Not sure how many people here will be familiar with his work, I think maybe metalman, but Steve Reid has passed away. He was a brilliant jazz drummer, worked with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, James Brown, Fela Kuti and Sun Ra, which is pretty much a who's who.

That's kind of the way with jazz musicians who were never really bandleaders, though - you might not know the name, and then as soon as you're aware of them you see their name popping up all over the place. To have worked with any one of those guys is amazing.

Nice series of playlists there (65dos are on #2), good mixture of obscure indie-type stuff. And if anyone can sort me out with Minnaars's stuff, that'd be grand.

You can download their self-titled EP for free on their myspace. I bought the album (which is 8-tracks, 4 actually from that EP - but was still worth buying) a while back, I'll catch you with it sometime. :shifty:

I couldn't actually find anywhere to buy their stuff, hence turning to alternative means. But I'm thinking I may have been spelling their name wrong >_>

And if Ollie likes them, they're playing his favourite venue on the 23rd of April.

EDIT: Maybe I'm blind, but I can't find the EP on their Myspace. Love the Maybeshewill remix though.

Also Sunny Day Real Estate are doing a one off date in London on the 22nd of April...with booking and stuff (and before travel) it'll be £30...but fuck, I really want to go. :(

I only just saw this.

Hey YI!

Suck my balls.

(H)

Bah, might be seeing them in Belgium anyways, ha. :P

Also, I found out Brokencyde sold out Academy 2 earlier this week...that's fucking depressing. When shithot bands like This Is A Standoff are pulling 50-people tops and Brokencyde are getting 300. :( The alternative scene up here makes me fucking depressed.

The new National song is absolutely unbelievable. And I've been blasting "Great Britain" by Scroob and DLS all day.

The Glasto line-up was announced yesterday too. Can't be arsed to find it, but naturally it looks pretty damn good.
