  1. Great episode. Just a little bit miffed that it didn't resolve anything. It didn't feel like a season finale. Just like another episode.
  2. There are reports that Rose wasn't the only one who auditioned for AC/DC. There is a Report from the singer of a Dallas-based AC/DC Cover band called "Back In Black" who played with them in a private rehearsal room in Atlanta in the week of March 14th. They only planned to perform 3-4 songs but ended up playing the entire "Rock Or Bust" tour set and 2 extra songs "Riff Raff" and "Dog Eat Dog". So it seems like they played with the thought of getting a completely new singer for the tour. Or maybe these auditions were held to find a new full-time singer once Axl leaves to do the GnR tour. Who knows.
  3. Angus Young joined Guns N' Roses on stage at Coachella to play the AC/DC songs "Riff Raff" and "Whole Lotta Rosie" with them.
  4. According to several sources such as Forbes.com, Rolling Stone and Billboard.com it's official: After 36 years and 10 studio albums Brian Johnson left AC/DC. An Era is coming to an end. According to these websites he made the decision to quit to avoid permanent hearing loss. After Malcom Young leaving the band due to dementia and Phil Rudd being kicked out due to his recent legal troubles Johnson is the third long-term member of the band to exit the band in the last two years leaving only Angus Young (who has founded the band with his brother) and Cliff Williams (who is with the band since 1977). Alongside them AC/DC is currently made-up of Steve Young, nephew of Malcolm and Angus who helped them out during the "Blow Up Your Video" World Tour in 1988, and Chris Slade, who recorded the album "The Razor's Edge" with the band and played the subsequent tour. We don't know if they're looking to carry on after this tour (rumors suggest that they're rehearsing with potential long-term replacements but nothing has been made official yet), they've found a replacement for the remaining dates of the "Rock Or Bust" tour. And it's no other than Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose! This is actually happening! Source: RollingStone.com
  5. For Kamelot I'd recomend everything between "The Fourth Legacy" and "Ghost Opera". That was Kamelot at their peak. The albums after that (the one with Kahn and the two with the new guy) are good as well. But not as good.
  6. Of course the driver knows something Mike! He saw your car! HOLY SHIT I didn't saw what happaned in the final scene coming!
  7. I enjoyed The Hateful Eight more than Django Unchained. Not that Django Unchained is a bad movie but they probably could've cut 30-45 minutes of film.
  8. I think I finally figured out the main reason why I can't really get into this show: Charlie Cox. He is soooo bland and apart from the fighting scenes (which are probably done by a double) his performance doesn't captivate me. If he has another strong character to play off of (like the Kingpin or the Punisher) he is okay but if the other character is someone as ill defined and bland as Elektra is in this show it's not fun to watch. Also don't really care about that stupid Yakuza-ninja sub-plot so I was very sad to see that the Punisher takes a back-seat after Episode 4.I made it to episode 6 or 7 until I quit.
  9. So no one has anything to say about the amazing finale of "American Crime Story"? I can't beleive how good this show was. I don't know how it holds up for people who witnessed the trial as it happened but for someone like me who only had superficial knowledge about the case (I knew about the murder, I knew about the glove that didn't fit, I knew that he was acquitted and I knew that a lot of people thought he was guilty but that was about it) it was very gripping despite knowing the outcome of it all.
  10. So the final podcast of the 2nd season of Serial was released a few days ago. And I have to say I really did enjoy this Season. Wasn't as captivating as Season 1. But for someone like me who was only vaguely aware of the Bowe Bergdahl situation (I knew that he was a US soldier captured by the Taliban that was freed because of a deal the US government made but that was about it) it was very fascinating despite the lack of a "did he or didn't he do it?" mystery like Season 1 had.
  11. Yeah, their relationship starts out that way but because they have 4 movies they have time to develope it. In Battle Royale we don't get to see that because they kill these characters as soon as they confess their feelings. It's pointless. And I don't want them to have a happy ending. I know that Battle Royale is not that kind of movie and my least favorite part about Hunger Games was the happy ending. To me the romances seems like something they added to make us care about the characters because they couldn't be bothered to give us any ccharacterization beforehand. And that doesn't work. Same with the violence. It was kinda shocking the first few times to see children kill eachother in such violent ways. But because the filmmakers are so keen on showing us every death in that movie these moments loose their poignancy very fast.
  12. I get where you're coming from but I take the hollywood blandness of Katniss' journey over a bunch of meaningless, kitschy "I always had a crush on!" "Really, but you never said anything" relationships that last probably about 30 seconds before they both die. And the teacher confused me the most. I had no idea what they were going for. What you say might be true buy I can't tell if he is supposed to be acting detached or if Takeshi Kitano actually doesn't care what is going on. Another thing that I forgot to mention was the girl with the scythe. At some point we learn about her past any why she behaves like she does and I got my hopes up that they might be going somewhere with this. Then that fucking Uzi guy shows up and guns her down moments after. I really hate that guy.
