PREDICTION CONTEST TIME!

Yes, folks, it's on On ON! The winner gets to help book Unforgiven. I mean, not as much as maybe he'd like, but he gets the honor anyway. Okay, while only the predictions are a required element for each match, with each one I'd like to hear (again, if you want; this is a survey) the following extra info:

* Who should, logically, win; Edge and Jericho need to win their matches, partly due to Toronto, partly for a new direction. Matt Hardy should win too, due to a lack of hype for any of his challengers

* Who you are rooting for; Nowinski over Molly and the Raw All Star Team

* How well the match has been built; Jericho/Rhyno and the WWE Tag Title Match have been top draw, Jericho especially being the underdog. I'm looking forward to Sting and Orton

* How much of an asset/liability it is to SummerSlam; All matches have been built for a while and need to be on Summerslam, with the exceptions of the US Title Match and maybe the World Tag Team Title Match

* How much of a chance it has to be the match we remember. I can see the 2 World Title Matches, the All star match and Orton/Sting being memorable

But all you need is a prediction. For fun, I'll include some odds. They're the odds that the match will have the highest EWR (Dames) star rating. And now...

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho--The underdog role's been pushed really hard...but then, so has Rhyno's killer soulless monster role...I'm confused. I'll call Rhyno a transitional champ, but I'm not real sure at all.

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge--It's gonna take a talented sumbitch to end the Guerrero reign...maybe someone with Olympic-sized talent.

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski--I agree with TheAce, a 1-month reign after all Molly's buildup would seem a bit anticlimactic...I see Molly in a DQ and Nowinski continues terrorizing the Divas, maybe to win the gold at Unforgiven.

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan--Just to rub it in Kurt's face.

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane--Just for the "You sonofabitch, I can't believe I have to count for you to win" face from Benoit...that and I still have a hard time buying Mondo in WWE.

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar--There's got to be bigger things for Kurt and Brock to do...maybe Eric influences this one.

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton--Yeah, I'll go with Orton here...don't see why Harris would accompany Sting to the ring if not for a turn.

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble--Another tossup, but I see Heyman being the difference.

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin--Team Raw just seems much more likely to implode.

TIEBREAKERS:

1. Which match will open the show? World Tag Title Match

2. Who will be the special surprise appearance I said would occur? Stephanie McMahon?

3. There will be one swerve at SummerSlam. What? I'll go with Harris turning on Sting.

4. What individual will score the pin in the All-Star match? RVD...maybe Piper hands him a title shot afterwards.

5. Will anyone get at least 8 of 9 matches correct? No.

* Who should, logically, win; Jericho for the fact that if Rhyno wins it'll be akin to HH going over Goldberg last year at Summer Slam., and Matt hardy due to as Jam put it theres too little build up for anyone but hurricane to take the belt from Matt

* Who you are rooting for; Molly, Jericho , and Eddie even though I think eddie will lose.

* How well the match has been built; Jericho/Rhyno and Sting vs. Orton have had the best build up.

* How much of an asset/liability it is to SummerSlam; Summer slam has had the perfect build up. Now to deliver.

* How much of a chance it has to be the match we remember. I can Picture jericho winning the belt being a moment everyone will remember as well as Benoit turning Heel and joining Evolution <_<

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho - Everything that Jericho touches turns to gold at this moment in time and him winning the strap from Rhyno would be the perfect outcome for Jericho's comeback, Rhyno will push Jericho to the end but I see the Title changing hands.

1. Jericho

2. Jericho

3. Dragged a little recently but still probably the strongest build up of all the matches

4. Will rightly Main Event

5. 9/10

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge - Even though IMO I think your handling of Eddie's reign as Champ hasn't been your strongest, I still feel that Eddie has to retain for me to have faith in your SD booking. Basically Dukes I think watching Edge is like watching paint dry - it's boring - and you haven't done anything to differ him from Edge pre-SS in real life, therefore unless we see a heel turn and refresh of character then the Title should go nowhere.

