Dampier To Opt Out...

Oakland Tribune: "Erick Dampier is expected to inform the Golden State Warriors today of his intention to opt out of the final two years of his contract... The Lakers, for example, are rumored to be looking at Dampier as a replacement for Shaquille O'Neal should they decide to trade the star center."

Vince Carter/Allen Iverson Deal?

Toronto Sun: "How much stock you put in the Carter-Iverson rumour depends upon your point of view. Several league sources pooh-poohed the notion, while others insisted a conversation has taken place between the Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers, and that there's some smoke there... According to league sources, Carter quietly has demanded a trade."

Babcock Shoots Down Rumors

Toronto Sun: "AS THE Raptors worked out one of the big men who could go early in Thursday's draft, a big trade rumour sent general manager Rob Babcock looking for a big bottle of aspirin. A rumour that originated out of a Philadelphia radio station had the Raptors and 76ers swapping superstars, Vince Carter for Allen Iverson. Babcock was not amused."

Update On K-Mart Contract...+ How Much He Will Cost.

New York Times (registration required): "The hardest choice for the Nets is whether to ante up to keep Martin. A year ago, when Martin was in a position similar to Jefferson's, the team offered a deal worth $66 million, far below the $83 million Martin wanted. If another team offers him the maximum (approximately $85 million), the Nets may not be willing to match it."

Nets/Blazers Trade....Official After Expansion Draft.

Bergen Record (registration required): "The Nets are sending their first-round pick in Thursday's NBA Draft to the Portland Trail Blazers for Eddie Gill and $3 million cash, according to league sources. The deal cannot be announced until Thursday night, though... The trade gives the Blazers three first-round choices, Nos. 13, 22, and 23. They could use two on high school players, J.R. Smith of St. Benedict's Prep and Sebastian Telfair of New York City's Lincoln High School."

Another Nets/Blazers Trade Rumor?

Bergen Record (Scroll Down) (registration required): "The Nets resumed talks with the Blazers about sending Kittles and Aaron Williams to Portland for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Nothing is imminent, but something could transpire later in the summer."

Walker-To-Knicks Rumor Heats Up.

New York Daily News: "Rumors of a trade that would bring Antoine Walker to New York are alive again. The Knicks and Charlotte Bobcats have had discussions about a deal for Walker, who was left unprotected by the Dallas Mavericks for tonight's expansion draft."

Deal May Not Go Through...

New York Post: "Two GMs said the Knicks were trying to get Charlotte to select the Mavericks' Antoine Walker in exchange for Knick pawns, but that appears dead. Bickerstaff said yesterday he's not planning to select the star power forward with the big contract tonight. Bickerstaff said discussions will still continue with the Knicks. Among other unprotected players stirring Isiah are shooting guard Aaron McKie and Malik Rose, both with long-term deals, making about $5.5M next season."

Pacers/Cavaliers Trade In The Talks...

New York Times (Scroll Down) (registration required): "Indiana was as talkative as any club yesterday, and among its discussions was a deal to send Al Harrington to Cleveland for the Cavaliers' first-round pick, the 10th over all. The Pacers would use the pick to take the Oregon swingman Luke Jackson, who is believed to be a favorite of Larry Bird, the team's president of basketball operations. Several general managers said Indiana was also looking to trade Ron Artest, its All-Star small forward, but Donnie Walsh, the Pacers' president, denied that."

Artest On The Block?

New York Daily News (Scroll Down): "The Pacers are trying desperately to trade Artest, a St. John's product from Queensbridge, who suffered several meltdowns in the playoffs."

Grizz After Artest?

New York Post columnist Peter Vecsey (Scroll Down): "Artest has been dangled to the Grizzlies for Muncie, Indiana's Bonzi Wells and a No. 1 pick Memphis doesn't have but is trying to obtain."

Possible Trade Between The Cavs & Dallas or Minnesota

Akron Beacon Journal (Scroll Down) (registration required): "As far as the Cavaliers go, most of them surround their No. 10 pick Thursday. One has them sending the pick to Dallas for swingman Josh Howard, who was perhaps the most surprising rookie in the NBA last season... Another has the Cavaliers making a big swap with the Minnesota Timberwolves for shooting guard Wally Szczerbiak for Tony Battie, Wagner and the No. 10 pick."

Many Players On Cavs Radar.

Akron Beacon Journal (Scroll Down) (registration required): "Houston Rockets swingman Eric Piatkowski, Boston Celtics point guard Chucky Atkins, and Utah Jazz shooting guard Aleksandar Pavlovic are all unprotected and are on the Cavaliers' radar. They are looking for a deal that would involve Dajuan Wagner, Ollie, Newble or Kapono and perhaps this season's No. 10 overall draft pick and a future No. 1 draft pick."

