1. Boom Boom Rocket I bought this game last night and thought I'd write up what I thought about it for this thread, because not everyone will be like Krauser and send me a PM to ask me what I think of it. It's shockingly good. My favourite game on the Xbox Live Arcade service is Geometry Wars, and this is made by the same people and has a similar vibe to it. I assume this plays in a similar fashion to Guitar Hero, but without the immense price tag associated with all the controller peripherals you have to buy to play it. As such, I'd happily recommend it to people like myself that like the concept behind the Guitar Hero franchise, but don't have the money to spend on it. I'm not going to suggest that Boom Boom Rocket is as good as Guitar Hero, far from it, but as far as cheaper alternatives go - this isn't bad at all. I dig the simplistic gameplay and classical music. I dig the multiplayer aspect, and the pick-up and play factor. (Easy is accessible for EVERYONE, whilst Hard is only for those for three hands and those that don't mind using a fourth hand to waft away the steam rising from the controller, such is the speed of the hectic level of difficulty.) Its plus sides are that it is a cheap alternative to the more expensive rhythm games, and is good family fun the likes of which I haven't seen since we discovered 'Bop It'. Thumbs up, 800 Microsoft Points well spent in my opinion. Great fun.
2. No, I think its graphics are tremendous. The problem is that I don't care for these amazing graphics (and the lack of a HDTV means I cannot fully experience the cinematic cut-scenes as they are intended anyway). I'd rather play something like Hexic, but then that's just my personal preference when it comes to games. Resident Evil on the Playstation was just as infuriating, because that forced you to sit through cut scene after cut scene. I much prefer a game like Crackdown, where you can do as you choose. GOW has a predetermined path, and IMO is too much of a story/film and not enough of a game. Online is much better, you are right (although I suck at it lol) As for Viva Pinata, I didn't get it in the end. £45 ($89)? I think not. HMV have it advertised online at £30, but is priced at £45 in store. What the fuck?
3. I've heard that from a lot of people actually, and the lack of local multi-player is downright farcical, however Bomberman is a game I used to play with a friend of mine on the SNES. I don't see him much anymore but he has a 360 as well, and we agreed to buy it for some online Bomberman nostalgia, despite it being raped of its original glory. True, we're buying it for the name, but it's just a personal thing really rather than expecting a great game... although the video footage of the game doesn't look ALL that bad. Hearing that you can't save during the 99 level single player mode, however, is bad. ...... I'm only buying it if I can find it on the cheap, but the bomberman franchise interests me. A release of the SNES bomberman games on Xbox Live and I'd be there like a SHOT. As it is, this will have to do Who knows though, I might just like it
4. I got it from Gamestation. It was advertised online but wasn't mentioned at all in my local store. I had to tell the cashier what I wanted, and he wasn't sure that I was correct so had to check for himself on the store's computers to verify it. Since then, I don't see the deal advertised online anymore, but it wouldn't hurt to ask for it in store like I did. I'm buying Viva Pinata tomorrow from HMV. It's £30 in store, and I have a £25 gift voucher to use. I'll let you know what I think of it. Bomberman: Act Zero and FIFA 07 are also on the horizon, however I refuse to pay full price for them. Most shops have them for £50, but I'll wait until I can find them for ~£20. Whether that's through a special offer, waiting for a price drop, or eBay - I don't care. I'm not paying £50, especially for FIFA 07, which will plummet in price as soon as FIFA 08 is released.
5. Thirteen days ago I bought an Xbox360 Premium Console, Gears of War, Crackdown, SmackDown VS Raw 2007, Project Gotham Racing 3, Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1 and an extra wireless controller. It cost me £304.99. Of those games, I have completed Crackdown. This has surprised me for a number of reasons; going into the deal I knew very little about Crackdown and have ended up loving it the most of all my games. This marks the first game in a number of years that I have actually completed, and rather than it becoming a chore (ala Batman Begins on the PS2, which I never did complete in the end) I loved every moment of it. I loved the GTA elements, as well as the collection of Orbs & building of stats. Really immersing stuff that had me hooked. I am least impressed with Gears Of War. Gears is not my cup of tea at all, and to me it is the Xbox360 equivalent of Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation. More than just sharing the word 'Gear' in the title, they are also similar in that they will both collect dust on my shelf despite their rave reviews. I think Gears takes itself too seriously, with gameplay that moves at a slow pace and is laden with lengthy cut-scenes. I'm not too fond on the stealthier shooters, and don't particularly care for the graphics (especially as I don't have a HD TV) but after reading all these reviews for Gears Of War; I expected just a little bit more from it. SmackDown was just what I expected, but I like it. GM mode was grossly underwhelming and tedious, but there is so much more to SmackDown that I don't mind it. Am I the only one that sucks at this game online? Everyone seems to attack quicker than me, and I spend my time mashing the buttons to get up the majority of the time, and most of my attempts at offense either miss (Strikes) or are countered (Grapples) leaving me with an impressive 0-4 losing streak at the moment. Maybe I'm just getting too old for SmackDown now, but playing it online was really frustrating and reminds me of my Dad moaning because he was pressing the buttons and they weren't doing anything. Maybe a little too fast paced for me now, but single player is a blast. Project Gotham Racing 3 is a bit of a dark horse because I have no interest in racing games, but actually quite like this one. After Gran Turismo 3 sat on the shelf collecting dust with Metal Gear Solid during the PlayStation era, I held out little hope for this game - however I have been impressed by how easy it is to pick up and play. I am normally atrocious at these games, but I gave it a go and found myself completing the challenges in career mode. Perhaps the game lacks depth, but it's better than I expected it to be. With that said however, I find it more difficult with the more expensive cars. I started out with a slow (Class E?) car and did quite well, and thought that as I could afford a better car, it would make the races easier and I'd have a better chance of winning. This wasn't true however, as with the purchase of a better car, all the time trial goalposts moved, meaning that rather than completing the lap faster with the better car and increasing my chances of success, the game simply makes the lap time faster, thus providing an even greater challenge than before. Many a time I have put my Ferrari back in the garage to complete the challenges with my Class E car for this very reason. Surely logic dictates that you improve your car and have greater success? Not the opposite! This just makes me want to regress back to my slower, more dependable car. Rawr!
6. I like the back but am not so keen on the front, for reasons that have already been brought up. As for the spine, my official copy of WM22 is just the logo on a plain black spine (similar to yours) so I wouldn't worry about congesting that area any more than is absolutely necessary.
7. I'm at a similar point to Timmayy. I've just beaten Los Muertos & am knee deep in The Volk at the moment, who I'm getting through slowly but surely. My stats are: Agility: *** Firearms: *** Explosives: ** Strength: **** Driving: *** This game is awesome. I'm really digging it, and only got it because it came free in the 360 bundle pack I bought. My explosives were really low until just recently, when I realised I could swipe the enemies rocket launcher guns and use them myself. Much better than those pathetic grenades. I suck at the rooftop races & driving races, so haven't scored many ability levels from those - which makes this final agility star absolute HELL to get. I've collected about 250 agility orbs now, and still have a long way to go using this method. Great game, though.