1. Either could

2. Eddie

3. Edge won a Battle Royale, need I say more...

4. I could think of a different contender

5. 3/10 (Unless Edge finds his balls and turns heel)

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski - Molly's current storyline is so near closure that she no longer needs the strap, pushing Nowinski to IC level would be a good move on your part to complete the storyline as I can see Nowinski start to beat down Molly, until Christian of all people saves her and BAM...INSTA FEUD!

1. Nowinski

2. Nowinski

3. Off the back of Molly-Christian so not too badly

4. Nowinski is a good choice to contend

5. 5/10

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan - Just like Vince McMahon you have continued to push a lumbering oaf (true he is better than most it seems by your write-ups) and I don't see it quite ending yet. Granted, RTC do need some gold or they are quickly going to lose all heat they still possess, plus giving Bull the US isn't the worst idea in the world..you could give it to Konnan! *shudders*

1. Hardy or Buchanan

2. Angle

3. The Medal Battle Royale was a good idea

4. Take away Konnan and I wouldn't have half the problems I have with it

5. 3/10

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane - Dukes maybe I'm a mind reader but why do I think you are going to have Benoit join Evolution?! True Benoit is at his greatest as a callous heel but he should be leading a stable, not joining one. Regardless Mondo & Dreamer are losing their Titles whether it be by Benoit turning or not...

1. Batista & Michael Shane

2. Benoit :shifty:

3. Mondo & Dreamer are getting stale so Evolution getting some gold isn't the worst thing to happen

4. Liability that Mondo could kill someone with those M-Bison's

5. 2/10

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar - Angle & Brock - two former World Champions going for the Tag Team Titles. Now read that back and what do you think - WTF?! But Dukes all credit to you I like the idea of the two teaming and the build up against Kidman/Rey has been quite good, Brock getting injured kept the storyline going to the blow-off at SS and hopefully they won't be too much of a styles clash and we get the best match of the night!

1. Either could

2. Both to a degree

3. Strongly

4. Will be the best in-ring all night

5. 8/10

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton - The slow burning feud finally ends and hopefully it will end correctly with Orton's hand raised. If you play you hand well Dukes then Orton-Jericho is a feud that I would enjoy and you could stretch out to possibly Survivor Series. Anyways, Sting will have the match won but the ref's KO'd or something, then something has to happen with Chris Harris leaving Orton the winner.

1. Orton

2. Orton

3. The signing of Harris did breathe life into the feud

4. Should be one of the better matches

5. 6/10

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble - Heyman says it best...Noble may sneak a fall but he will not defeat Ultimo twice in the same night! An awesome match is sure to be the conclusion but I do think that Ultimo will get the win and move on to a fresh feud with maybe a hyped MFer?

1. Ultimo

2. Either would be cool

3. Strongly for a Cruiser match

4. Will hopefully shine in-ring

5. 5/10

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin -

It's the egoes that Raw possess that make me think Smackdown will win, you have a clear cut clash on Raw, but not so much on SD.

1. Either

2. SD!

3. As best as possible

4. If there was one last year, then there should be one this year (I didn't start reading until post WM XX)

5. 6/10

TIEBREAKERS:

1. Which match will open the show? US Title Match

2. Who will be the special surprise appearance I said would occur? The Rock

3. There will be one swerve at SummerSlam. What? Benoit turns heel

4. What individual will score the pin in the All-Star match? RVD

5. Will anyone get at least 8 of 9 matches correct? In a perfect world me...but I doubt it!

Firstly - Damn Dukes, your prediction contests slash surveys are getting out of hand! Put a reign on those things, daddio!

That said..

SUMMERSLAM

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho

Jericho's been built well, and Canada, man. It would be the bigger of the two victories - and has time has shown, Edge really isn't all that over in Toronto, no matter how much they want us to believe it.

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge

I don't see both titles changing hands - and this one would make more sense to keep on the current champion.

