  1. I'm gonna re-do my graphics for this year but has anyone else had issues previously with OneDrive and know workarounds? Because the SI folder is within My Documents, it automatically tries to back everything up to the cloud which means it's trying to upload gigabytes worth of stuff, hundreds of thousands worth of files that I can't seem to stop. It's not a massive issue but I do periodically get pops up saying my OneDrive is full, I have to force shutdown my machine because it's still trying to upload in the background and I get other pop ups in a 'remember this day?' sort of way where it's just the headshot of some Slovakian 4th division centre back. I thought I had excluded this specific folder from the backup but it just seems to do it anyway regardless.
  2. That was my thought as well but Sheff Utd ultimately got a payout in that instance, no? Albeit, it was probably settled out of court and was really only relevant to them because they were in 18th place last year so, as Colly alludes to, there's really only Leicester from last year that could make an argument so I'm not quite sure why we're sticking our oar in. You'd think we'd learned after that whole Jean-Kevin Augustin saga.
  3. Let the joint Leeds, Leicester and Southampton lawsuit begin! Really looking forward to being given one third of that new stadium as compensation, maybe we can bolt it on to Elland Road
  4. Something about the different sections being colour coded for graphics, story etc rubbed me the wrong way. It feels condescending, as if people won't be able to tell what he's talking about. It's a little like when reviewers include a number at the end for the people to support to actually read the review and guage the authors opinion.
  5. I am so looking forward to people making that argument so we can just point at End Game which has like the 'wokest' scene ever when every woman ever helps Spidey move the gauntlet and yet still made eleventy quadrillion dollars.
  6. I saw Ends the other week for Halloween and I loved it. I know the term 'legacy sequel' gets banded around a lot nowadays but these felt like legacy sequels in every sense of the world, rather than just trot Michael Myers out to kill a whole bunch of people again we actually get a look at how the events of 40 years ago have affected not just Laurie but the entire town. In the first you have the idea that Laurie's PTSD and obsession with Michael ruined her relationship with her own family, then in Kills you've got the whole town whipped into a frenzy and this sense of panic that I feel isn't really captured in other movies. Like, slashers movies tend to be hyper focused on one victim and their group of friends so you don't get the wider sense of how the local area is reacting to this serial killer being on the loose. Then with Ends, you've got this interesting look at this origin of sorts and this idea of whether evil is born or created, is this one kid just this way by nature or has he been ostracized by the town to a point that he wants to become the monster everyone thinks he is? I remember it being hated when it came out but the most vocal of the complaints seem to come down 'WHY ISN'T MICHAEL THE KILLER?' which, to me, has been done to death now. There's like 11 other movies in this franchise you can go back and watch if you want to see Michael Myers run around and stab a bunch of dudes. I'm happy they tried something fresh with these films.
  7. So, the Season 1 Division 2 playoffs end with Overlap F.C earning a respectful 10 wins in 15 games. This should put us over the threshold for club level and earn us some better AI players (in theory) next season as we try to push on to Div 1 or even the Elite division. This also brings us to the Overlap FC end of season awards! The Lucky Charm Award Awarded to the player with the greatest win percentage. 3. Baddar & Jimmy tied with 54% 2. Larz with 55% and the winner is...Kaney with 57%! The Ryan Hughes Memorial Award Sadly not the award for dancing down the left hand touchline to the sound of clown music, this is awarded to the player with the highest assists per game average. 3. Ellis with 0.41 2. Daws with 0.47 and the winner is...Jimmy with a whopping 0.61! The Quarterback Award Awarded to the player with the best passing percentage. 3. Ellis/Kaney/Larz & Daws all tied with 76% 2. Baddar and Ollie tied with 79% and the winner is...Jimmy again with 84%! The Anti-Daws Award Awarded to the player with the best shots on target percentage. Honourable mention goes to Ollie with his solid effort of 0%. 3. Ellis with 28% 2. Larz with 29% and the winner is...Baddar with 33% The Dirtiest Player in the Game Award Awarded to the player with the most red cards. There may be some controversy here as I don't recall some of these but EA are infallible so the stats must be true. 2. Kaney, Jimmy and Daws tied with 1 each and the winner is...Larz with 2! The MVP Award Awarded to the player with the highest player of the match per game percentage. 3. Ellis & Jimmy tied with 0.16 2. Larz with 0.21 and the winner is...Daws with 0.28! The Hodor Memorial Award Awarded to the player who has been the greatest goal scorer in Overlap history on a per game basis. 3. Baddar with 0.59 2. Ellis with 0.62 and the winner is...predictably...Larz with 0.79! Any particular highlights to mention from the first season? Maybe Kaney running rampant during the playoffs, including his 5 goal haul in a single game? Or possibly the unforgettable terror in Ollie's voice any time the ball came within 3 feet of him on the opening day. And who can forget the emotional return of iconlegendstar Jimmy Dean? (I've transcribed the in game stats to a Google Sheet for historical purposes and used them to generate averages as that seemed fairer for people who haven't played as much. Link is here if you want to have a looksie. I imagine the in game stats wont reset for the next season so this might be tricky to do again, I guess I'd have to deduct the S1 totals from the running totals at the end of S2.)