  13. Can someone explain to me what the big deal is about the movie Battle Royale? I'm a fan of the Hunger Games movies and novels and ever since I got into the franchise I've read comment about how Suzanne Collins supposedly took a lot of inspiration from the book Battle Royale without giving credit. I've also read comments about how the movie adaptation of Battle Royale is supposed to be superior to the Hunger Games movies. So I bought Battle Royale with very high expectations and I haven't been that disappointed in a movie since Spectre came out last year. The premise barley makes any sense. It's hard to tell the students apart because they all wear the same clothing and the authors couldn't be bothered to provide decent characterization for them because there are way too many of them and we spent barley any time with them before they all get killed in ridiculously violent ways which makes it hard to care for anyone. They are mostly there for the body count. There never manage to build up suspense because of how absurd everything is. For example there is that one guy who enters the battle royale voluntarily and spends most of his time gunning down students with his Uzi shooting hundreds and hundreds of rounds without reloading. As far as I can tell he only reloaded once in a very convenient moment to give another student an opening to attack. And there is another ridicules moment during the finale in which the main antagonist of the movie get's riddled with bullets only to get up again, sit down on his couch, call his sister, eat one last cooky and then die on the couch. They kill any poignancy this scene might have had that way. This could have been good if the movie was supposed to be some nihilistic comedy but they play it all dead serious There are a lot of subplots that either don't go anywhere or are superfluous (there is one group of students who manage to come up with a plan to escape the battle royale that might work. They get gunned down by the psycho. That's it for this particular subplot. Why even bother?). The acting is bad. The melodrama is even worse. Because they can't provide decent characterization for most of these students they try to make us care about them by shoehorning these romances into the plot to make their inevitable demise more sad. Most of these romances feel awkward and forced. The only relationship that gets a bit more time is the one between the main antagonists and I don't feel like that ever went anywhere. By the end I was left with more questions than answers. I don't get the hype about this. Maybe I should give the novel a chance.
  14. I never thought I would say this but I feel genuinely bad for poor, doe-eyed Penguin.
  15. I've just finished episode 1 and I already like this much more than Season 1. I guess I'm just tired of origin stories.
  16. Wow, how different perceptions can be. I love Terranigma and if I had to make a list of my favorite games it would be in the top 5. I'm not saying Illusion Of TIme is bad. I had a lot of fun playing that as well. And maybe it's due to nostalgia that Terranigma holds up so well in my mind.
  17. That game had a spiritual successor called "Terranigma" released in fall of 1995 in Japan and winter of 1996 in Europe. It was never released in the US though. There was another one where they basically gave the engine over to US developers to make their own RPG but I can't remember the name of that. Edit: The game I was talking about was "Secret Of Evermore" and it had nothing to do with the "Soulblazer/Illusion Of Gaia/Terranigma" trilogy by Enix. Rather, it was a spin-off of the "Secret Of Mana" franchise by Square. After the success of "Secret Of Mana" (which actually is the 2nd game of the franchise) people wanted a sequel. But the official sequel "Seiken Densetsu 3" was only released in Japan. The rest of the world got "Secret Of Evermore" which was the first game to be developed by Square USA.
  18. ...I don't get it. Could you please explain that to me?
  19. I would really love to have a spin-off show just about Alfred kicking ass and tacking names.
  20. AC/DC has to postpone the remaining 10 shows of the U.S. leg of their "Rock Or Bust" tour. In a press release the band states that the doctors of singer Brian Johnson advised him to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss. The shows will be rescheduled to later this year and will likely feature a quest singer. This are the dates that will be recheduled: March 08 - Atlanta, GA - Philips Arena March 11 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL - BB&T Center March 14 - Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Coliseum March 17 - Washington, DC - Verizon Center March 20 - Detroit, MI - The Palace March 23 - Columbus, OH - Nationwide Arena March 26 - Cleveland, OH - Quicken Loans Arena March 29 - Buffalo, NY - First Niagara Center April 01 - Philadelphia, PA - Wells Fargo Center April 04 - New York, NY - Madison Square Garden These guys just can't catch a break, can they? First Malcom is diagnosed with dementia, then Phil Rudd goes crazy and now this. I hope Johnson makes a full recovery and can return to the band. I also wonder who they'll get as quest singer. Marc Storace from Krokus would be a great choice.
  21. So House Of Cards Season 4 has been released by Netflix. So far I've watched the first 4 episodes and I already like it much more than Season 3.