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski

Although I'm quickly tiring of Molly, and Nowinski's "I hate women" thing reminds me of Jeff Jarrett's run in .. 1999[?], which was gold, I'm banking that Molly's run isn't nearly over yet.

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan

Kurt Angle isn't the only American hero! I'd guess Hardy and Konnan will keep each other occupied, so Angle will get the Slam on Buchanan or something.

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane

I can only hope that Mondo and Dreamer finally die, and take the Maximos with them.

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar

Angle's tag title win is overshadowed when Eric wins the US Title later in the show, continuing that feud further.

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton

Faces must go over MY ASS. Go Orton.

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Dragon and Tajiri would work better as a permanent team.

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin

No reason why.

TIEBREAKERS:

1. Which match will open the show? I'd say one of the Tag Title matches. I'd personally go with the SD Tag Title match to get the crowd pumping.

2. Who will be the special surprise appearance I said would occur? Limp Bizkit plays Molly to the ring or something?

3. There will be one swerve at SummerSlam. What? Bret Hart returns and wins the Cruiserweight Title by hitting Jamie Noble with a Sharp Shooting Star Press.

4. What individual will score the pin in the All-Star match? Triple H

5. Will anyone get at least 8 of 9 matches correct? No.

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho - Not a surprise, Jericho wins or I'll burn down the Air Canada Centre personally.

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge - Eddie wins with a little Lie, Cheat, and STEAL~.

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski - Molly wins the match by DQ after Nowinski goes just a tad crazy.

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan - Konnan's been stepping it up lately, and it wouldn't be the first time someone stuck the US title on him outta nowhere. :shifty:

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane - Dave SMASH Benoit, second ref counts the three

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar - The tag belts are too good for Brock and Kurt, plus a win over one of them could make Kidman or Rey legit main event talent.

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton - Harris doesn't turn until *after* the match.

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble - Dragon could split off from Tajiri and Colt, and the snowflakes wouldn't stop falling for a year in the CW division.

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin

- It's only fair, Smackdown had the Great American Bash. That and Havoc is best known for Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal - and Bisch still has the Wheel of Death in storage.

1. US title match

2. Vince McMahon DAMNIT!

3. Harris waits until after the match to turn on the Stinger.

4. Kane pins Piper.

5. Probably not.

- The SmarK RAW Rant for Aug. 09 / 04.

- Live from Cleveland, OH.

- Your hosts are Jim Ross and DDP.

- RNN time! He promises that at SummerSlam, there will be a new hero in town, and it won't be some washed-up WCW guy. Or Chris Jericho, either. Ouch. His guest is Christopher Nowinski. We go straight to the Cleveland jokes ("I can see why a Modell citizen would want to skip town" gets serious heel heat, though I don't know why) before discussing SummerSlam. Nowinski shows us a counter on the OrTron 6789: it has Molly's face and is on 14:59. Clever. Nowinski then promises he will use brains, not brawn, to defeat Molly, as Christian tried brawn and failed miserably. Man, poor guy can't get love on either side of the aisle. Nowinski wishes Orton good luck against Sting and company tonight, and again on Sunday, and the two build each other up. Nothing unusual, and probably a mis-step by the usually solid Nowinski.

- Kane again. When he unmasked, there was one man who tried to stop him: RVD. Now they meet again, and the fire will consume Van Dam. There is no one who can stop him... and Shawn Michaels appears to try to calm Kane down. "This isn't about you," he says. Yeah, stop hogging Shawn's spotlight! He appeals to Kane's sense of pride and asks him to work together "just once" for RAW's sake. Kane makes it clear he's a loner and walks off. Okay then.

- In the ring, Lance Storm asks if we can be serious for a moment. Storm with Dawn Marie by his side is so right. Apparently, the people in charge have left the best wrestler off of SummerSlam. No they haven't, Lance -- he's just a referee. Oh, wait, you meant you. Lance asks for a chance to earn his way onto the team and demands that someone step up and face him. And the reply is...