Bulls May Go Shopping For SF.

Daily Herald (Scroll Down): "Cleveland's Eric Williams should be available for less than the midlevel exception (about $5 million). The Bulls might even have an outside shot at Atlanta's Stephen Jackson or San Antonio's Bruce Bowen and Hedo Turkoglu."

i hope it will be interesting, after the dissapointment i felt for this previous year.

I mean the whole Lakers hype about winning more than 70 games, and they fell apart half-way through the season (arguements & injuries), then the rookie "sensations" playing great all year, but not making the all-star game. The no-offense league this year, i felt last year was a dissapointment.

I'm starting to actually get hyped to see a new look Laker team. I mean, yeah, we might suck for awhile, but no way Jerry Buss lets us get like the Celtics or the Knicks, even if we get knocked down we'll get back up again.

I wouldn't mind seeing a deal involving us sending Shaq to say, Orlando, and getting Francis, Hill, and the Number One, or maybe supstitute Gooden for Hill. I'd also like to see the Lakers attempt to get K-Mart.

Bzdelik Safe For 1 More Year.

Rocky Mountain News: "Jeff Bzdelik's job appears safe for next season. His long-term future, though, remains very much in doubt. Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said Monday the Nuggets will not extend the contract of the team's coach during the off-season."

K-Mart In High Altitude?

If this is true, and if Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe can outsell the other suitors, this could be one of the luckiest things to happen to the Nuggets in . . . well . . . a long time - and the only obvious way to improve on last season's surprise.

At 26, Martin is pretty much everything you want in a power forward. He's big, strong, athletic and belligerent. The Nuggets had a lot of appealing qualities last season, but physical toughness wasn't one of them. Sign Kenyon Martin and you won't be worrying about that.

Huskie May Interest Bulls.

Daily Herald: "In the next few days, though, Paxson and his staff will be trying to decide if 6-foot-2 Connecticut guard Ben Gordon is this year's Wade - an impact player they can't afford to pass up."

Bulls Busy Before Draft.

Chicago Tribune columnist Sam Smith (Scroll Down) (registration required): "Atlanta has talked about moving up, though mostly to get Howard. They have No. 6 and No. 17. The Bulls could deal with Atlanta for two picks, trade one to Indiana for Harrington and then add a good mid-first-round player."

Now They Just Seem Confused.

Chicago Tribune (registration required): "It's possible the Bulls will reconsider a trade with Indiana for forward Al Harrington or renew discussions with Washington in an attempt to land Jarvis Hayes. The Wizards, who currently own the No. 5 pick, like Deng but aren't keen on surrendering Hayes."

knicks-banner2.gif

Ward Could Return To Knicks.

New York Post (Scroll Down): "Craig MacKenzie, agent for Charlie Ward, said his client opted out of his Spurs contract yesterday to become a free agent. If PG Frank Williams is dealt, the Knicks would have interest."

Wizards Likely To Lose Dixon To Bobcats.

Washington Times: "Former Maryland guard Juan Dixon, easily one of the most liked players on the Washington Wizards, might have played his last game for the team."

Baltimore Sun: "The winds of today's expansion draft that will stock the NBA's new Charlotte Bobcats may sweep Baltimore native Juan Dixon out of the area."

Wisconsin's Devin Harris Impresses D'Antoni

Arizona Republic (registration required): "Phoenix is the only team to work out Harris twice. Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said he's impressed with Harris' defense and shooting."

Well Gary Payton is staying in LA....sucks

Atlanta could still send a package of some of their 5 draft picks to Orlando for the 1st overall pick....

Well damn, we have had big names (Francis,McGrady,Mobley) thrown around, and the Houston/Rockets trade may all come down to .....REECE GAINES..... he is the 4th player Orlando put in the deal, but he is rumoured to get selected by the Bobcats which would kill this whole trade....Its hard for me to see TMAC in a red & white Rockets jersey......

when this Rockets/Magic trade goes down, and then the Rockets sign Derek Fisher, does anyone else have the Rockets as a top 2 or 3 teams in the west?

C - Yao Ming

PF - Juwan Howard

SF - Jim Jackson

SG - Tracy McGrady

PG - Derek Fisher

im really loving this team even more by the moment, only thing is i hope TMAC doesnt move totally out of Orlando, because i just bought some land near his house, and it would be cool to know i lived near an NBA Superstar. But now i have to buy NBA League Pass, cant bootleg the sunshine network anymore & catch McGrady kill the rest of the league.... :shifty:

now on to Steve Francis, he doesnt want to play for the Orlando Magic, so rumor has it that the Magic could possibly send him to Seattle for Ray Allen...

If I was 'Mello, I would have said no just to piss them off. The Rockets are robbing the Magic. The trade should go through, as the Bobcats didn't take Gaines.
