  1. Well damn. Ant just showed the world what a player he is.
  2. Because I have a deadly combination of free time, a border-line crippling dose of social anxiety, and a bizarre love of statistics, I've spent all season doing my own daily stats to find my own MVP based purely on statistics and visibility. Every player who plays more than 15 minutes in a game gets a score. The score is based mainly on the standard box score statistics, but there are extra bonus points for having the highest score on the team, and the highest score in the match, as well as getting a score over 50, 100 and 150. For every day there are higher bonus points for getting the highest score of the day, the highest score per minutes played, the most points, the most assists, the most rebounds and the combined highest steals and blocks. I won't bore you with any more details, but here are the top 10 players with the highest overall score for the season: 1. Nikola Jokic - 994.9 2. Luka Doncic - 992.81 3. Giannis Antetokounmpo - 885.81 4. Anthony Davis - 628.15 5. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 613.63 6. Joel Embiid - 575 7. Victor Wembanyama - 558.18 8. Damontas Sabonis - 525.4 9. Tyrese Haliburton - 412.2 10. Jalen Brunson - 385 Most days with the most points scored - Luka Doncic Most days with the most rebounds - Damontas Sabonis Most days with the most assists - Tyrese Haliburton Most days with the most blocks/steals - Victor Wembanyama Most days with the highest score - Luka Doncic Most days with the highest score per minute - Giannis Antetokounmpo Jokic may not have won any of those awards, he got more player of the team and player of the game bonus points than Doncic, the last of which let him overtake Doncic on the final game when Doncic was rested by the Mavericks. Just for my own entertainment, here's every team's leading player:
  3. Eddie Hearn has now come out and said how snooker "must "embrace" investment from different parts of the globe" and "Snooker does not need to just have to land in the UK or China", which he may as well have said whilst wearing a thawb and waving a Saudi flag.
  4. "That concludes the draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. The ties will be played over the weekend of the 15th to the 23rd of January."
  5. There was something funny about how the Sixers were playing like garbage until two missed Heat free-throws won the whole arena free chicken, and that somehow made the team wake up and they went on a tear. The Bulls/Hawks result seemed like winning to get a chance to lose to the Heat, but Butler may be out which opens things up a bit. Not that he did much of note during the regular season, so maybe the Heat will be fine without him.
  6. I'm genuinely interested to see if Belichick will be as monotone and unforthcoming as he was a head coach now he's working for the media, the people he hated so much for all those years. That said, as I'll be working on the Friday, I'll be recording the draft and fast-forwarding most of the panel discussion.
  7. It's essentially the same as having the Darts World Championship not played at Alexandra Palace or the Lakeside, or even the Masters not being played at Trump National instead of Augusta. That said, I fully expect the Snooker World Championship to move abroad, the Hearns have been far more active in trying to move tournaments to China in the Middle East for snooker than they have for darts, and already have a track record from their boxing promotion. The atmosphere would be terrible between frames, but that would likely be ignored as it's also a game that's predominantly silent to begin with. And as we see more and more every year, tradition and history are easily out-weighed by money and more money.
  8. Time to piss off my fellow Spurs fans... Blue shorts are back!
  9. As Dele pointed out, none of them were squabbling over getting to take the high-pressure penalty against Man Utd last week, but when it's 4-0 suddenly everyone wants to be the hero.
  10. Well we're 0-3 against them this season, including getting massacred by them at home last night, so let's say I'm not expecting much.
  11. Crazy to see how close the Western Conference is at both the top, and the play-off/play-in places. It's making it very difficult to me to know who are going to knock out the Wolves in the first round. I'm going to assume it will be the Lakers.
  12. I was planning to stay out of 97 until I'd finished the original series, but I couldn't keep away any longer and watched all 5 episodes today.
  13. I still think Antonelli might get a year at Williams first, but I say that with no answer to who would get the Mercedes seat instead. Based on how Fernando's past decisions have worked out, particularly involving Honda, I think we can use this as evidence that Aston Martin will not be competitive in 2026.
  14. Even if your wish was guaranteed, I would fight this with every ounce of strength in my body! The Gladiator is always on the right, from Season 1 to Season 8, the Sky seasons, and eventually the BBC when they changed it back halfway through this season. They took away the Duel music, don't take this from me as well!
  15. From a former Heavyweight champion being a hero to the current one being a dick, Jon Jones has been arrested (again), this time for threatening drug testers who came to his house for a mandatory drug test.
  16. I did it! I'm still awake! Just like I could do 20 years ago! And there's a red fla-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  17. Bronny is entering the draft, so look forward to 3 months of consistent talk about where he's going and whether LeBron will join him.