- Lance Storm v. Shawn Michaels. Storm blitzes Michaels off the bat with CANADIAN VIOLENCE as he scores a back elbow and goes to work on Michaels' leg. He Banzai drops the leg on the ropes, but Shawn trips Storm and does some ground and pound. Storm with a dropkick, then a missile dropkick for two. Michaels gets a German suplex for two, then goes up top. Flying elbow misses, and Storm tries a spinning toe hold. Michaels rolls him up for two. Test emerges from the back as Michaels gets tossed out, skins the cat back in, and scores a flying jalapeno as Storm turns around. Brilliant. Storm reverses a whip, Michaels slams on the brakes, and both men superkick each other. But since Michaels uses it as a primary finisher and Storm as a secondary finisher, HBK crawls over and gets the pin at 4:25. Dammit -- why can't these guys get 10 more minutes? ** Test races in, but Michaels tries to take care of him with a dropkick. The double-team follows until Kane emerges from the back to scare everyone off.

- The tag champs talk strategy. Dreamer's advice: don't worry about Benoit. Treat him as a non-factor, he sez. Mondo wants to show Batista what he's made of, but Dreamer insists they try to win, not just retain. Stacy tells the boys to let her worry about Evolution's friends, and they can keep the belts. Sounds like a plan.

- Intercontinental Title: Molly Holly v. Sylvain Grenier. You know, between Darren Matthews and Pat Patterson, these two could probably form a support group. Grenier backs Molly into the corner, but Molly ducks and lands some kidney shots. Grenier reverses the whip, but a blind charge misses and Molly gets a German suplex for two. Wow, has Nora been hitting the weight room? Spinning arm wrenches and an armbar follow, but Grenier lifts Molly into the corner and punches away. Suplex gets two. A slam and kneedrop get two. Grenier HITS THE CHINLOCK, but Molly fights her way out and gets a facejam. To the top, but Grenier follows to try a superplex. Molly sandbags it and lands on top for two. Grenier goes for a clothesline, but Molly sends him into the corner and sets up Shattered Dreams. The ref stops it, but shenanigans with the French flag backfire and Molly gets the pin at 6:20. That's nice. 3/4*

- Coach is in the parking lot as a Beamer pulls in. The girl from last week's video is behind the wheel, introducing herself as Valerie. She does an entire promo in Valley talk about how the wrestlers on RAW may be good, but they're "like so totally stale". I love shoot comments that aren't meant to be shoot comments. She promises a breath of fresh air -- "Chanel-scented, natch" -- to clean out the superstars. "Now where's my Evian?" Well, she has the California b*tch role down pat, that's for sure.

- Christian and Chynna Doll v. Triple H and Tracy. HHH holds up a "Get Well Trish" sign, indicating that maybe they'll continue the Hunter/Trish relationship when she comes back from injury. Faces clean house to start as Tracy dropkicks Chynna and Hunter clubs away on Christian. On the outside, the men hit various STEEL objects, while back in the ring, Tracy goes for a handspring elbow on Chynna and is caught and tossed over the ropes. Chynna presses her back into the ring while HHH hiptosses Christian onto the steps. In the ring, Chynna gets a press slam on Tracy for two as she plays YOUR chick-in-peril. Wait wait wait -- you mean HHH can't even play Ricky Morton for a GIRL? Chynna scores an elbowsmash on Tracy, stomping away before going to a facelock. Christian refuses to tag in on Tracy, so Chynna gets a suplex for two. Drop sleeper gets two. C'mon, Christian, show some pride in your work -- or at least get the crap out of the ring! Tracy ducks a blind charge and scores a rana, hot tag HHH. Christian is in as well, and the men slug it out. Chynna goes flying out of the ring while HHH USES THE KNEE~! on Christian. Tracy with Pie in the Sky on Christian, but he catches it into a powerbomb. Chynna returns and covers for the pin at 8:29. Blah. 3/4*

- And now, from the home office in Wahoo, Nebraska and set to one of the two theme songs of SummerSlam, "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin DeGraw, here's the RAW side of the show!

