  1. Once Upon a Time has become a guilty pleasure of mine as far as TV shows go, despite the dip in quality the show took in seasons four and five. However I just seen a sneak peek of Aladdin and Jafar from this season, and maybe it's just a biased speaking as Aladdin was easily my favorite Disney movie growing up, but it looks like the writing actually got their shit together for this upcoming season.
  2. I just started the Batwing solo series, only four issues in and I feel like this has the potential to be really good.
  3. Yeah it's attitude towards certain issues is tasteless, I agree. Also it'd does have a rep as being pretty bad however I think the people who generally don't like it aren't getting that no one involved wasn't trying to make anything other then a fun little action flick.
  4. I'll be honest I don't get the bad rep Con Air has gotten over the years. Like the movie is completely tongue in cheek for the most part, the actors are obviously just chewing up the scenery and having a good time, the crew got to play with explosives and blow alot of things up every few scenes.. The entire movie just screams mindless summer blockbuster. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, thank you for choosing Con Air.
  5. Literally woke up to this playing on the R&B station this morning. Sixteen years ago without fail this would be the go to final slow dance song to finish out the school dance for at least the entirety of junior high. Don't think i ever did build up the courage to ask my crush to dance to this. Haha.
  6. I haven't watched it since its original run and this could be my ever lasting love for Eliza Dushku speaking but Dollhouse could have lasted longer.
  7. Blackest Night is a pretty good read but its kind of hard to compare it to Flashpoint. Unlike Flashpoint where you can go in pretty blindly because its serves as a reset, it defiantly helps being somewhat familiar with the DC Universe before going into Blackest Night.
  8. I tried watching Gotham season one well it was airing however I tapped out pretty quickly, within ten episodes or so. The shows been recommended to me but said person has pretty questionable taste. Does it get better with season two? If so can a person jump in at season two with little problem as far as character dynamics go?
  9. I'm probably in a really small minority but I really hope John Henry Irons shows up in Supergirl, even if it's just on a recurring basis.
  10. Like I said it wasn't a slight against Viola Davis, the writers or even the director, I'm just honestly not a fan of the character in general.
  11. Well Suicide Squad wasn't half as bad as I was expecting but maybe I'm just being biased since I am admittedly more of a DC fan then Marvel and I am pulling for them to find some success in building a film universe. Outside of the fact that you can tell at times its clearly two films put together my only grievance with the film is Amanda Waller and that comes down to never really digging the character in general more then how she's presented here. Also I love how Killer Croc and Boomerang just become best bros for life. I want more of Boomerang just being a hooligan with Croc as his heavy.
  12. 1. Superman 2. The Riddler 3. Captain Cold 4. Nightwing 5. Batman 6. The Flash (toss up between Barry Allen and Wally West tbh, on any given day it change) 7. Steel 8. Mister Sinister 9. Daredevil 10. Lex Luthor
  13. I've been rereading David Hine's District X and its still pretty amazing. Its a 14 issue run that merges X-Men with a urban crime drama, taking place in Mutant Town. It's a pretty self contained story with only one proper X-Men Character (Bishop) appearing in the series and even than the interpretation is pretty loose, so its not like one needs to know years of history to jump into the story. Unfortunately it was canned after House Of M and is a pretty rare find, but if given the opportunity to read it, its a pretty engaging story and I personally would love to see it get a run as a TV show. Also I don't understand the dislike the general community has for John Henry Irons, is he the most original character to ever appear in a comic? Nah, he's the bastard son of Tony Stark and Superman but I complaint I hear often about Superman is that he's too overpowered, uninteresting and not relatable, DC gave people a regular guy with Superman's moral and values and he gets shit on. Maybe I'm just biased towards the character due to the fact YTV used to run commercials for Superfamily action figures and seeing Steel smash through a brick wall with his hammer left a lasting impression on 7 year old me.
  14. All New X-Men is actually amazing, the whole time displaced gimmick works well, Wolverine is pretty much a side character which is always welcomed as I am personally burned out on the character, I was invested in all five original characters, Kitty Pryde is front and center for most of the run. Love it. This should be the X-Comic that's front and center.
  15. Since this has kind of become a general true crime show/podcast/movie thread I'd like to suggest to everyone a documentary call The Imposter. In a nutshell its the story of a French con man named Frederic Bourdin, who's M.O. is impersonating lost/orphaned teenage boys, only this time he steals the identity of a boy who's been missing for three years and after meeting the Texian family of said boy things aren't exactly what they seem.
  16. I was reading an interview with the producers a night or two ago and apparently its because they want this to be Kara's story and they actually have full access to Superman related characters. At this moment at least they feel keeping all references / appearances of Superman to a minimum is the correct route to go.
  17. I was literally just rewatching the original Scream last night and had planned on binging the Elm Street films over the long weekend. This is utterly gut wrenching, RIP Wes and thank you for the hours and hours of entertainment you've given us over the years.
  18. I'm not overly familiar with Al Pacino's body of work outside of the usual go to films, i.e. the Godfather ones and Scarface (ugh) but holy crap I just saw Carlito's Way for the first time last week and holy shit this movie deserves way more love then it gets.. Such a powerful film, everyone involved with it brought there A (A + in some cases) games. The movie itself takes awhile to get going but when it does, it does and it never lets up even for a second. I was expecting to turn this on and get Scarface part two, but instead I got a great character driven drama that just happens to involve someone who lived a life of crime and criminal situations. Al Pacino with the greatest of ease makes you forget that he is the iconic coked out Cuban who indulges in a life of crime, looking for what is his and makes you root for Carlito. The last hour of this movie is just absolutely intense, and may be some of the most suspenseful ever as Carlito's world begins to crumble down around him you can't help but let out a sigh of relief as you dodges obstacle after obstacle, tense up when it seems he's finally been caught up with past decisions, and so on and so forth. This is a pretty ramble-ly post but yeah, I'd say if I had to make a list of top 20 greatest films list, after watching Carlito's Way I can honestly say it'd crack top 10, if not 5. Such a great, great film.
  19. What's Lex up to these days? Anyone have any idea if he'd be willing or welcomed back for another season? I remember him being pretty bitter about how All-stars played out, but maybe because he was my first Survivor I actually find myself rooting for I've been holding put for a return of some kind.
  20. I loved Max's reaction to Shane not making the cut. I think he took it harder then finding out he himself would not be returning.
  21. It was actually implied in Blood Vs Water that Colton had quit in One World, exaggerating an illness he had come down with as a way to leave the game. He was given the benefit of the doubt and brought back, only to outright quit. You'll never have to worry about seeing Colton ever again on Survivor.
  22. If Jim doesn't get picked up I'll be absolutely gutted. He was one of those players who should have gone deep into the game but got screwed over by twists (and Cochran who was more worried about being a character instead of playing the game). Also would love to see Jeff get the nod, but that's selfishly because he was the first Survivor I actually remember rooting for and liking.