  8. Anyone for the last playoff game? Think we've got a day or two left. Can maybe try some different formations, positions etc afterwards because the league games don't count for promotion until the reset as I understand it.
  9. I would love if they Fake Razor and Diesel it by putting someone else on ZP. But yeah, Escapist isn't long for this world without it's cash cow. I fell off the show years ago but am still subbed to their channel on YT and it seemed like they were having to fiddle with all sorts of things over the last few months, setting up Patreon etc to aid their revenue streams so they can't be too great in the first place. No disrespect to anyone else on there but I have to imagine Yahtzee is the primary traffic driver on there and if he's gone, what else are people visiting for?
  10. Goalkeepers being made of glass doesn't seem to have been fixed either which is why I'm now playing in the Europa League with Alex 'oh shit I need a home grown 3rd choice' Cairns in net.
  11. Forgot about Game Pass, which I re-upped a few months back, so I'm on the FM24 train. Imported my Leeds save from FM23 on a post relegation update where I got them back into the Prem. It's funny to load the game in with a team that has pretty much no one attracting intrest from other clubs, advance the game once and then the Saudis arrive...
  12. The DS/3DS flashcards (or 'upgrade chip' as I recall some people charitably calling them) are a bit of a rabbit hole in themselves. Some will work in a 3DS, some won't. Some will play 3DS games, some won't. There's limitations in some on the microSD they'll accept and lots of imitations out there so it might need some research if you go that route. I think you might be able to mess with the system itself rather than need to use carts but I never looked into it much. You can play normal DS games on 3DS but it's just a bit off visually because the screen sizes are different. You can do a button combo whilst starting the game to force native resolution but then it only uses half the screens and looks a bit weird itself. If he's never played DS in the first place then he won't know any different so probably wouldn't even be an issue.
  13. Between this and the wrestling, Lineker is certainly getting his fingers into the Beebs website output.
  14. Solid session all round. We have learned that Kaney in the Pro Clubs Playoffs is like Miroslav Klose in the World Cup. Must have easily scored 10+ goals tonight. And of course set the record for the most goals in a single match of Overlap history... Potentially a few Playoffs matches left if we can fit them in within the next 5 days. We're on course to finish in the top 10% which would award us enough new fans to reach club level 3 and upgrade the AI to 82 OVR. EDIT: 1 playoff match left. We can still do league after that but they wont count towards anything until the season resets. Found the stats, Larz and Kaney both on 13 goals in the playoff.
  15. Big victory tonight, still a pretty big mountain to climb to try and overtake Ipswich and Leicester in the top two but still a lot of time in the season and it keeps us in touch.
  16. Saturday would be good, I meant to say that Friday would be iffy considering it's Leeds Vs Leicester.
  17. Ideally we'll need to play at some point over the next few days, I think the playoffs are starting. Not sure how long they last, presumably about a week or so? Think we're a point off promotion to div 2 ATM so we could potentially hold off for an in theory easier go of things in the playoffs.
