I might write in a little more detail about them later, but here are some of the albums I've bloody loved so far this year;

Beth Jeans Houghton & the Hooves Of Destiny - Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose

Leonard Cohen - Old Ideas

Mark Stewart - The Politics Of Envy

Nada Surf - The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy

Sigh - In Somniphobia

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Trouble

Ulver - Childhood's End

And probably a whole ton of other stuff. I forget what came out when.

Pujol - United States of Being

YES! I went to school with Pujol, he's a nice fella. Music ain't too shabby, either. I'm really psyched for him that he's getting all of this buzz and attention.

The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past

Hell of an album, their best work by far. I'd name it my album of the year, but with a new Gaslight album and 2 Green Day albums on the horizon, I have to hold off.

I found out about him from the Third Man Records single he released. It's crazy that he's still doing $5 shows. Hopefully he'll be able to tour the East Coast sometime in the near future.

Philly, NYC, and Boston in early-mid October.

I was at Grimey's the day after Bonnaroo, his album was #1 there. Had no idea who he was. But it's decent. Once I saw the Tullahoma bit, I wondered if Tristy knew him at all.

My list, no particular order:

Alabama Shakes - Boys and Girls

Dr. John - Locked Down

Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball

Killer Mike - RAP Music

Pop. 1280 - The Horror

Death Grips - The Money Store

Grimes - Visions

Trampled By Turtles - Stars and Stripes

That's from years ago? Like 2-3 albums back?

I don't have that much from this year in my iTunes library, but have listened to a few more on Spotify which isn't recorded obviously. From iTunes ad memory, I've heard/got from 2012:

iTunes

Childish Gambino, Camp (technically 2011, but I got it a couple of days after Christmas).

Childish Gambino, Royalty (the free mixtape)

Silversun Pickups, Neck of the Woods

The Gaslight Anthem, Handwritten

Heard/Spotify

Bruce Springsteen, Wrecking Ball

Shinedown, Amaryllis

I've bought a couple of singles too inc. Soundgarden's "Live to Rise", Josh Osho and Delphic's Olympic song "Good Life".

I think that Gaslight Anthem is by far an away the winner thus far... until Soundgarden's "King Animal" comes out in November. :shifty:

Well, after a real thorough listening session to Queen of the Wave by Pepe Deluxé, I will add it to the very top of my list because god damn, that record has just blown me away. Also after a more proper listen to both Locked Down and The Giant, they are going on the list as well. But yeah, everyone should fucking listen to Queen of the Wave; diverse instrumentation, nostalgic passages, makes use of so much from so little, basically just a massive pop opera about Atlantis or some shit. Amazing.