  18. I can't help but feel there's a saying that reflects that decision, something about not learning history, doomed to repeat it etc.
  19. Weirdly I just watched Heat 3 of Season 6, and one of the female contenders did the exact same thing - she injured her knee in Whiplash, then skipped Gauntlet to concentrate on the Eliminator, so there is a precedent for it. The difference is she had a much worse injury, and completely blew out her knee on the second obstacle on the Eliminator and had to be carted out on a stretcher (whilst Ulrika was still interviewing her). On that note, the gulf between seasons 1-5 and season 6 is enormous. Jeremy Guscott is a terrible host, they lost five Gladiators (Panther, Trojan, Zodiac, Nightshade and Laser) and replaced them without giving the new Gladiators any introductions (although Laser was only a temporary Gladiator for S5 when Nightshade had to stop, she wasn't even in the title sequence), they started splitting the events between genders (e.g. the female contenders played Hang Tough and the male contenders played Duel) and completely revamped the Eliminator for seemingly no reason. They also spend more time showing the Gladiators doing training exercises in Mauritius and cut out the majority of the post-event interviews to make room for that, adding to the new Gladiators getting no time to introduce themselves. I defy anyone to be able to tell the difference between Siren, Fox and Gold.
  20. A producer has said that they fully intend to bring back every Gladiator for the second series, which is great. There's also a lot of speculation, mainly based on it happening in the Australian reboot, that Finlay and Marie-Louise will come back as Gladiators next year as a reward for winning this time. Given how they were both Eliminator-experts and barely scored points outside of Gauntlet (where everyone scored 10 points) that doesn't seem like a good idea.
  21. There's part of me that wants to take on the challenge of staying up to watch WrestleMania Saturday and going straight through to watch the Japanese GP at 6am as well. There's another part of me reminding me that I'm 37, and should probably stop trying to do this now.
  22. BAFTA have done a poll to find the Top 20 most iconic video game characters, and I have issues, despite the fact that it was a poll of 4000 people and therefore has no actual meaning other than the creation of this list. The Most Iconic Video Games Characters of All Time (ranked in order of votes received): Firstly, Mario is, and always will be, #1. This is undeniable. Secondly, I love Agent 47, and I've never played a Sonic game, but he shouldn't be ahead of Sonic. Thirdly, I love Arthur Morgan, but he's been in literally one game and shouldn't be ahead of Pikachu (who should be top 5) Fourthly, I am very glad to see that Kiryu got in there, it speaks for the remarkable rise of the Yakuza/LAD franchise in the UK. Lastly, Sackboy being as high as #5 is perhaps the most ridiculous part of all of this.
  23. 1988 season done, and the Trail Blazers dynasty continues as they win their third NBA championship in a row, with Hakeem Olajuwon picking up Finals MVP once again. MVP went to Magic Johnson, Rookie of the Year to David Robinson of the Knicks, 6th Man to Paul Pressey, Defensive Player of the Year to Michael Jordan of the Pacers, and Hot Rod Williams was the Most Improved. Whilst the Blazers were dominating, the rest of the league went a little crazy. The Knicks, after four seasons not making the play-offs, went all the way to the NBA Finals (although did get swept), and the Nuggets, 3rd worst record in 1987, made it to the Western Conference Finals, despite not really improving their team in the off-season. Not such great news for the Clippers who went from 4 straight play-offs to the worst record, and the Nets and Bullets continued to struggle, with the Bullets losing Reggie Miller for the season after just 21 games. Perhaps the most shocking news is that Doc Rivers, at the age of 26, has been forced to retire after a devastating ACL injury, leaving the Hawks without their All-Star Point Guard, and inflicting his coaching and commentary on the league earlier than in reality. Artis Gilmore was the only major retirement due to age, and he didn't even get his jersey retired. We welcome the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets to the league, meaning we have an Expansion Draft to deal with. We also get the hilarity of the Heat being allocated to the Western Conference, because they're more geographically west than Charlotte. I'll just give you the top 5 picks for each. TL;DR - Both teams are terrible. The #1 pick went to the Spurs thanks to the lottery, the Bullets finally got a high pick with #2, the Suns #3, and the Clippers fell to #6 behind the expansion teams. First round is below: Major Free Agent moves: Dennis Rodman to the Clippers Terry Porter to the Nuggets Hot Rod Williams to the Lakers Mychal Thompson to the Warriors Kelly Tripucka to the Celtics
  24. Sebastian Vettel confirms "conversations" with Toto Wolff regarding the available Mercedes seat for 2025. Because this hadn't quite got crazy enough already.
