hugobomb
Got my second badge thank to Staravia owning bug pokemon left right and centre. About 6 and half hours in now (bought it at the start of a four day off stretch, two more days to go). Team is now: Staravia - Level 25 Luxio - Level 23 Machop - Level 21 (went from level 7 to 21 in that forest where you escort that girl who heal you up after every battle, should have stayed there longer) Grotle - Level 19 (Need to build him up to Staravia's level) Bidoof - Level 8 (Takes far too fucking long to level up, though does have both Rock Smash and Cut) Egg (From Woman in Eterna City) Biking it on the way to Hearthome City right now. Plubby
Playing Pearl, I've made it to the Pokemon League with my "Current" Battling team (I plan to upgrade at least two of them, probably more post-Elite 4) and this is my team: Lvl 51 Empoleon Lvl 53 Rapidash Lvl 53 Crobat Lvl 54 Weavile Lvl 55 Raichu Lvl 55 Blissey I've been aiming to get them all to 55, have been training inside Victory Road. How far does everyone think i'll get at Level 55? I guess I could shoot for 60 across the board, but that's going to take a looong time. Is Victory Road even the best place to train? I assume it has the most high-level wild Pokemon, and an unfortunate case of idiocy has proved that there are no trainers left in Victory Road to battle. DoubleX
Sometimes I wonder if DoubleX should really be PokédeX. That, or the competitive-Pokémon world champion. Last time I competed in any form of competitive battling was several years ago, and against people who knew what they were doing my win-loss record wasn't very good at all, in Standard competition at least. I was better in Underused. Go figure >_> Basically, I may know what I'm talking about, but when it comes to putting it all together there are a lot of people out there better than me. I assume it has the most high-level wild Pokemon, and an unfortunate case of idiocy has proved that there are no trainers left in Victory Road to battle. First of all, I took on the Elite Four and won with a level 50 team across the board. If you type-match properly and have decent movesets then level 50 is the bare minimum to win. 55 would be preferable, and you should be able to win. Second of all, the Vs. Seeker should work in caves, so use that on trainers to battle them again. Failing that, one tried-and-true method of levelling is to just repeatedly face the Elite Four and get as far as you can. You'll lose money if you fail, but you'll at least be levelling your stuff. If you're paranoid, level everything to 60, but that'll take ages. Just to give you an idea, Elite Four Pokemon levels range from 53 to 66. Good luck. (Y) Edited May 25, 2009 by DoubleX
Momo
The Vs. Seeker doesn't work in caves, or at the very least, not in Victory Road.

The obvious route around losing money - spend all of it on Max Revives and Full Restores, then you've also got something to help you against them, plus money is easy as hell to come by. Plubby
I use Max Potion + Full Heal over Full Restores...it's only 100 more exp for one unit, but it feels cheaper long-run given that I don't use full heals at the rate I would need to in order to justify spending a full restore on paralysis... EDIT: My point to that is - what are peoples' thoughts on that? Edited May 25, 2009 by Plubbuffet
Benji
Well, I wouldn't say there's no point, the sensible person carries maybe a mix of all three if you're really bothered about saving money, but really, with the VS Seeker (and the Amulet Coin, if you have it), you really shouldn't worry at all about money, it's easilly made back from the richer trainers in the game, I suggest the rich kid near/in the grass between the Valor Lakefront and Sunnyshore (first trainer on Route 222 between the two IIRC, he only has one electric Pokémon, easy pickings for any ground type and he gives 6880 credits). TCO
So with the summer coming again, I'll be starting my annual playthrough of a random Pokemon game again, this time it's Leafgreen and I'd like someone to post a good balanced team to run through and beat it with, noting that I'll be choosing Charmander or Bulbasaur. Benji
Just beat the Elite Four on Platinum, fell out of love with the games for a few months and got rejuvinated when I found some of the Battle Frontier episodes on my old computer the other day, decided I wanted to see what the new ones are like, anybody reached that far and found it as enjoyable as Emeralds version? Pink_blossom_water_lilly
I have Pokemon Diamond and absolutly love it ^_^. Love the whole idea you can battle people from all over the world and just walk straight into battles (battle tower.) I have always been a fan of Pokemon, and weirdly enough I have even wished they really existed! And of course dreamt to be a trainer XD I also annoy my bf with Pikachu impressions although out of the orginal three, I always go for the epic grass types. Pink_blossom_water_lilly
Were you a member of any other message boards before this one? Um.....no just the anime society. Is there something wrong with expressing my passion about pokemon?
King Ellis
Yes, it is hard to know if you are sincere or not. A lot of people can say they're passionate about Pokemon, but most of the time they turn out to people who are just looking to make fun of us. IzzyX
Which type do you guys actually find the best? For me, it definately has to be dragon for the sole reason that it's unstoppable in my eyes.
The Kraig
Please don't alienate the newbies. I thought we'd stop doing that by now. I've always found grass type starters the best, and flying types the most useful overall. But my favourite is probably ground or dark types, mainly because they have little weaknesses and can deal damage to almost any type, and can usually learn moves that cover their weaknesses. Benji
As depressing as this is to say considering my love for fire-types, it's water, wide move pool and typing combos, harsh special moves and a wide range of defensive and offensive types. DoubleX
Normal! I shall list reasons (in no particular order): 1) Ursaring 2) Lickilicky 3) Snorlax 4) Explosion 5) Ursaring 6) Tauros 7) Blissey 8) Clefable I could go on.
