I agree it came off as unprofessional and perhaps I should have waited to cool down first, before corpse posting. That said, I still disagree with everything DMN has used to prove his point but again, I will say no more.

Despite the way things have started, I feel the game has potential and I'm leaning towards making it a theme.

Not just simply resurrecting the theme but actually something more like surviving characters continue on into the next game(with obvious changes made to roles)

Just an idea that's floating around in my head.

I'm more than willing to admit when I've played like shit. The only time I even get closed to being like that is when I get caught out by luck (say, an investigation or something), or I get screwed by a game mechanic, which is just frustration. Oh, and lie detectors, cuz fuck those.

I'm not perfect, and, of course, I have my tells, as we all do. If I play like shit, I admit it, see LBCM. I don't blame people for lynching me when there is perfectly good reason to do so.

An investigation isn't luck, but lie detection where you can change the post you're detecting can fuck right off and die. The only thing worse than that is "claim or die!" games without safeclaims.

Also, the only time I ever seem to be investigated is when I'm alive after a certain number of days. When people call me suspicious, that's the only reason I accept for their suspicion. I'm fucking exemplary at playing like a townie as scum

There are investigations where the investigator targeted you because of a read, that's not luck. Then, there are investigations where you're playing a good game, staying down, doing a good job of looking town, and you get targeted randomly, or redirected, or whatever. Those are luck.

Redirects I can understand, but you have to realize that certain players are always going to get investigated. If you aren't lousy at the game and live beyond a day or two, it doesn't matter if you're playing a great scum game because you're either going to get investigated, NK'd or daykilled because of reputation. Shitty players tend to coast through to the end and are allowed to make mistakes that would get you lynched. The back half of Batman was just terrible luck, but those instances are pretty rare.

I was going to say, the only time I've felt frustrated by a loss was Batman, which is still one of my favourite games I've played in. That really was down to luck and Be having a really good game.

How long does it take you to write up roles, get everything in place for a Mafia these days? I've found the creation of games very time consuming and therefore I lose the excitement of doing the game in the first place. How do you get round this?

That was actually key to the idea of the mafia Ill be running. Since it only had a few roles and no powers, it takes zero effort at all other than picking a number of players.

How long does it take you to write up roles, get everything in place for a Mafia these days? I've found the creation of games very time consuming and therefore I lose the excitement of doing the game in the first place. How do you get round this?

I often spend weeks tweaking abilities and roles to both match each other (assuming there's a theme) and the subsequent balancing.

I always intend to write a fair amount in the role PM's, but usually get bored part way through. Best thing I've found is to only do a few at a time.

The part that usually takes the most of my time is the second-guessing of whether I've overpowered a scum and/or cult group or not, and making the same tweak back and forth fifty times over.

Beyond that, being able to think of/remember enough different role types takes me a while. I basically end up going into several old massive games (e.g. most of RW's) looking for role ideas. Whereupon I remember really basic roles that I had just completely forgotten about ("Oh yeeeah, a jailer!" etc.).

Reading back through old role PMs, I'm still bitter about not getting to do anything in Zan's Arkham Mafia. I had a neat role and it was a game themed around Lovecraft and I die in the first night. :@
