  1. I assume it comes down to what you were sent off for. Two yellows for being slightly late would be ignored by a straight red for violent conduct might get you a ban
  2. Google also tells me that it was Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes who had to serve bans for red cards in a pre-season tournament. So it involved a player FROM Liverpool rather than a Liverpool player, close enough
  3. Normally yes but there can be exceptions made. Was it Gerrard who got a three game ban for a red card in a friendly? IIRC it was a Liverpool player I'm thinking of
  4. Oh, apparently Ken Bates was doing a good job of getting Leeds on a even keel before the nasty taxman got involved which led to the 15 point deduction after they went into administration about 5 minutes before their last game of the season had finished, which was completely justified and not at all a blatant end run around the rules. Plus there's an insinuation that the rules about point deductions for going into administration was done to screw Leeds over. He also claims Pompey had a lot more help from the premiership when they went bust than Leeds did, which seems like bullshit but I could be wrong.
  5. I'll be there ready to draft people who get injuried or get sold abroad before the end of the month
  6. Sliders. Just the first 2 and a half seasons. When a big significant thing happens in season 3, you know to give up. Watch season 4 and 5 at your own risk
  7. Yep, he's a lifelong Leeds fan. Like I said it's a well written and interesting book but the bias is too glaring for my liking
  8. While obviously not the way I wanted Blues' season to start, at least we're not starting as badly as Yeovil
  9. Rene Meulensteen seems to have a knack for getting fired quickly, didn't he manage Zeith for about a week? Also I did wonder where John Gregory had gone after Villa. Was it Villa or Derby who sacked him because of dodgy transfer deals?
  10. About halfway through No Glossing Over It: How Football Cheated Leeds United , it's well written and most of it is genuinely interesting but it's hard to get past the fact that this is an entire book devoted to "Isn't it awful how everyone picks on Leeds and wasn't Don Revie the greatest man in the history of football?" Granted, some of the refereeing in their big games seems shocking and they have a good case for considering themselves the "real" winners of their European Cup final against Bayern Munich but there is a sense of bitter whining over everything that I'm finding it hard to look past.
  11. I can pay as soon as the PayPal is set up. I think I've built a large enough watch list, I plan on doing my drafting live so the watch list is only there to remind me who I want hut wouldn't be shocked at finding myself needing three more players with an empty watch list. Might expand it a bit to be on the safe side.
  12. Go on then. As a newly promoted side, I'm looking to finish just outside the drop zone
  13. I'm down for this, have weekends off so this weekend is perfect for me to do some drafting
  14. It might be because it wasn't someone playing for my side that did it but I've always had respect for what Bogarde did. He knew that he was overpaid for what he brought to the table but fought to make Chelsea pay him every last penny of it. At end of the day, nobody forced Chelsea to offer him that amount per week and he was entitled to have it. It was the same when Portsmouth fans were screaming at their players to give up their owed wages because the club needed that money to invest in the squad. Of course, if he was a Birmingham City player then I'd have the same reaction as Stoker. Hypocritical? Yes but that unfortunately come hand in hand with nailed your support to one side sometimes.
  15. In news we all missed (or couldn't be arsed to mention) Jermaine Pennant has joined Billericay Town. His new team mates include Paul Konchesky and Jaime O'Hara and with Pennant are now spending £30,000 a week on wages in the SEVENTH tier!
  16. If Kubica is quicker (or even matches) than Palmer, then I can't see Kubica NOT being brought into the seat for Belgium. It would be the feel good story of the season. Plus getting shot of Palmer can only be a good thing.
  17. Out of curiosity, what's Haas' budget like in comparison to the teams around them? Not looking to demean their achievements so far, because Jaguar/BAR showed it's possible to throw top 4 money at a team and get fuck all in return and Haas seem to be a very well run team and deserve the success they've had, just wondering.

    Doctor Who

Colin Baker, who was there with him, immediately told him he was talking rubbish and that boys had had 50 years of The Doctor being male and the new one being female was a good thing. Colin Baker is a true national treasure.
  19. The Venky's must be so proud to have Blackburn to a competition where they face the might of Stoke U21's
  20. I did take the promotion, unfortunately I didn't get that £10 million. I still upgraded my rear wing centre, which turned out to be a slight mistake. After that £6 million spend, the new car took me down to £5 million left over. Then my new sponsor didn't pay as much as the old ones. Then I had to get rid of Tang because he devolved a rivalry with Ashwood and wouldn't sign a new deal, so he was replaced with a non paying driver. THEN I found out the chairmen was giving me a lot less a race for aiming for 8th in the APS. All in all I went from making £2 million a race before bonuses to £88,000 a race before bonuses (which was now £200,000 for 13th or better but I had to get it in both qualifying and the race itself to get the full amount). I ended up 5th in the end, so hindsight being 20/20 I should have been more daring at the start of the season and gotten more cash per race. I ended up just grabbing whichever position sponsor paid the most upfront, cut the budget for next yeats car for the last 3 races AND needed a cash injection from the chairmen to be able to develop the car for the entire season and not stop with 1/3 of the season left. Post season I replaced Ashwood with Tang and regained his lovely pay driver money (thanks to be being in a higher championship he now pays me £500,000 a race rather the £250,000 je was before). Also managed to get some slightly better sponsors which mean even after restoring my next year's car budget back to max I now clear £550,000 a race profit and after building season 7s car I have £7.5 million left over to develop the car this year, which starts off as the 5th best, so aiming for 4th in the championship (which now pays points to every position and not just the top 8 like last year).
  21. Swansea have slapped a £50 million price tag on Sigurdsson after turning down a £40 million offer from Leicester.
  22. Question! With one race to go in Season 6 I've wrapped up another double and am now thinking about whether to accept promotion. I will have just shy of £16 million in the bank before prize money and next years car budget and have got Epic centres for everything aside for the wing which have Great, plus I am nearly finished upgrading my factory to level three (which will give me 6 slots for both performance and reliability improvements. After prize money and next years car I will have about £40 million in the bank and with the APS still having Spec engines (which is the first time I've seen it survive this long and it will still be there next season, I made sure to check) I should have enough to make a decent fist of things next year. Only thing is, the APS are bringing in a rule that says from next season any newly promoted teams get a £10 million bonus payment. If I accept promotion this season I'll get that at the start of Season 7 right? That way I can start upgrading one of my wing centres now for free essentially.
  23. England tearing through the South Africa top order here. Set 331 for the win in the first test, SA are 37-4 with over a day to go
  24. Season 5 done and I did the double! Ashwood took the Driver's title with Tang 2nd and we walked the Constructors. Thanks to even better sponsors for the last few races we are now pulling in £2.4Million before any bonuses, which along with the prize money allowed me to upgrade both the suspension and engine centres to Epic level and build a Great centre for the Front Wing. Kept both drivers on for season 6, where I start with the best car (with only the engine not the best of everyone), so will only be doing minimal upgrading in an effort to build up my finances for promotion (going into the first race with just over £5mill and still have a sponsor paying £1mill for 5th and above so would ideally like to end the season with £15-25mill before prize money and build a Rear Wing centre with the prize money and go into next season with around £30mil to allow me build a good package for the next level). Oh and I did manage to force through Very High Merit Payments, screw you little guys, you should be thrilled at assisting my promotion push
