A potentially significant piece of news, not concerning this game but perhaps one of the teams in it. Liverpool are playing a friendly against Bayer Leverkusen today, but have not included Manchester City target Daniel Agger in their line-up.

Rodgers has already said he's got Agger on a personal training regime to get his match fitness up to standard and stop him getting injured all the time. Media making something out of nothing as per.

Agger's just come back from an injury. Played a full 90 minutes against Gomel.

Just read that Ajax and Newcastle may have agreed a fee over the signing of Vurnon Anita. He seems keen to make a move to the Premier League too so no doubt should a fee be agreed then personal terms will not be too difficult to sort, assuming the first part is true.

Rodwell going is good for Everton, especially if the money they get can be spent on 2/3 new players and they get to keep Baines and Fellaini. Rodwell is a top prospect but he's spent so much time injured the last couple of seasons that he's hardly going to be missed by the team. I hope he does well at City.

Juventus are claiming to be in negotiations with Athletic Club over the sale of striker Fernando Llorente. Llorente only has one year left on his contract but to all intents seemed relatively happy to stay in Bilbao so will be interesting to see how it develops. Apparently Athletic Club have called a press conference for tomorrow but I don't know if it's related to Llorente or not.

Can't really think of too many Spaniards who have gone to Italy in general, let alone had a great deal of success, so let's see how it goes.
