I hadn't seen it until now, but the Ronaldinho overhead against Villarreal is pretty special.

My favourite Wayne Rooney goals;

vs. Urawa Reds. Probably my favourite Rooney goal. 2005/2006 pre-season.

vs. Arsenal. A 16-year-old Wayne Rooney scores the goal that put his name on everybody's lips.

vs. Newcastle. Injured, pissed off at the ref, about to be substituted...and then he scores a rocketbusta.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnhIlBngdlM. Rooney completes his first ever senior hat-trick, in his first-ever European match, on his Manchester United debut.

vs. Arsenal. A crunching tackle from Vidic, a pinpoint cross from Silvestre and a great finish from Rooney.

Guest Ringley Whitford

Most of my favourites have been mentioned, so I'll just lop on a few more.

I always marked out for http://youtube.com/watch?v=0_pO6LLEnHQ. The goal itself isn't the nicest but it just came out of nowhere and I went slightly ballistic when I first saw it.

I also love Cantona's goal against Sunderland. Not only does he take it really well, but he just stands there and looks around as though to say "Yeah, I'm the best, bitch" afterwards.

I'd also add Dalian Atkinson against Wimbledon and Di Canio against Wimbledon.

Trademark Gerrard match winner, but brilliant for the Andy Gray's non-bias commentary

Zidane vs Scotland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJEa4-17CHs.

Bert Konterman vs Celtic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U9i8-LJc7o.

Didier Hamann Free-Kick Rocket: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHgi7HXTj_Q.

Roberto Carlos, Tightest Angle In History: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXAfnFeCd1s.

YouTube's practically flooded with great Shearer goals, so I won't even bother.

Some of my favourites I could find. The Zidane one has a shit angle, it looked much better from the other side.

There's another one that's almost exactly like it, in Hampden Park AGAIN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s64h3YPFW6I.

I also loved this one:

Kanu believe it?

And thinking of old Arsenal players led me to one of my favourites, and to this goal:

Not only is it a pretty damn good goal by anyone's standards, but it was the only goal he EVER scored for Arsenal. In four years, 150ish games. After hitting the post, the crossbar, missing embarrasingly for four yards... he did it all :P Then he finally scored, and it was awesome. Still lost to QPR though ¬_¬

Kurre Hamrin - for Sweden vs. Germany in the WC Semi-Finals in '58. I love how he practically stops, allows the Germans to cathc up, knock it past two of them, before scoring from a ridiculous angle.

Best team goal ever is EASILY:

- This clip actually shows part of the earlier movement to what you normally see when looking at this goal. Love how the Barzillian midfielders owns two or three players before just stopping at passing the ball nonchalantly five feet to the winger next to him.

Then again, this is up there:

Esteban Cambiasso - Argentina vs Serbia from WC 2006. The entire build up. IMO, it looks better now, so many months on, than it did then - when it was shown 9 million times a day. lol.

I'll add more later.

That bloody Cambiasso goal again... rediculously overrated.

Give any 'fluid passing' team (Arsenal, Chelsea, United in parts) a relatively shite opponent and they'll do that regularly, for a lot of the match. The only thing that made this goal any different was the fact that it was at the World Cup, and there was a goal at the end.

If they'd done it against Brazil, France, Italy... hell, anyone who could be fucked to defend, then sure. But when you're playing Serbia, a team already out of the World Cup, and you go on to win six bloody nil (although granted they were only 1-0 up at this point), it just stinks of showing off against a shit team.

Half the passes go BACKWARDS for no real reason other than they can put more pointless passes together that way. Obviously sometimes you're forced to pass backwards, if you're being marked tightly, need to create some space, or there are no other options. But half those passes were just silly. They're in acres of space, loads of options open... shall we try and score? Nah, lets give it to Mr Left Back, he hasn't had a touch yet.

Oh, and all of that is ignoring the blatant foul right underneath the referee's nose right at the start :P He never touched the ball, just mows the player down. Although granted the Serbian dude's dribbling was so piss-poor it's debateable whether he'd have gotten to it before the Argie anyway.

Meh. I just hate that goal with a burning passion. Playing piggie in the middle against the fat kid who gets picked last every time doesn't require skill :P

Edit: Actually, that's a lie. I don't hate the goal. The goal (Crespo's backheel and then Cambiasso's finish) was awesome. It's the "piggie in the middle vs fat kid" bit that I have a problem with.

Edit2: It's not even that. Serbia were shit, it's not the Argie's fault for humiliating them. It's the fact that everyone masturbates over it that annoys me.

If you start watching at 00:50, it's a brilliant goal.

Yeah, to be fair, Serbia & Montenegro was a complete embarrassment to themselves at the World Cup. And now they're seperate countries, I'm not sure if either will get there again. Kind of sad really.

I don't know about that. They managed to get to the tournament this year and if I remember right, only one of the World Cup squad is from Montenegro (the goalkeeper?).

Yeah, but the European Qualifiers are tough for any pretty much any team to qualify from.

I'm sure more of the squad were Montenegrin than one. But most were Serbian, yes.

I wonder what would have happened in football had Yugoslavia not fragmented. Or the USSR. Or if the UK had one combined team. I wish I had Dr. Farnsworth's 'What If?' Machine. <_<