* World Title: Rhyno v. Chris Jericho

* Intercontinental Title: Molly Holly v. Christopher Nowinski

* World Tag Team Titles: Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer v. Batista and Michael Shane (some guy as referee)

* Sting v. Randy Orton

* Team RAW: Bischoff, HHH, HBK, Kane, Christian

- Well, the RAW team ought to be a fun car wreck to watch. Sting/Orton is close to played, and unless they end in cleanly or go to a gimmick match, they've milked that cow for all it's worth. Nowinski should win the I-C title, although Molly hasn't exactly lost the belt's luster. And we all know Jericho's winning, right?

- Main event: Rhyno, Randy Orton, Batista, and Michael Shane v. Chris Jericho, Sting, Nick Mondo, and Tommy Dreamer. Chris Benoit joins commentary and adds nothing of note. Huge brawl to start, of course, with Mondo flying onto the heels with help from Sting and Dreamer. Jericho adds a quebrada of his own as the crowd goes nuts. In the ring, Sting headbutts Orton down and drops an elbow on him for two. Dreamer with a DDT on Shane, while Jericho gets the springboard dropkick on Batista. Sting and Jericho collide doing alternate things, allowing Orton to clothesline Sting into the Ricky Morton role. Huh. Rhyno enters with a spinebuster for two as we take a break. We return with Shane and Batista getting a Doomsday Device on Sting for two. Orton gets Play of the Day on Sting for two. Rhyno with a press slam onto Orton's knee, and Batista drops a knee onto Sting's throat. Shane, of course, covers for two. Rhyno and Batista hold Sting open off the ground as Shane splashes his gut for two. Neat triple-team. Orton misses an RKO and backs into a Stinger Splash for the double KO. Rhyno cuts the tag off, but Sting throws him into a neutral corner and gets the hot tag to Jericho. Faceplant for Batista, enzuigiri for Orton, and Lionsault on Shane (who was tripped by Mondo). Rhyno breaks up the cover and all heck breaks loose. Sting with a Stinger splash and Sharpshooter on Orton, but Batista saves and gets the Demon Bomb. Mondo scores M.Bison on Batista, but is mowed down by a GOAR GOAR GOAR from Rhyno, who backs into a rollup from Jericho for two. Shane with the Picture Perfect Elbow on Mondo, Sting saves. RKO by Orton on Dreamer, Jericho saves. Finally, people start flying out of the ring and Rhyno is left to GOAR GOAR GOAR Jericho for the pin at 24:31. Decent 8-man, somewhat ruined by the chaos at the end. **1/4

The Bottom Line:

HERE WE GO! Six days and counting until Jericho becomes champion again and takes his place where he belongs. In many ways this is my dream show -- Jericho in the main event and HHH in a throwaway match -- and I wouldn't have it any other way. Plus, there's a SmackDown! still to come. Yee haw.

Until next time, BREAK THE WALLS DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!

Edge went through 39 other guys to win his reserved seat at SummerSlam, but Brock Lesnar was not one of them. Tonight, those two will meet with nothing but pride on the line. It was during a match with Brock that Edge was injured by Bull Buchanan, but with no reason to fear Bull, will we have a fair result?

Roddy Piper wants time to speak. He says he has a final message for Eric Bischoff regarding the All-Star Match at SummerSlam. What could it be? And will we be able to air it? Tune in with us as Piper speaks his mind -- always worth an adventure or two!

Piper has seen the discord on the RAW team and doesn't want his side to fall apart. As a result, he's asked his men to go at it as a team in an eight-man tag! Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, and Shelton Benjamin will get a warmup match -- but the opposition consists of a united group in Mattitude! Can the US Champion pull off the upset entering his defense in a Four Corners Elimination Match on Sunday?

SUMMERSLAM

Toronto, Ontario

August 15, 2004

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho

Jericho has to win here. I love the crazy Rhyno stuff, but Jericho is just GOLD. And well, I Love Goooold.

