  1. Star Wars Episode I: That was so bad I think you gave me cancer!
  2. Elbows has apparently agreed personal terms for a move to a Chinese club
  3. Sure you can, one wicket keeper and a guy at fly slip who drifts into the centre. With someone else at long stop to be safe.
  4. Which made Jimmys 81 against India all the more glorious
  5. I liked the first episode, hopefully the Colombian special on tomorrow is up to usual foreign special standard.
  6. I can just imagine the gritted teeth explanation at the next job interview when the chairmen brings up how you were relegated at your last club
  7. Does he have history there like Torres and Costa or have Atletico just become the official resting place for Chelsea strikers?
  8. Fair play, didn't expect to get that right. Who are the five managers to have won the Champions League with different clubs?
  9. Only when it gets the last few hours do they break out the House of Fraser discounts
  10. As opposed to Orient's which is foedus tribus
  11. These Are The Voyages Enterprise was a very flawed show (though season 4 was a big step up) but it didn't deserve to have its finale be a glorified TNG episode
  12. Didn't he manage Sheffield United for a few months? Just another reason Wednesday fans shouldn't want him
  13. Burnley, Swansea and Palace. Main transfer dealings were bringing in Kasey Palmer (MC/AMC), Sebastiano Luperto (DC), Bartosz Kapustka (AMRLC), Carlos Bacca (AMC/STC) and Andrea Di Grazia (AMLR) on free tranfers since I got a decent wage budget but only a couple of million to spend. Kept the first XI from last season together aside from the loan players who I've managed to replace with free transfers. Only loans are Juan Carlos (GK) from Roman and Raul Ruidiaz (STK) from Spurs since I couldn't find a good striker to bring in on a free aside from Bacca who is more likely to act as cover for Ruidiaz and Palmer. Didn't sell anyone of note after knocking back bids for Besic (£3.5M?! Jog on Brentford) and Dylan Hanlon who at 18 my main central midfield cover already with even more scope to improve and not leaving for anything short of £10 Million. We've made a good start to the season, made the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup like board wanted (who like last season just want a top half finish and there wasn't enough extra budget to be worth raising that) before losing 3-1 to Arsenal. Unbeaten after the first ten games (six wins and four draws) to sit 2nd, just two points behind Middlesborough.
  14. Bah. After lurking in 3rd for most of season, we failed to take advantage of Fulham's season falling apart in the last ten games. We closed from 10 points behind them to 2 in four games but then our form deserted us, winning only once, drawing four and losing twice in our last seven games to finish 4th. We beat West Brom 2-1 in the semi-finals only to lose 2-0 to Huddesfield in the final after more wasteful finishing. Need to find strikers who can finish over the summer when Abraham and Rodriguez go back to their parent clubs
  15. Seems to be mix of him and Marcelo Grohe (£7.5M summer buy) right now, they've taken Pickford off the loan list. After taking 8 points from my first 7 league games (2 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses) along with getting knocked out of the Carabao cup 2nd round against Charlton on penalties (which despite them being last in the Championship at the time the board have not gotten too annoyed about), I switched tactics from 4-4-2 to 4-1-4-1 (with attacking midfielders) in an effort to retain the ball bit more while keeping my promise to play attacking football. Seems to have worked as we've won our last six in a row to put us 2nd behind Fulham (making me feel a little better about that loss to them)
  16. Having won my second treble in a row at TNS I decided it was time to move on. My choices were Queen of the South (Just won promotion to the Scottish Prem), Hearts (finished 4th in Scottish Prem) and Sheffield Wednesday (Just finished 9th in the Championship). Took the Wednesday job as Queen of the South and Hearts both seem to be working on very tight wage budgets and Wednesday had a bit of room to play with. This became a lot more room to play with after a few contracts expired, including saying bye bye to Jordan Rhodes and his £50,000 a week. Board want a top half finish and third/fourth round in the cups. Only about £500,000 transfer fund but £100K a week spare wage budget. Areas that needed improving were strikers and wingbacks, not that they were awful, just not as good as the rest of the team. Loans have sorted the issue in defense and up front (Depaoli on the right, Hancko on the left in defense, Jay Rodriguez and Tammy Abraham up front which I'm very pleased about). Funded a bit more spending by selling Barry Bannon to West Brom for £9Mil (plus a potential £2mil in extras) which for a 30 year old I can't complain about. This allowed me to bring in Luca Mazzitelli for £450K who had been on loan with Wednesday last season and Mo Besic for £3.1M. Missed out on the chance to sign Jordan Pickford on loan for the season as Everton want his full wages AND £500K a month even though they have him listed for loan. Start of the seaon has been iffy. A couple of good draws away at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United let down by a 3-2 home loss to Fulham, though just thumped Rotherham 5-1 in the Carabao Cup 1st round. Seven goals between Rodriguez (2) and Abraham (5, including a hat trick against Rotherham) in four games so far.
  17. I'm just going to assume the local fans have a chant to the tune of the Gaston song from Beauty and the Beast ready for when he scores.
  18. Speaking of Real, they just lost 3-0 At Eibar! 😄
  19. Just won my second straight title with TNS with 6 games to spare, along with the League Cup and the Welsh Cup quarters to come. Champions league campaign ended in the second qualifying round again, swiftly followed by losing the Europa league qualifier, which is one round earlier than I managed last year thanks to an shocking inability to finish chances in both legs. Now that the title's secure I'm debating what to do next. I can refresh the squad again over the summer (having lost a couple of my signings from last summer to annoyingly low "foreign club minimum fee release" clauses that I couldn't get players to not have) or move on. Knocked back a couple of approaches from Barnet (who were last in the conference national) and Carlisle (fighting the drop from League Two) during the season but now tempted by the St. Mirran job (fighting the drop in the Scottish Prem). Bookies favourite for it and declared my interest, which the TNS board have actually taken quite well only stating they hope to keep hold of me. If I don't get that job then I might stay put until the new season's sacking start.
