"Chills" at concerts.

All 3 times I saw Green Day, particularly when they come onto the stage, when they play Jesus of Suburbia and Minority and when Billie plays Good Riddance solo.

The back to back Alkaline Trio shows I went to in April. Goddamnit played in full, followed by amazing solo acoustic sets from both Matt and Dan

A couple years ago I saw Staind, where they played their entire set in the pouring rain. Awesomeness. Other than that, seeing the Dropkick Murphys was incredible as well, it was a couple days before halloween and they had a huge setlist. One of the reasons that I am a fan of them and am going to try to get to their St. Patrick's day concert.

When Meat Loaf came back and as an encore played (okay it was always planned to happen, but still): I Would Do Anything For Love, & Bat Out Of Hell. And even though it was 2004, he still had the knockout killer voice. All through this I was getting chills down my spine.

Happened this summer at a Marduk gig. They fired up "Panzer Division Marduk" out of nowhere, stormed through it with vengeance, and then when the song died down the air raid sample intro for "Baptism By Fire" began to play over the speakers. I was in chills the whole time while the band prepared on the stage, then Mortuus reached for the mic and yelled out "BAPTISM! BY! FIRE!"... And then they went and annihilated everything. It was very fucking awesome because IMO those two are the best tracks of their best album, and played back-to-back like on the record made them sound even more amazing.

I didn't think the Metallica set could get any better, playing all of Master of Puppets in a row.. then they played Die Die My Darling. I've never marked so hard in my life. In fact, fuck it. I'm going to go and buy that set now.

I twinged my shoulder punching the air so hard! \m/ :P

Foo Fighters

Standing front row, center at CIA in Cardiff with a giant curtain up, the lights going out and then just hearing the opening riff of 'One By One' playing and then the song kicking in with this 30ft curtain dropping to reveal Grohl and Co. rocking out, balls to the wall.

Andrew WK

Climbing onstage and singing 'We Want Fun' at the top of my lungs with my arm wrapped around the legend himself Andrew WK. And then spending the majority of the show just headbanging and going apeshit on stage for their set.

Gratitude

On the last night of our tour with them, their lead singer, Jonah Matranga, a musical idol of mine jumping into an acapella version of one of my bands songs without even telling us he was going to do it. And then being doing vocals with Gratitude during their Wildhearts cover of "You've Gotta Get Through, What You Gotta Go Through".

Down

Hearing 'New Orleans Is A Dying Whore' at 10am on a red hot morning in Donnington this summer.

The Divine Comedy/Cursive/Mad Capsule Markets

Just being able to watch an amazing bands live.

I haven't seen any "huge" musical acts, but everyone I see is a huge deal to me...

As mentioned by alot of people, Green Day.

Seeing Streetlight Manifesto twice was awesome.

When Against Me! played my two favorite songs of theirs in a row (You Look Like I Need a Drink and Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists) with me pressed against the barricade.

When the Bouncing Souls asked the crowd what they should play, and me and my 2 friends (against the barricade, once again) yelled "Manthem" and they played it.

When I saw Weezer and The Pixies.

The first time I saw Rob Zombie (Second time wasn't too good).

When I won 2 $60 tickets to see Mike Doughty(!) open for The Barenaked Ladies. I was a huge fan of Soul Coughing and Mike'd solo work for 6 years, and I've wanted to see him perform for a long time and whenever he came around here, something happened and I wasn't able to go. I won tickets through the Mike Doughty e-mail list and all I had to do at the conert was collect e-mails for the mailing list, and I also got to meet Mike after his set and give him the e-mails I collected.

But, a chill that lasted for about 50 minutes was when I finally saw Boy Hits Car in concert. They released a new CD called "The Passage" (which you should check out, it's amazing), and then kind of broke up. They got back together and went on a tour opening for Flyleaf (which they sound nothing like), and they had a few days off, so they sent out a message showing the days off they had and told people to tell them where they should play solo shows. I immediately suggested Madison, WI and they ended up playing there. They played nearly all of my favorite songs, and me and a bunch of friends got to go on stage with them during a song. It wasn't a huge crowd, but they played like it was. I got to meet them afterwards and talked to the singer for a long time. I sweated so much at the show, I drank 4 bottles of water afterwards. Best concert I've ever been to.

Guest Ringley Whitford

Seeing Death Cab For Cutie was the closest I got the being in absolute 'awe' when seeing a band, but there's a few moments when my hairs have really stood up on my neck. At DCFC it'd be when they busted out "Company Calls" (The first chorus I was so excited, class song), "Brothers On A Hotel Bed" and of course "The Sound of Settling"

- The New Pornographers, during the Hey-Ya part in the "Bleeding Heart Show"
That part gives me chills just listening to it on CD. Live it'd probably kill me, or something equally awesome.

Three Chemical Brothers moments.

1) When they came on stage and launched into an EPIC rendition of "Music Response" to start with...build, build, build, build, build.....hang............EXPLOSION OF SOUND!

2) The very opening strain of "Hey Boy, Hey Girl". The crowd erupted.

3) The next biggest crowd response was for "Block Rockin' Beats" which was also magical.

The next biggest musical moments for me was seeing Muse supporting Ash when they kicked into "Muscle Museum". Lush.

Oher than that it's Polysics, either when a recorder made an appearance for I My Me Mine, or my first introduction to the track "Lookin' Lookin' Gaa".

The Who

Pete Townshend saying "we wanna know who you are...." and then launching straight into "Who Are You?" was one of the most amazing moments of my life. 15,000 people bouncing along, awesome.

Them going off stage only to come back on and go straight into "Pinball Wizard" with everyone singing along.

Placebo

Any time they play either "Come Home" or "Nancy Boy" gives me the chills.

Arctic Monkeys

Seeing them run through "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" in order and basically rocking hard.

Richard Ashcroft

Bittersweet Symphony. 'Nuff said.

Ocean Colour Scene

Playing "The Day We Caught The Train" as part of an acoustic set and everyone singing along.

The Spinto Band

Taking a tent full of speculative slighty drunk people and making them dance along madly to "Did I Tell You"

That's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

The Slipknot concert when everybody in the arena was singing along to "Surfacing" and then earlier on when they had everybody in the arena sit down and then jump when he said it. Corey Taylor may not be everybody's favorite vocalist and Slipknot may be hated by many, but they put on a very good live show.

Seeing Godsmack live because they're awesome live.

Seeing Disturbed again this past Friday in the same place where I first saw them, which was my first concert ever and just seeing how much they've changed. Everything about their shows in arenas just seems so big and epic that it's good.

Mine would have to be when I saw Guns N' Roses at Madison Square Garden last month. By far, a fucking awesome show. Everything about the show was great. Even the opening acts (Sebastian Bach and Papa Roach) were great. The best part was during "November Rain" when golden sparks came down from the ceiling while Axl was playing piano. Whether you like them or not, you've got to admit GN'R puts on one hell of a show.