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge

Boo Edge. I don't like him in real life and I don't like him here. He won a battle royal, so he can't be considered a favorite to win here. Maybe after some more build up, but Edge definately isn't the guy to take the title off of Eddie.

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski

Molly will retain the title in someway here. I don't think it makes sense to have her drop it to Nowinski this early, so maybe the feud will continue after Summerslam.

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan

This is the toughest match to call. I like Matt, but I really don't think he can walk out the champion. But then there is the problem of who will do it? I see Eric being screwed by Kurt to start a longer Kurt/Eric feud, and I don't think Bull is ready yet. That is why I see Konnan taking the belt from Matt.

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane

Dreamer and Mondo have been very overplayed, and are beginning to turn stale. Maybe dropping the titles to Evolution will enable them to do something fresh. Also, Benoit will play a big role here, just not sure if he will turn or not.

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar

I'd really like to see Angle and Lesnar win, but I think one of them will be Eddie's next opponent. Therefore I see Eric getting some revenge for an early attack on him which costs him the US Title.

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton

Chris Harris needs something to do. The Sting/Orton feud is over. So it makes perfect sense to have Harris turn on Sting and begin a Harris/Sting feud. I see Harris swerving his "friend" and joining up with Orton to give him the W.

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble

This was another tough match to call, but maybe I see an accidental Heyman interference in this. I think that after the two men split the first two falls, Heyman accidentally costs Ultimo the match.

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin

The whole "raw team in turmoil" thing just makes it easier to pick them. It seems that it is built that they are destined to lose, but I see Bischoff pinning Piper in the end to continue his heelish behavior towards Piper.

TIEBREAKERS:

1. Which match will open the show? Raw Tag Title Match

2. Who will be the special surprise appearance I said would occur? Vince McMahon (or Lance Storm).

3. There will be one swerve at SummerSlam. What? Chris Harris turns on Sting.

4. What individual will score the pin in the All-Star match? Eric Bischoff over Piper

5. Will anyone get at least 8 of 9 matches correct? No.

Sorry, guys. I'm so geeked up over SummerSlam that I can't bring myself to even rant on SmackDown! It was a full-court press hype show, so really, you didn't miss anything. Here were the match results, though...

Eric Angle and Konnan d. Bull Buchanan and Sean Morley when Eric pinned Morley (*1/2 rating)

Billy Kidman d. Mike Barton (**)

Team SmackDown! d. Mattitude Deluxe when Taker pinned Rogers (*1/2)

Eddie Guerrero and Hurricane d. Los Maximos when Eddie pinned Joel (**1/4)

Edge and Brock Lesnar went to a 20-minute draw, then another 5 minutes without a winner, then another 5 during which a huge brawl broke out and a no contest was declared (****1/4)

Anyway, sorry for the lethargy. I'll make up for it tonight with a full report on HeAT and a complete write-up of SummerSlam itself.

World Heavyweight Title Match

Rhyno © vs. Chris Jericho

Logic says: Jericho. He came back from the injury, and getting to the top of the Raw mountain would be a logical way to end his run.

Rooting for: Rhyno. Beating Jericho after he came back from his injury would put Rhyno over as the badass monster that he's been built as.

Build up: Good build up over the first few weeks, but it's been a little dull the past while.

Asset?: Definate asset. The talented underdog vs the destroying monster is always good.

Memorable?: Yes.

WWE Heavyweight Title Match

Eddie Guerrero © vs. Edge

Logic says: Eddy. Why would one side have to change it's titles? It doesn't, and there's no reason for Eddy to lose.

Rooting for: Eddy. Edge is good when only in sight of Christian.

Build up: As good as possible with Edge involved.

Asset?: Could be better, but it could be a LOT worse, too.

Memorable?: Probably, yes.

Intercontinental Title Match

Molly Holly © vs. Chris Nowinski

Logic says: Nowinski. The title being on Molly, no matter how over she is, isn't a good thing.

