for the best.
  23. ^^^ They were escorting the armies off Demon's Run. ^^^ Something I noticed on the re-watch: How did Eye-patch woman escape Hugh Boneville and his pirates? Skummy hit everything spot on, and summed the episode up very well. Matt Smith was amazing in that episode, and if there was still the slight lingering doubt that he didn't do 'angry' as well as he might, it is gone now. In the scene with 'Colonel Runaway,' in particular he was just brilliant. As for the name 'Doctor,' I think the idea might be that the Doctor chose the name based on it's meanings; but then is own hundreds of years of adventures created the very word in the first place. It's not inconceivable (especially in light of the RTD era mythical hero stuff) that a few adventures in a few early civilisations could have given birth to the word and spread the 'legend,' far more easily than it would today. On that note, I'll say again that I really liked the idea that the word Doctor means different things in some cultures, like 'Magnificent Warrior,' in the Forest; like 'Oncoming Storm,' for the Daleks.
  24. First volume was good. Second I got halfway through and thought it was pants and stopped. Though I know folk who love the second volume...
