Formula One 2009

Maybe it was due to the fact that he continued to race on with damage to the car as well as making race conditions more difficult by spreading debris all over the track. Can't really blame him entirely for the crash though, it was 50/50 and there wasn't alot either driver could do about it.

But, with only three laps remaining, the Red Bull driver was slow through the first two corners, allowing Kubica to get alongside on the outside on Turn Three.

In the key part of the incident, which race stewards deemed to be the German's fault, the Red Bull's front wheel tagged the rear wheel of the BMW after the Pole had given Vettel room.

The result was that both cars tipped into a spin, damaging their front wings before they each crashed further around the lap.

And Vettel - a former BMW driver - continued on the track with one front wheel hanging off his car in a doomed attempt to stay in the race, earning Red Bull a fine in the process.

<_<

You can kind of see why he tried to hold it though. After following Jenson for 55 laps, I'd be pretty damn annoyed to lose second place 3 laps from the end.

What do people think to the idea of a female driver on the grid again? There's been rumours for a while that Danicka Patrick from the IndyCar series may be signed up for the USGP team if they secure a slot in the Championship next season, and now rumours have started concerning Susie Stoddart, who was a guest of Ron Dennis' in Melbourne.

She doesn't look like your typical F1 driver, does she?

She can shift my gear stick any day.

<insert more innuendo here, etc.>

I think she's won a couple of races, but no major success or anything.

I've no idea how good Susie Stoddart is either, I know she was in that german cars series the DTM, which guys like Ralf Schumacher and Jean Alesi have been in, but she's racing in something else now.

Hamilton excluded from Australian results, Trulli regains third

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has been disqualified from last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix after a second stewards’ investigation on Thursday decided both he and his team had provided ‘misleading' evidence during a hearing held after the Melbourne race.

Hamilton crossed the finish line in Australia in fourth, but was subsequently promoted to third after Toyota’s Jarno Trulli was handed a 25-second time penalty for passing his McLaren under the safety car during the race’s closing laps.

Stewards, however, decided to reinvestigate the incident after fresh evidence came to light and convened a second meeting in Sepang. After the hearing, the stewards issued the following statement:

“The Stewards having considered the new elements presented to them from the 2009 Australian Formula One Grand Prix, consider that driver No 1 Lewis Hamilton and the competitor Vodafone McLaren Mercedes acted in a manner prejudicial to the conduct of the event by providing evidence deliberately misleading to the Stewards at the hearing on Sunday 29th March 2009, a breach of Article 151c of the International Sporting Code.

"Under Article 158 of the International Sporting Code, the driver No 1 Lewis Hamilton and the competitor Vodafone McLaren Mercedes are excluded from the race classification for the 2009 Australian Grand Prix and the classification is amended accordingly."

In addition to Hamilton’s disqualification, Trulli’s penalty has been withdrawn and the Italian therefore regains his third place - and six world championship points.

I think the fact that both the tean and Lewis lied makes it even worse.

The above link has the radio between Lewis & the team, and they clearly say "you HAVE to let the Toyota pass".

And there's the view from Trulli's car. He slows down a lot too after they went past the transporter, and looks like he's signalling Lewis to go past him - so...really, the right decision was made. McLaren could easily have put their hands up at the start and said they let Trulli through and been happy with five points, but now they've ended up with zero (and quite rightly, too).

Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Haha. Ha.

It's stuff like this that turned me totally against McLaren-glad to see Trulli reinstated in his podium spot, and one race down and Ferrari & McLaren both already 18 points off the pace? Nice.
