Is the story mode worth bothering with? I gather there is an actual end to it, presumably there's just different stories you can run into on the way there?

I didn't play too much that was new in 2023 so, as I think has been common in these kind of threads over the years, the game I've had the most fun with is FIFA/FC 24 purely down to Clubs but I can't in good conciencse describe that bug ridden and predatory mess as 'Game of the Year'. It's a toss up between HiFi Rush, Lies of P and Mario. Whilst the latter 2 are still good, I'm still relatively early in Mario so I'm picking HiFi Rush. I think in Yahtzee's game of the year episode he summarises it as a highly polished quirky 3rd party game you'd get on the PS2, which is very fitting. It's an interesting blend of action and rhythm game where you need to fight to the beat of the music, the characters are fun and it's an immediately striking game with it's colour and art style. I think it's been collateral damage in the shedding of the Bielsa era. Ian Poveda had the makings of it at one point but you can set your watch to his hair now. Kris Klaesson as well had it at one point but he was showing off like a bleached blonde mullet when he was thrust into the first team recently.

As ridiculous as it sounds for an 83 day reign, it's been a long time coming. Granted it's a bit extreme to call them playoff contenders when it was still the start of the season that Eustace got sacked but they've had an atrocious record under Rooney and everyone saw this coming a mile off. I can only assume that letting Bamford score and Firpo get 2 assists were the straws that broke the camels back.

Something I only learned about a couple of years ago was Coheed and Cambria doing a sequel to Jessie's Girl which was a bit of a worlds colliding moment for me given the original being a total banger and my fandom of Co&Ca.

I'm not overly fussed about watching a 30 min re-upload but, from the brief summaries I've seen, it sounds like James Somerton put out a bit of a non apology video and re-activated his patreon, only for both to be quickly pulled. Some people were saying he was after money as he was talking about putting his videos back up, as well as making new ones that were all his own writing but others are saying he was only putting the patreon up so people could unsub and any money from the videos were going to be sent to the people he plagiarized. I suppose he'll have his die hard fans who might somehow be unaware of this whole thing or think it's just a hit piece so maybe he could still shuffle along after everything's blown over?

Playoffs are on again starting tomorrow if people are around in the coming days. I think FC24 is part of a free weekend as well on Xbox so in theory people could jump on through that and join in.

Roddy was my first thought as well but, yeah, there's some real 'Dr Nick' energy about that picture like he's being dressed up to draw sympathy and maybe get a killer payoff out of it.

Obviously it's just a trailer that should be taken with a pinch of salt and we need to see how things pan out in game but it certainly looks very busy. As unwanted a comparison as it might be, it puts me in mind of something like AC Unity which always had lots of NPC's around. Certainly the setting does bring something of a brighter tone too which would be welcome after V and IV before it. Whilst I'm cautiously optimistic, there's the elephant in the room of how much the multiplayer component will potentially overshadow the single player side. We've already seen that despite various re-releases, they've shown no interest in doing any single player DLC for V and would much rather milk everyone for more shark card money. For my sins I still haven't played RDR2 but how would people say that the multiplayer affected that? I guess I'm wary that going into V the multiplayer was always a side thing and didn't even come out until a month or two in, but now this is being developed in a world where they know the vast money they make on it so the worry is that will be the main focus. I've always heard good things about the single player for RDR2 and bad about the multi so I suppose that's a good sign?

I've taken to just essentially ignoring them for now. I'll say that I'll sort it, do nothing, someone gets upset and then in a few months they'll drop it. Then the cycle repeats. Granted I'm in a piss easy league so I think I can just tank it, people amongst FM Tube do seem to get wrecked by it due to the power of Morale Simulator 24.

Not only was El Tel a master of the pitch and the dugout, people forget that he was also a Sinatra-esque crooner. A real renaissance man.

There's a Humble Bundle on that has WrestleQuest at the £8.01 level. I know it had fairly average reviews on release and I imagine a lot of people who were interested might already have it but it saves a few quid on RRP and you get other stuff at the same time, namely a lot (all?) of the Telltale Walking Dead games and a Vampire Survivors-like Renfield game.
