Reading and Leeds Festival

If NIN are so arsey about their stage production, which seems to be more important to them than the music playing these days, they should've asked for the headline slot in the Radio 1 tent. It's big enough to handle the post-How To Destroy Angels show I imagine they're doing now (i.e, LIGHTS! And MORE LIGHTS!).

Glad to hear Biffy played a similar show to the one I saw at Sziget the other week. About time Who's Got A Match had actual fire added to it.

The band that closed the NME stage turned down the chance to play the VMA's so that they could play Reading. So

Apparently Eminem mimed for part of his set guess that will be the last time a non-rock act headlines.

Kind of. Band was live, but he had a vocal track and rapped over it. There were a couple he did entirely live, like Lose Yourself.

See, the only way I could imagine someone ever miming is if they can't wing in tune. But Eminem doesn't have to be in tune. What's the point? :/

Is it just Reading or are festival crowds generally pretty awful now?

Well, at Leeds, they all looked like Jimmy and sounded like Matt...

I didn't see any trouble personally and everyone seemed friendly enough, looking at the news reports though, there were three times as many arrests at Reading than there was at Leeds.

I think Sheffield Tramlines festival has a stronger line-up.

Okay, the headliners are fair enough (if a bit B-List compared to other mainstream festivals), but Jake Bugg as secondary headliner?! Hasn't everybody already stopped giving a shit about him and his 'written by some guy from Snow Patrol' tunes?

I don't like the festival at all, but there's plenty of people I'd love to see. Doubt I'll end up going, but it's tempting.

Wow. That is spectacularly average and bland. The only band I've not seen that I'd be interested in is Imagine Dragons and I won't lose any sleep over not seeing them.

Granted, I'm more there for the experience but I don't mind the lineup, even if there's not many big names there.

This is the first Leeds festival that I can safely say "meh" to. I have seen all the headliners at least twice before and there isn't anybody I can see lower down the bill which is making me rush to get a ticket.

I'd maybe consider a Sunday day ticket if it fills up with a bit of quality, especially since I'd be dodging the main stage for Jake Bugg and Imagine Dragons, you know, off the adverts.

I'm sort of amused that I've now heard/read someone say 'can't wait to see the Courteeners' for the first time ever.