  18. I love the Claude Rains movie but it's a completely different beast. As Jack Black put it in an interview once, it's more like something out of the Three Stooges. I do have the legacy collection for classic Universal Invisible Man films that I need to dig into at some point. Hollow Man I recall being okay, think I've only ever seen it twice and it's been a while since that last viewing.
  19. Anyone for clubs today? I messed around with some of the other formations if we want a change from the usual 5-3-2. The 4-2-3-1 I think might be interesting when we just have the one striker on, they could hold the ball up for the 3 AM's to run past.
  20. Bamford, please get out of my club.
  21. Anybody else get the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder? I'm still very early on in the game but the one word that instantly springs to mind is refreshing. I have no qualms with the NSMB series, but it's been the dominant 2D Mario experience over the last 15-20 years between the DS/3DS games and the spin offs on Wii/Wii U/Switch. Granted you had the Mario Maker stuff too but, whilst I haven't played them, I know they obviously take the various 2D games of yore as their base so whilst making your own levels is obviously new, it's still based on the old engines. I suppose there's only so much you can do with a 2D Mario and this isn't breaking the mold massively but it feels like a lot of little changes that add up. Like, on the world screen it starts off very traditional in the tutorial section where you're just going from level to level but in the first real world it becomes more akin to the Mario/Rabbids game or something out of Final Fantasy where you can run around in a small area to pick levels or interact with stuff, even if it's just a question mark block or a pipe hidden away behind scenery. Granted, there's always been flexibility to some degree in these games where it's not just super linear one level after the other, whether that's the branching maps like in SMB3 or being able to skip around with warp pipes, but it feels novel having that limited degree of exploration on the overworld. In that first world for example, it starts up and shows you the castle at the end which has X number of macguffins required to access it so the implication is you go back to the first couple of levels in that world to earn them. But, I wandered off and found the path to another area where I was able to use some other in game macguffins to get through and unlock other levels and mini-games to help unlock that castle. Those mini-games are neat too, it's a useful way to learn about the new mechanics of the game but you also get that sense of progression by earning the stuff to unlock more levels. It makes you feel more in control too, I went back to NSMBU to compare and there's times on the map screen where you're waiting 5-10 seconds for Mario to run between areas as he's automatically jumping on scenery and stuff to get there. Whereas here you're the one choosing where to go, though I suppose there might be auto stuff later on. Feels like there's a lot of quality of life improvements too. Like, I've seen comparisons between NSMBU and this showing how quickly you can get back into the action if you die because it doesn't boot you back out to the map screen. Or, if you want to replay an old level, you can just pull up a list from the pause screen on the map screen. Again comparing it to NSMBU, you had to go find a warp pipe on the map screen there, shoot back over to the world you wanted and then run around to the level. And, whilst they haven't gone as far as getting rid of the archaic lives system, there's no time limit in levels so you're free to wander about as you please to try and find hidden stuff. No doubt this will be a welcome addition in the post game when you're trying to 100% everything by trying to find all the stage coins, secret exits etc. The in game 'badge' system feels like it might help offer some puzzle like elements but without the backtracking of getting certain powerups. Like, in previous games you might find an area you can only reach if you're tiny Mario or the Koopa Shell Mario and you have to remember where to even find those powerups again. Well here, you can pick a passive ability to enter each stage with, the ones I have so far is using Mario's hat as a parachute like you've probably seen in the trailers, or earn more coins from defeated enemies. So there's potential to cut out the backtracking if you can just be like 'Oh, I need that badge here' and quickly restart with that one selected. The game just oozes charm as well, just lots of little things like the animations when you go in a pipe such as Mario reaching back out to grab his hat or, when in elephant mode, the characters are having to squeeze themselves in like Santa going down a chimney after one too many mince pies. Then there's the sheer look of terror on a Goomba's face when he sees elephant Mario smack his mate, his life flashing before his eyes as he realizes he's next. Or even individual levels like Piranha Plants on Parade which is reminiscent of something out of Rayman Origins/Legends.
  22. 2-0 down away at Carrow Road, only to turn it around and win 2-3 thanks to a Summerville brace, fantastic. Up to 3rd now due to Leicester's form that is pretty much cheating TBH.
