To Whom It May Concern,

You are receiving this letter due to the incredible expertise you have shown in one of the following areas: Cultural Anthropology, Archeology, Economic Appraisal, Urban Exploration, Parapsychology or Paranormal Investigation. We at the Ravendale Investments believe your skills will be of great use to us in our planned investigation of Ravendale Manor.

As you may or may not be aware, Ravendale Manor was the luxurious summer home of the Ravendale Family. Located on the coast of northern Maine, the home was constructed in 1896 at the behest of J.P. Ravendale, family patriarch and wealthy industrialist. From 1896 to 1925, the manor was used exclusively as a summer home for the family, however after the several famous tragedies that befell the family, it became the permanent residence of Mr. Ravendale, where he lived until his death in 1936. In the years that followed the home was the temporary residence of several members of the Ravendale family, starting with J.P. Ravendale's grandson Kenneth Ravendale. Kenneth lived in the manor for approximately eight months, still the longest period of continued residency following J.P. Ravendale's death, until his committal to Danvers State Hospital in 1938.

The manor's last residents were Lenore Franklin, great granddaughter of J.P. Ravendale, and her husband Matthew and their young daughter Emily. The Franklins lived in the house for 3 months, but left Ravendale Manor following Emily's death at the hands of one of the groundskeepers in 1964. Since that time, the manor has been under the control of Ravendale Investments, who act on the will of the family. It is under orders from the family that we contact you today.

The family wishes to conduct the most thorough investigation of Ravendale Manor to date. Previous attempts have been made, however all were met complications and failure. The family wishes to ensure that this investigation will be successful and have sent us to assembled the largest, most skilled group of experts we can. To further ensure success, the family promises to compensate those who help complete the investigation. $1,000,000 of the Ravendale fortune will be split between whoever completes the planned 12 day investigation. You will of course be allowed to leave at any point in the investigation, but will not receive a share of the compensation if you do so.

The family's interest in the manor is two fold.

1. J.P. Ravendale was a collector of curiosities and treasures from around the world. It is believed that when he began his permanent residency at the manor, he transported most of his collection there. A few items from the collection have been recovered by family members, servants and investigators, but it is believed that over 95% of the collection is still in the manor. The few items that have been recovered have a combined value of over $850,000 from what reports we have, its believed that the entire collection could be worth over $57,000,000. The family has an obvious interest in reclaiming these items and as such, it will be the primary goal of the investigation. Once again, in an effort to ensure success, the Ravendale family has agreed to compensate those who recover the items, giving them 10% of whatever the item's value is determined to be.

2. Ravendale Manor has, most likely due to the large number of tragedies that the family has experienced, developed a reputation of being haunted. While such an idea may seem absurd to some, the Ravendale family has a great interest in the paranormal events that have been reported by residents, staff and visitors. Your secondary objective will be to investigate the validity of these claims. You will document any and all paranormal happenings during your 12 day investigation, and those who complete the investigation will be asked to report on whether or not they believe the manor to be haunted.

The Ravendale family sincerely hopes you will accept its invitation to join the investigation. They are more than happy to compensate you for your time, as it will surely result in priceless information about their beloved family home and it's history. If you are interested in joining the investigation, please respond to this letter and further details about the investigation will be sent to you.

Thank you for your time,

Michael Rayner,

Special Events Coordinator

Ravendale Investments

So, this is not going to be a typical game of mafia, but I'll elaborate more on that in the actual game thread. Its a 15 player game, so sign up and I'll narrow it down. When you sign up, please come up with a character name and pick one of the fields of expertise listed in the letter. The name you pick will be your role in the game and the field of expertise you pick may have some small impact on what happens to you in the game, depending on how it plays out. That being said, I'm not taking 15 urban explorers and may ask you to change your field. Or you can just leave a character name and I'll assign you a field.

So who's in?

Oh yeah, spot reserved for Pizzamonkey for voting for this in the poll, if he wants in.
