  1. Yes, yes I agree. When McGee used the phrase numbers don't lie in regards to Tebow's subpar stats, I'm just countering that numbers do often lie, especially in football and basketball, and that stats shouldn't be the end all be all, especially in regards to someone who's done a little winning in his short sample size.
  2. Not quoting this to continue this Tebow debate, but numbers quite often lie or mask the truth in the NFL and NBA. John Elway and Troy Aikman are good examples of this. How are either of those guys good examples? Elway was a great quarterback on bad teams who lead them places they shouldn't have gone, and Aikman was an quality starter surrounded by superior talent. I'm missing your point here. Both of those guys didn't have great numbers.
  3. When they traded for Joe Johnson, that's when they believed they had the tools needed to win it. They'll get into the East playoffs, but there is no way they could handle Miami or the Knicks. Hell, I'd say the Indiana and the Hawks would beat them in six or seven (at least if things started within the next week or so). You hit the nail on the head about the owner's reaction to this team bobbing along every year, though. Either he'll be a Russian Steinbrenner or out of the league in five years. I always got a kick out of players who have this perceived notion of being good, or the key to winning or all of this. Joe Johnson is probably the best example of this. Afterall, the Hawks gave him away for piratically nothing, and they're 19-9.

  5. Just quoting this as it perfect describes why FF XII is my favorite Final Fantasy game.
  6. For the record, that's not what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that he deserves a chance in the NFL still, that he is a NFL caliber QB (most likely a below average one, this isn't exactly high praise) and has had success in the NFL, more success than failure, so that he could succeed. I'm really arguing against the whole "he doesn't deserve to be in the NFL, he's a complete scrub, CFL next year etc" sentiment.
  7. They went 53-29 the year before, and 31-23 before Sloan was fired.
  8. For years, Kobe was labeled uncoachable after the Phil left in 2004 and Rudy T had health problems (which Jackson wrote in his book, that he didn't expect Rudy T to be able to handle Bryant.). If a player is truly a superstar player, he should be able to adapt to a Coach's system. In the late 80s early 90s, it was all said that the triangle would ruin Jordan, and hell even Jordan thought that too (all detailed in the Jordan Rules). But he adapted and figured it out. Anytime a player feels they can't work in a system, that's basically saying "I have these flaws". Jerry Sloan and Avery Johnson have 3 finals appearances between them, it is not as if Deron is dealing with the Tim Floyds of coaches either. Also, those Utah teams were hardly shit teams.
  9. They weren't a top 5 defense last year though. 24th in points allowed and 13th in yards allowed. If we're going to debate Tebow's statistics, it's not all that bad. Career TD:INT ratio of 17:9 (good side of average), 6.5 yards per attempt (bad side of average) and the fact that he could run (660 yards, 6 TD last season). He might ultimately be a scrub, and some other statistics might make him look worse (comp%, QBR and Passer Rating to name three), but he deserves a chance. Tebow's lone playoff win (10/21, 316 yards, 50 rushing yards, 2 TD, 1 Rushing TD, against a team that lead the league in defensive yards allowed no less) while the defense allowed 400 yards and 10 late points shows that the man can play.
  10. I'll say this about Tim Tebow, I get that his numbers were awful when he was winning in Denver. His throwing motion sucks. Or a ton other things that show that he isn't a NFL caliber QB. But he has shown that he can QB a team that wins games, and did throw a game winning TD pass in a playoff game in a high pressure situation (overtime, no less). That alone should give him a chance to play somewhere in the NFL. Think of some of the scrubs that played QB for a NFL team this year: John Skelton, Ryan Lindsay (or however those guys on Arizona's name are spelled), Brady Quinn, Blaine Gabbert. I'd at the very least rather have Tebow over any of these guys. He deserves the chance to get into a starting situation. If he fails, he fails, but he has succeeded (in some way) before. While I don't think he'll particularly do well in Jacksonville next year, I think it needs to be seen.
  11. Iverson and Larry Brown eventually fixed their issues. I don't recall Iverson getting anyone fired. EDIT: I did forget about the post Brown stuff, but it still doesn't seem as bad as Deron Williams.
  12. I fully expect Sanchez to have a great game. He's done very well against the Bills in his career.
  13. The Giants were also a 4 seed last year.
  14. Didn't know you had the Titans over your place.
  15. The Jets are only 1 game out of the 6th seed! @ Tennessee, San Diego and @ Buffalo, all "winnable" games!
  16. I will get a Wii U when the next Smash comes out, as I did with the Wii then play everything I can. Of course, if there is some Mario Galaxy (what's bigger than a Galaxy, I'm not sure?) that might make me do it faster.
  17. Since this has resurrected, I have a question about the game. So there are tons of created characters online for download. Since creating on FPR is tedious and difficult, I always wanted to download some of the customs for that reason. Now, to make that work on a PS2, you need like a max drive and all this other stuff that I don't want to use and such (I hate 3rd party electronics). But, old school PS3s, is there an easier way to do that? Like with a USB?
  18. Wooo got my Wrestlemania ticket today!

  19. I liked Phantom Menance a lot. The Darth Maul character seemed pretty cool (although I agree it is disappointing to not know more about him). The only one of the pre-quels I dislike is Attack of the Clones.
  20. As someone who actually liked two of the three prequels (Revenge of the Sith is my 2nd favorite of the series), and someone who disliked most of Marvel up until The Avengers came out, I am pumped for this.
  21. My entry in an ApSham contest from some 3 and a half years ago. Someone should do something like this today, especially with the many great opinions there are in the Ring. http://www.ewbattleground.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69699

  22. That and mismanagement. Oakland just got a GM. IT'S 2012. It's amazing we won any games. As fire the predictions posted, Oakland isn't going 3-13. Too much talent. Palmer was a top 15 qb during the time he played last year. The offense can be explosive, and the division is weak. Carson Palmer was not a top 15 QB for his 10 games.
  23. I'm not saying he used the Bat to fly, but I definitely took that scene as an explanation of how he got back, with Fox asking if he flew ok (a plane? South Korean smugglers again? Whatever, no idea). I don't recall if Fox used the words "The Bat" in that case. Wayne had spoken to Fox between the events of using the Bat and Wayne returning from prison though, when they decided to entrust Wayne Enterprises to Tate (Fox shows up at his door afterall). So it isn't the first time.