Rooting for: Molly. I like Molly as she is on WWE TV, let alone with the amazing buildup for her that you've provided here. I'm just a mark for Molly.

Build up: Not really, compared to Molly/Christian. This is more like an aftermath to that.

Asset?: Sure. Nowinski is a good challenger, however....

Memorable?: Not really. It's no "huge victory" like it was for Molly to go over Christian.

WWE United States Title Elimination Match

Matt Hardy © vs. Konnan vs. Eric Angle vs. Bull Buchanan

Logic says: Matt. None of the others are really good enough to have good matches with the US title around their waist.

Rooting for: Matt. See above.

Build up: Fair. It hasn't sucked, but it could have been worse.

Asset?: Well, it gets the title on the PPV. That's always nice.

Memorable?: Nope. Unless there's gonna be a HUGE SWERVE, it's just a standard four-way elimination match.

World Tag Team Title Match (Special Referee: Chris Benoit)

Nick Mondo and Tommy Dreamer © vs. Batista and Michael Shane

Logic says: Mondo and Dreamer. Logically, there should be nothing keeping them from retaining the titles with Benoit as the referee.

Rooting for: Mondo and Dreamer. If there's one thing Dukes has been good for, is giving us the unexpected. And if we're all assuming Benoit will turn, then he won't be turning.

Build up: Save for Benoit being added, there's not TOO much behind it. So not a good buildup.

Asset?: I wouldn't take it off, but it's not a major asset either.

Memorable?: If Benoit turns heel, then yes. If not, then no.

WWE Tag Team Title Match

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio © vs. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar

Logic says: Angle and Lesnar. They're bigger, stronger, and more rounded in their attack than the Animals.

Rooting for: Kidman and Rey. Angle and Lesnar have nothing to gain by winning the Tag titles from two guys who are.

Build up: Good, what with the Animals attacking Lesnar.

Asset?: I'd say a liability here, myself. There's really nothing to gain anywhere. The Animals are over enough to not get any major rub from TA, and TA won't gain anything by beating the Animals.

Memorable?: Not unless there's a major turn. So I'd say no.

Grudge Match

Sting (w/Chris Harris) vs. Randy Orton

Logic says: Orton. He's younger and seemingly has to go over Sting to continue being the Legend Killer.

Rooting for: Sting. With Flair not around, then someone has to stop Orton's legend killing eventually, and what better place than here?

Build up: Good. They've been pretty much back and forth the whole time.

Asset?: Not really.

Memorable?: No.

2 out of 3 falls for the Vacant WWE Cruiserweight Title

Ultimo Dragon vs. Jamie Noble

Logic says: Ultimo. Paul Heyman said so.

Rooting for: Ultimo. Who am I go to against Paul Heyman?

Build up: Good. They hounded one another until there is no better way to end it all than with a big match.

Asset?: Yes. I can't think of many better to give two/three matches to.

Memorable?: Yes. I say this'll be the Match(es) of the Night.

WWE All-Star Match

RAW: Eric Bischoff, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kane, Christian

SD!: Roddy Piper, Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin

Logic says: Raw. They've been built as a team that can't play well with one another, and logic says that's who bands together at the last instant to get the win.

Rooting for: Raw. Why? Because of logic.

Build up: As good as an interpromotional match can be.

Asset?: The question is more "Can WGTT, RVD, and Christian carry all the other dead weight?" I think they can.

Memorable?: Short-term, yes; thanks to the PPV stipulation. Long-term, no.

TIEBREAKERS:

1. Which match will open the show? US title

2. Who will be the special surprise appearance I said would occur? Bret Hart. Hey, it is in Canada!

3. There will be one swerve at SummerSlam. What? A turn. Probably Benoit, but I'm gonna say Eric Angle.

4. What individual will score the pin in the All-Star match? Bischoff.

5. Will anyone get at least 8 of 9 matches correct? Sure.