DS

I bought Bomberman as a present for someone the other day. Is it as awesome as the SNES version?
9. I have watched the first few episodes of season one (because of this thread) and have come to the conclusion that this show rocks. Hard. More people should check this show out, especially if they are like me and enjoy watching Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, etc.
10. At Nickelback, during "Never Again" there is a line sung: 'Haven't you heard, don't hit a lady? Kickin' your ass would be a pleasure!' that came across so passionately and powerfully to me that it's something I'll remember forever.

South Park

Yeah; although I narrowed it down to just one favourite episode, there are a number of them that I really really like. I watch South Park religiously. There are just a few episodes I don't enjoy watching over & over again. I'd find it easier to list those than the ones I like. The episode with Towelie & Oprah's Vagina is one episode I didn't like.

South Park

Scott Tenorman Must Die is my favourite and was the first episode that came to mind when I read the title of the thread. It's good to see that everyone else is already giving it the recognition it deserves. I think the thing that appeals to me the most is how it all ties in together at the end beautifully as the full extent of Cartman's evil genius is revealed after he spent the majority of the episode looking like a total putz. I think it's the best episode of South Park, because the end was just so shocking, cruel and yet somehow... rewarding. All the while, being absolutely hilarious.
13. I SHALL TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO EMPHASISE THIS. KEITH IS NOT LYING. BEST SHOW EVER. BRING ON THE DVD. I WANNA GO AGAIN
14. NEWS: Jimmy Carr's Gag Reflex has been voted "Best Live Stand Up Tour" at the British Comedy Awards. See? I told you it was good.
15. I'll reserve proper judgement until I see more of the actual game, but I'm not impressed thus far. I hope it's good, I just haven't seen anything particularly interesting. I had no doubts prior to watching the trailer that Midway are capable of piecing together a watchable 30 second promotional clip. I want to know how well it plays. I have a feeling it'll end up more like Legends Of Wrestling than No Mercy. AJ Styles & Samoa Joe may be giving advice on the game; but seriously - they can't work miracles. They're pro wrestlers for Christ's sake. How do you expect their influence on a computer game to be anything more than nodding and making minor tweaks?
16. I went, and it was awesome. I don't know why either, because his jokes are all relatively simple and outside of the context of his live show, might be something a work colleague would tell you to pass the time. His delivery, however, is fucking brilliant.
17. Near the back of the stalls. Row X. No spoilers please lol
18. I'm going to see Jimmy Carr tomorrow night in London. Is anyone else going? What do people think of him? This is the first time I have been to see a comedian. I'm quite looking forward to it actually. His misogynistic humour is the kind of thing I find hilarious.
19. A friend of mine has this game (UK version). He can't set CAWs the original music because there's no crowd noise over the audio during his CAW's entrance. Is this normal? Also, his game totally locks up when he tries to play a Royal Rumble in exhibition. That sounds like an abnormal fault with his game, rather than a common bug. That's why I thought I'd ask about the audio.
20. It was an exciting game though, and I think Campbell-Ryce is my new favourite footballer name (Closely followed by Djemba-Djemba). I'm a sucker for double barrel names that sound bad ass.
21. Two months on and there has been loads of Tenacious D activity lately (especially compared to their past few years which have been devoid of new material). A few music videos have been released. Here they are from YouTube. Classico: <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6d79iTTeyI"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=769V-WasgHk"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=769V-WasgHk"> Their album is due out next Monday (13th). I have the deluxe edition preordered at Play.com Their movie is in cinemas next Friday (17th). Here is a quote from a review on ainttcool.com:
22. I pissed off my girlfriend by spending far too much time on Football Manager. Her response was to beat me to the computer and spend an eternity on Theme Hospital. Then it crashed because it was a second hand 99p copy of the game, and whilst in mourning she discovered my copy of The Sims from many many years ago. After she decided to buy loads of add on packs (I dare not tell her there's a Sims 2), I am setting up another PC - to do my billions of online tasks and duties without being asked what I think of her garden.
